Same as it ever was.  They're bringing back most of the team from last year, with no huge upgrades.  Whatever, they had fun last year, I bet they improve.

I'll be going to games in Houston, Texas, Cubs, and maybe Seattle.

Some of the new commercials are out, with some BTS below:

I will be attending the thrilling A's matchup on Sunday of opening weekend.

Here's the GOAT Yoga one.  Somehow the BTS of this got posted in my post above, even though it just came out today.  The season's already fucked up.

The Seattle Mariners released veteran outfielder Mitch Haniger on Sunday.

An All-Star with the club in 2018, he spent parts of six seasons in Seattle.

"Putting on a Mariners uniform and playing at T-Mobile Park is something I'll cherish forever," Haniger, 34, said in a team news release. "To our fans, my teammates, and everyone a part of this organization, thank you for embracing my family and me.

"We have so many great memories to look back on."

Haniger was with the Mariners in 2017-19, 2021-22 and 2024. He was part of the 2022 squad that made the playoffs -- the first Mariners team to achieve the feat since 2001 -- and received American League MVP votes in 2018 and 2021.

The Mariners and catcher Cal Raleigh are reportedly finalizing an extension, which is pending a physical. It’s a six-year, $105MM deal for the Excel Sports Management client, which starts this year. He had previously agreed to a $5.6MM salary in 2025 to avoid arbitration, so this deal adds five years and $99.4MM in terms of new money. He was slated to hit free agency after 2027, so this deal buys out three free agent seasons and there’s also a vesting option for 2031. Raleigh gets full no-trade protection.

The specific breakdown is a $10MM signing bonus and $1MM salary in 2025, followed by salaries of $11MM and $12MM in 2026 and 2027. He will then make $23MM salaries for three straight years. For 2031, there is a vesting player option valued at $20MM with a $2MM buyout. The conditions for triggering the vesting option haven’t been publicly reported.

I made it to the 8th inning but just barely.

Logan with a quality start no decision.  Probably the first of many this year unless the offense wakes up.

Yes, I know, they scored 1 in the 7th, 3 in the 8th. That doesn't help the starter much. "Wins" are kind of overrated as a pitching stat anyway.

Also, to your point, I believe the M's had baserunners in every inning.  I like that.

^ I almost added that to the thread title for this season.

No "SoDo Mojo" or "True to the blue", but "Same as it ever was."

Robles just made a leaping catch into the net, but might have hurt his wrist.

Trying not to get swept in SF.

12 weeks

Quote

The Mariners today provided an update on outfielder Víctor Robles, who was placed on the 10-day injured list yesterday due to a left shoulder dislocation. Today’s update says that the dislocation caused a small fracture in the humeral head in his left shoulder. The club believes that the fracture will heal without surgery, though Robles will be continually monitored to ensure that is the case. Even if he does continue to avoid surgery, the club estimates it will take him six weeks to heal, followed by a six-week rehab process. That suggests he will miss about 12 weeks even in a best-case scenario.

Looks like they're doing ok without me so far.

My wife is asleep in bed with the game playing on her tablet. I'll go watch some before I fall asleep.

Straightaway center field.

Yesterday's HR broke the franchise record for catchers.

Gilbert on the mound today against my Rangers.  Have got to see him pitch live before.  Also have this.

Not sure what the karma is here, but Texas doesn’t do well at all against Seattle in games in which a seager participated. Thank goodness we only needed one at the end of 2023.

DMo with 2 HR so far, and the rookie Williamson got a hit in his first AB.

Cal with a HR from both sides again tonight.  M's hold on to win 5-3.

Still on pace for 81-81!
