Maybe Salvy is staying another year, and well, FermDog ain’t getting any younger, and wouldn’t have many years left if Salvy sticks around much longer. Still sucks. He’s bled a lot for us, and has been primed to take over for Salvy for a while. We needed the arms, but damn that one sucks. Between Carter Jensen, Blake Mitchell and Ramon Ramirez, the Royals have plenty of good catching coming up. Luka Tresh is still at Omaha as well but I think he has lost a bit of shine. Fermin is on the wrong side of 30 and really isn't a great hitter. I think there is some recency bias with him. I do like his defense and I guess the Padres do too.
August 1Aug 1 2027 MLB All-Star Game to be held at Wrigley Field CHICAGO – With its ivy-covered walls and storied history, Wrigley Field has long been considered one of the crown jewels of baseball. And over the past decade-plus, the Cubs have worked to transform not only the ballclub, but also the neighborhood surrounding the Friendly Confines. The Cubs already ended a 108-year World Series drought in 2016. Bringing the All-Star Game and all its festivities back to Wrigley Field for the first time since 1990 has also been a consistent goal for the organization. Wait ‘til 2027. The All-Star Game is returning to Chicago Yes, I plan on attending.
August 1Aug 1 So after Philly next year and Wrigley in 2027, every team besides the 5 below (A’s and most of the AL East) will have hosted this century. A’s (1987) (they’ll be first up when/if they get something done in Vegas) Toronto (1991) no idea when the American national pastime will go north of the border again, maybe once they’re our 51st state (sarcasm… no CR) Baltimore (1993). A visit back to Camden within the next 5 years seems likely Boston (1999). A visit back to Fenway within the next 5 years seems likely (especially after giving the 3rd oldest park (Dodger Stadium) the midsummer classic in 2022 and the 2nd oldest park in 2027. Rays (never). Chances of hosting a future ASG depend on new ownership and ability to get a new park built.

August 1Aug 1 Cubs beat BAL 1-0 in 1:49. I remember when we were all laughing at them for using a top 10 pick on Cade Horton...

August 2Aug 2 This was my favorite trade yesterday: There is no PTBNL. I imagine the conversation went something like this... Brewers: Hey, we're interested in Miller. What do you want for him? DBacks: We want you to take Jordan Montgomery. Brewers: Don't you want prospects? DBacks: No, we want you to take Jordan Montgomery. We'll give you Miller if you also take Montgomery. Brewers: OK, but the trade form that I have to fill out won't let me submit unless we file something going to you. Eh, player to be named! Edited August 2Aug 2 by Beau Vine

August 2Aug 2 Not sure I’ve seen a bottom of the 9th escalate that quickly. Out of mound visits to start the inning. leadoff K 7 pitch AB ends in a HR. Then: 5 pitch walk Ball, ball, strike, ball, foul, triple (RBI) Strike, single (RBI) Strike, 2 run walkoff HR
