That was fun. Took my 9 year old with me. Listening to the postgame recap on the drive home and they did the call for the Flores bomb and she asked “is that when the scoreboard flashed Home Run? That

QUICK SUMMARY SEC BASEBALL STANDINGS:

Really flipped the switch midway through last night's game and it just continued into today.

Texas became dominant and I would like to think coaching had an effect.

As we talked about the batting approach became different and the offense came to life.

The pitching looked different too. They had command and that is made the difference today.

Even when Volantis lost his mechanics in the ninth, a Weiner visit straightened him out.

Big series win that can do nothing but give this team confidence in themselves and the coaching staff, which they probably already had.

We played well coached in all phases. Was fun to watch. Great at bats, aggressive base running, great pitching.

Dumb question: What device does the first base coach have in his pocket.

I think Grubbs is more valuable in Friday or Saturday. He could be a 3 inning save guy every weekend.
Ruger looks better in the starter role than middle relief imo.

His best outing of the season came against the best team we’ve faced, as a starter, so this is a pretty undeniable take.

ive only seen about half his appearances but the dude comes in and throw strikes. And his shit is so good he sometimes gets 3 pitch Ks. When he gets tired, he misses in the upper part of the zone and gets barreled. Another hot take I’m sure, he was left in too long in both our extra inning losses. Dudes a weapon.

I’d 100% give him another start but also get  him relief appearances too to maintain his versatility

Probably a stopwatch timing the pitcher

I think the LSU baseball team tried to kill me a little while ago.  My daughter and I took the dogs up to the ranch after the game was over land, I drove into Columbus to grab some WhatABurger for dinner about 8:30.  As I was coming back and trying to merge onto I10 East from Business 71 I almost got flattened by a big purple bus with LSU written on it in big gold letters.  They must of been in a hell of a hurry to get vet to Baton Rouge

They took a bus……?

It's a stopwatch.

He can time a runner going to first.

He can time a pitcher's move to first.

Anything he wants to time.

It's become obvious that some of our good pitchers have obvious stopping points and Schloss recognizes that. Might be hyperbole but I think that by itself gets us 5-10 wins more than Pierce would do with the same rotation.

He’s just happy to see ya

If it’s not, it should be.

In his defense he probably thinks it is a state of mind, and has no idea it’s a band.

I wonder if he timed Belyeu’s homer that went over Comal St.

They can't go too far into Texas with their airboats.

this.  most likely timing the pitcher from start of delivery to the plate.  if they know the catchers pop up time, they can get a good idea of their runner can swipe a bag. but yes, he can time move to first as well.

Riojas was great today.

He's been money for the most part every appearance. 5-1 overall , with the baseball gods giving him his only loss against his former team, UTSA.

In case you hadn't seen already. From the Texas Baseball Media Guide.... check out what's stitched onto his glove.

Upon seeing his X post last July upon transferring, looked him up and immediately thought he was going to give us a positive outcome. Definitely has.

After seeing that postgame interview last night and that attire,... Dominate the Zone 🤘hat, Motley Crew T, birkenstocks ?, and of course El Bigote, only thing that would make him anymore likeable /quirky would be if he was a southpaw. Dude definitely has it going on and is a fan favorite in our 1st base line section. We broke out our 'staches for him yesterday.

Yes, this is a big part of the stopwatch use.

I think the standard was anything over 3 to 3.5 seconds was considered slow and a good candidate to steal on.

You can time the entire process on a steal, pitcher delivery and catcher time to complete a throw to second.

This can be subjective though because depending on the pitch and location it's going to affect that time.

A breaking pitch in the dirt is going to be slower than a high fastball.

Whether a batter swings or not is going to make a slight difference.

The stopwatch use was like an early use of analytics that are used and sometimes to me overused as in shifts of all kinds on defense.

It's just something used to hopefully get an edge over the opposition.

Stealing signs was probably the earliest way to try to get an edge and of course still going on today.

It's all part of what people think is a simple game, it's really not if you know what is going on.

With every pitch somebody is communicating with somebody on defense and offense through signs and now modern technology.

Athletics at UT is just so much more enjoyable now that we can just buy the players we want. "There's a middle crew woman in Sheboygan who's 6'3", 170 .lbs and generates 428 horsepower through her oars? Sign her up!"

This guy is now my 3rd favorite baseball player behind Adrian Beltre and Ozzie Smith.  "Say When" is awesome.
