tokamak is a Ranger fan, it doesn’t affect him at all.

I don't understand the point you're trying to make. Putting the Rangers on Victory last season was a big improvement over what came before, but I still get annoyed when I go to watch them and find out that they're on Apple or whatever. It looks to me like MLB wants to make that situation worse. I don't want to carry an ESPN subscription just so I can watch the Rangers on Wednesday night once a month.

Put every game, every team on MLB.tv with no blackout nonsense. Charge me $150/yr to watch one team, or $200/yr to watch everyone. Put Ohtani on Sunday night over-the-air for casuals. That's it, that should be the whole TV package. But some consultant told them that they're not delivering maximum shareholder value or what the fuck ever by doing that. So instead we have live MLB content on 6 different platforms by my count, not including every team's individual RSN situation (which are all over the place).

Padres great, and  Cy Young winner Randy Jones has passed.  Beloved by all in San Diego.  Great guy.

I love watching the Padres booth guys almost as much as my own. It’s like they start drinking first pitch, and by the 5th/6th things get really entertaining. (They’re not, but it’s all in good fun.)

OK I actually read the article. It says Sunday night moves to "NBCUniversal", which to me implies Peacock. If it's broadcast NBC, why wouldn't they just say "NBC"?

Sunday night baseball will be on NBC (and Peacock and their NBC Sports channel) EXCEPT when NBA or NFL have existing rights/agreements…. Which are back half of April until end of NBA regular season in May. And then the last three weeks of September when NFL starts.

In those cases, Sunday night baseball will be on Peacock and NBC Sports Network

Yeah. This definitely makes things a lot clunkier….

even for just Sunday night baseball alone as referenced above

He was able to get guys out with that 74 mph slider!

Yeah, when I was in Little League, one of my coaches would say to watch Tom Seaver to learn how to pitch.  I was smart enough to see that Seaver had a much bigger arm than I ever would, so Randy Jones became my muse.

Posnanski's column today quoted an old game scouting report of a game that had Jones's fastest pitch of the day at 79 mph.  And he threw a shutout.

and The Padres drew an extra 10,000 on days he started.

Fellas, next time you go up to a woman at a bar do this. l've done this countless times, & it works 9 times out of 10.

Walk up to the bar & stand confidently next to her. Order your drink from the bartender & immediately look into her eyes & don't break contact until she does. While looking into her soul shout out to the bartender confidently, "And please my good sir get this little temptress whatever she's drinking."

Introduce yourself in a seductive & deep confident tone which intrigues her sexually proving you're a confident man not afraid to ask for what he wants.

Then make an offhand remark which should make zero sense given the situation. Her curiosity is now peaked.

When the bartender delivers the drinks, ask him for a napkin & a pen. While you're writing your name & number on the napkin speak these words in your best James Bond impression which should be spoken seductively, slowly, calmly, mysteriously, & with a touch of cocky arrogance, "Nice to meet you sweet tits, & thank you for the drink, l'll be sure to get the next one when you meet me later at the bar I'm headed to."

Just slide the napkin to her, while graciously letting the bartender know to put your drink on her tab. Then simply walk away leaving the bar.

This sounds like a dick move, but you will be amazed how many times you'll get a text wondering which bar she should meet you at. It's like shooting fish in a barrel.

Better bring the juice too.

Angels will hit 8x as many HRs next year!

Asking this for a friend, no really:
RE The World Baseball Classic
" Does anyone know if Astros season ticket holders get first crack at WBC tix?  I'm not particularly interested in the Houston pool, but want to go to the quarterfinal if Colombia gets 2nd in theirs."

Typically, yes. How many tickets are allotted for that, and how far down the list you are, dunno.

My season ticket friend is under the assumption that this is the case.  @Ldogg53 probably can answer also

He logs in once in a blue moon but from listening to him all season I'm pretty sure that's the case

Rendon was a bad, bad signing.  But, it wasn't a really dumb signing.  A young talent with a great future...so we all thought.

Now, that fucking shitbag asshole dope-sucking cocksucker Josh Hamilton...THAT was a dumb signing.

Update:  he already has his season tickets seats for the WBC and thinks they get first crack at the public sales too coming up

cease to the jays. if he continues to be the iron man of mlb pitching then that’s a great signing for toronto. i like seeing teams go for it, and this seems like a really good move to me. he’s been up and down, but even in a down year this year he leads the league in k/9 and has a 3.56 fip. if you get that for 33 starts/year for the next 4-5 years you’ve got to be happy.

Rendon is and was a selfish prick. There were warning signs on taking him on, but the Angels threw a ridiculous amount of money at him anyhow. I hope he moves back to Texas and loses everything he owns in a hurricane.

I am all for teams doing this. Spend money and try to win. I can’t stand the moochers like Pittsburgh and the A’s who make no attempt to win at all and just take their revenue sharing money and pocket it instead of investing in the team.

what sucks is that makes the Yankees stronger lol

Early winter think piece on the decline of doubles and triples…from Stark. This is paid story but I got around it with Reader. Amongst other things, he proposes limiting where the OFs can position themselves.

putt, you would literally post that for any contract for any team. You don’t have the first goddamn mother fucking clue if that’s a good contract.

Quit being that guy, go fucking make fun of TonyTroll’s dumbass on your thread. The rest of us will handle MLB.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – The storm clouds are hovering, with the dire forecast of a work stoppage coming a year from now, but Tony Clark, executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association, refuses to sweat.

He spent four days meeting with players at their executive board meeting this week, with the hottest topic the upcoming collective bargaining agreement. He told them to be fully prepared for a potential work stoppage, but to also ignore the noise that the game will be shut down when the CBA expires Dec. 1, 2026. ..
