I'd be willing to bet a shit-ton on this thread grew up watching Cubs & Braves at their grandparents' houses in the summers.

devers is beaming during his introductory press conference. he was crushing the ball despite being extremely unhappy in what appears to be a wildly dysfunctional organization. could he be even better out west? SF got the steal of the season.

So the Yankees havent scored now in 29 straight innings....impressive

Would have bet he hit this mark already.

Javier Báez has made a career out of highlight plays and displays of athleticism. On Tuesday, he needed one just to contort himself and wiggle through the stack of balloons in front of his locker to get his gear on and get ready for the Tigers’ series opener against the Pirates.

It wasn’t his birthday; that’s in December. But it was a sign of age and greatness nonetheless. Báez reached 10 years of Major League service time, a milestone that means plenty for those who have put on a big-league uniform.

Báez made his MLB debut with the Cubs on Aug. 5, 2014, at Coors Field, where his 12th-inning home run beat the Rockies. Only fitting, then, that he celebrated 10 years in the Majors by homering twice, including a game-tying solo shot, in a 7-3 Tigers win over the Pirates at Comerica Park.

On a night when the Tigers homered four times off of Pittsburgh’s pitching staff, Báez was responsible for half of them, more than atoning for a second-inning throwing error at shortstop that led to an unearned run against Tigers starter Casey Mize. Alexander Canario’s two-run single in the third inning gave the Pirates a 3-2 lead.

it’s really weird that cal raleigh is pudge rodriguez behind the plate and mike piazza as a hitter and we just don’t acknowledge it at all.

He s getting all sorts of pub this season.  Not sure where you’ve been.

In a similar vein, though, Will Smith is easily the best catcher in the NL, and gets very little mention.  Granted he’s got some teammates that steal the limelight, but outside of Campy and Piazza, he may be the best Dodger catcher of all time, and that includes a list of Yeager and Soscia.  Oh and a roided up Paul LaDuca.

And just like that, Will the Thrill jacks one.  5-3 Dodgers

Our pitching sucks with 14 pitchers on the IL, but our offense is fucking lethal.

They intentionally beaned Shohei. The fact that we didn't screw one right in Machado's ear is surprising

Devers is such a bitch. Butt hurt because Boston signed Bregman, refused to play 1B, and now eagerly learning 1B for the Giants.

Really?

That’s quite interesting. Maybe there was bad blood on both sides, and that’s why he was unwilling to switch in Boston?

Seems to be a lot more to this than we first thought?

Maybe because he realized what a clown show the Boston front office is. They have no fucking idea what they are doing, and are going to be sellers this year with nothing to show for it.

Same situation as Alfonso Soriano with the Rangers. He refused to move to the OF before the 2006 season because the team wanted Ian Kinsler to take over 2nd base. Him and Showalter couldnt work it out so we traded him for Brad Wilkerson. Soriano immediately moved to left and put up a 40-40 6 WAR season (Wilkerson had negative WAR as a Ranger)

what all did boston get in return for mookie and devers? buncha PTBN type dudes? what the hell is going on in that front office?

That’s what we’re all trying to figure out. So many reports with different angles and info, it’s a big steaming turd of questions.

That's 4 in a row, bishes. Better watch your rearview mirror, Dodgers!

It's a walk off.

Will Smith is maybe the most underrated superstar in the NL.  Just clutch as they come.

So what do the Orioles do at the deadline?

Sell, but get assets that can be packaged for a star,  they need one superstar to go with the youngsters.

Must be October mid-June?

Will Clark is dead...or at least retired.

The fucking Nationals should be ashamed of themselves
