8:00 on ESPN tonight is a 90-minute E60 on Jim Abbott.

@Helobious

Forget that I tagged Helo. If you fucking like baseball, & we have four fucking days of shit, you mother fuckers need to find this.

It was really, really good.

They already lost me. It’s not the World Series. Just get on with it!

just now tuning into the derby on my dvr. i see that espn is still choosing to use a split screen, the dumbest thing possible. apparently wood hit one 486 feet. too bad i wasn’t able to actually watch and appreciate it. dumb.

One magic town. 60 pro players. And they're all related to Ronald Acuña Jr.

You've likely heard of some of baseball's biggest family ties. The sport has a long tradition of them.

The Boones, the Alous, the Guerreros -- the last, a seemingly endless gene pool of players seen blasting dingers across Dominican sandlots year after year.

But there's one group of relatives that outranks them all. One mixture of five families, from one tiny, baseball-obsessed, way-out-of-the-way town in Venezuela that has so many pro players, even most members have lost count.

"It's amazing how many people in the family have signed professional contracts," former pitcher Kelvim Escobar told me in a phone call. "Eight Major Leaguers, and I don't know how many more have signed pro contracts."

"There are a lot," Ronald Acuña Jr. said through an interpreter. "It’s more than 60."

"Well, I think it's around 50-something, almost 60, something like that," former shortstop José Escobar said through an interpreter. "From a town of just four streets. ... It might be a Guinness record."

Get rid of the fucking clock and it fixes everything.

Switch over to the statcast feed.

This version of the derby is so dumb. You don't even get to enjoy the HR leaving the park. They're throwing the next pitch while the previous hit is still in the air.

Yep. Because baseball isn’t meant to have clocks.

So fucking stupid. I miss the long pause between pitches and watching the gaggle of middle schoolers in the outfield scrambling to snag one. Fuck you Manfred

jessica mendoza: “did you see where that last one was?!?!?!!!”

me: “no i did not, espn’s camera angle was coming from the moon.”

lmao a kid robbed one of the homers, i’ve always wanted to see that.

cal raleigh is a freak, but caminero is an alien.

pretty cool to pull that off with your dad pitching and you lil bro behind the plate.

so now you get a hr derby trophy, a piece and chain, as well as a wrestling belt. ok.

Explain to me why there is a wrestling belt?

I cant explain why people over the age of 9 even give a shit about wrestling, so I got nothing for ya here.

If they don't get one of these next year for the champ, they are just doing it wrong.

This was a really good derby. I love the Derby for some reason. I watched the ESPN2 broadcast and it was so much fucking better. The camera angle from behind the mound on the main broadcast? We don't care.

No shit, the camera from behind the mound is so that you can see the pitch, yet they stick with it even though absolutely no one cares about the pitch.

Open secret -- the Derby is a billion times better than the actual ASG.

all it would take to fix this is for the managers to agree (prompted by the league or otherwise) to start the two best staters, but to save some of your best pitchers and hitters for later in the game. let’s watch mike wazowski vs zack mckinstry in the 4th inning so that we can see hunter brown vs shohei ohtani in the 8th or 9th. give the participation trophy players an AB or an IP early on and save a few of the big dawgs to be subbed in throughout the game. if the best players decided the game in the 9th it would mean more.

Why have RP make the team then

I’d love to know the lore behind the myth of catcher being the most valuable position. To me it’s 4th behind pitcher, shortstop, and center fielder.

How many good pitchers are there. Now do CF. Now do SS. There's about 3 elite catchers. That's why

So in other words most teams still win without an elite catcher. Which proves my point.

and we have a verdict.

Catcher is most definitely the most important position, by Helo's decree.

Dammit Derka, let me post one of these once in awhile!

Nah, you're doing fine. Carry on.

Has a 15-yo kid ever had a better summer than Dumper's little brother?

OK, maybe Jennifer Capriati or someone like that, but still...

I kept saying last night that someone needs to add a 'C' to that jersey. His jersey anyway.
