March 20Mar 20 I’m in high school Buddy had a 71 Duster with a hotrodded 340. It was crazy fast as Plymouth built the car so cheap it weighed nothing. Mainly papering sheetmetal and cardboard.
March 20Mar 20 Will watch and reminisce about growing up around cars like that Duster... which we had. 67 GTO was another family car. I still remember being a kid running around in the back seat of the GTO driving down what is 340 in Waco outside of Beverly Hills. Father was driving and my grandfather was in the passenger seat... doing 100+ MPH.
March 20Mar 20 My dad was an Oldsmobile man. He had a 64 Cutlass then 68 442 then 70 442 which I later got. He and mom drove both fast.

June 1Jun 1 This show is fucking awesome and I am at a loss why there's so little hype. Titties, fast cars, ridiculous '70s imagery, razor sharp dialogue. It's Tarantino with boobs. Edited June 1Jun 1 by VivaNaranja
June 1Jun 1 Love the toy car intro. They arent subtle about their target demo, and that demo would be me.

Somebody figured out another show that's not Reacher, that appeals to middled-aged guys.
June 1Jun 1 Author I've had fantasies about a nurse that looks and dresses like this. Or am having them (spoilers ahoy).

That's good to hear...wife doesn't like watching anything that's not finished so we can just marathon through, and looking forward to this one.
June 6Jun 6 This thread might be the worst thread on the board at actually describing the show. Pretty much opposite of everything that's been said so far. A half a boob through three episodes and the toy car intro sucks. They had a golden opportunity to flood the zone with muscle cars.
June 12Jun 12 Binged the last 4 episodes this week. It's a fun show. Not seriously dark, still has comedy. Decent cast with some new faces to me. Cars are what really locked me in.
June 15Jun 15 The car chase scene of bad guys in a bmw 2002 hanging on straightens streets with that Duster….uhhh nope. still we’re watching. It’s ok empty calorie viewing.

It’s ok empty calorie viewing. Haven't seen the show yet, and not disputing that a 2002 can't hang in a straight line with a muscle car, but if you haven't read David E. Davis's original 1968 C&D review of the 2002, then get the fuck to it. https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a15126456/1968-bmw-2002-review/
June 27Jun 27 Binged this over the last week or so. It has the most insane, over-the-top plot that is filled with ridiculous holes, but it also has cars that go vroom, good action, and a hot woman with an afro. So, yeah, I'm in. Edited June 27Jun 27 by HornOnTheBayou

The relationships are nuanced despite the ridiculous story lines. The way the characters navigate the race and gender issues given the era, as well as the family (actual and criminal family) dynamics is really really good.

But it's still pretty damn cool.

July 10Jul 10 One and done for Duster. Boo. I thought it was really fun. https://deadline.com/2025/07/duster-canceled-hbo-max-josh-holloway-jj-abrams-1236453380/
July 10Jul 10 Something about the leads face and neck wrinkles just really put me off. Like a Kroft hand puppet.

The actor's in his mid-50s playing a character who should be chronologically roughly about 30 years old for the show's setting, if he was supposed to have fought in 'Nam with his brother.

If he had just aged gracefully, he could have a ton of roles as the older leading man. Plastic surgery has marred plenty of women as well.
July 11Jul 11 I remember him from Lost and he was kind of a badass. In this series he kind of looked like Bob Odenkirk with a wig. And I love Bob Odenkirk but I don't think that was the vibe they were going for me. Regardless I'm gonna miss the slow musical montage walks of Nina St. James.
