Once again, this was a situation in where the top 5-10 in the sport just were not going to leave. They have their programs rolling and at a high level already. Those coaches get whatever they want fro

A lot of them, but it appears that they are all in French.

That guy would put a big exclamation point on a what already appears on paper to be a pretty decent rebuild and retention of talent job.  He'd fill out the final need for another solid scoring guard/ballhandler.

Xavier is what like a tier 4 college job?

It is equal to whatever you would consider the Tech job.

Laugh all you want, it just demonstrates your willful ignorance:

Xavier: Est. 1920; 1,609-1,079 (.599) 3 E8, 9 S16, 30 appearances. 10 Conference tournament titles, 18 Conference titles, 2 NIT Championships.

Tech: Est. 1925; 1,508-1,162 (.565) 1 FF, 3 E8, 9 S16, 22 appearances. 5 Conference tournament titles, 12 Conference titles, 0 Championships.

The only thing difference is the one FF appearance you snagged with the mercenary. But then X has 2 NIT banners so more of a wash with each passing year.

Xavier plays in the Big East with a tournament in Madison Square Tournament. Tech plays in the B12 with a tournament in Missouri.

And please for the love of god, do not even try to argue the sands of West Texas compare to the Kentucky bluegrass region.

I correct myself, Tech is a bit below Xavier. Thanks for the laugh and giving me an excuse to waste some time at work before I start the holiday weekend.

I understand you're still upset about JT Toppin, but this is no way to live your life. There's not a single other person alive that would contend that Xavier is a better job than Tech at this point in time. You're delusional, go touch grass. You don't have to live with this much hate in your heart.

I do find it interesting that he was the guy they were going to hire the first time around and came back to him again the second time around as well. I guess that’s a good sign.

Miller's explanation should have been, "because you touch yourself at night."

I watched the rothstein interview today. Miller said they will fill the last roster spot in the next two to four weeks. Fingers crossed it’s him.  Idk who starts at pg him or tramon

when he talks he sounds like beard and barnes; totally opposite of shaka. honest, up front, not shying away from expectations, but rather being open about them, as well as being open as to why they are achievable. from the fact that he has a clear vision for his roster to the way that he speaks- his openness and honesty- i’m finding myself more and more gruntled with this hire.

I hope he starts a huge student outreach that packs Moody and makes it an insane environment.

early returns on Miller are very strong.  I'm excited to see where we will be in 2-3 years.

Is Surly finally united behind a basketball head coach hire? Are Derka and MotownHorn going to be giving each other high fives? I am not sure I am ready for that reality!

Why don’t we wait till we’re down by two in our opening game before we make any proclamations

Little bro and I attended the first baseball regional game and may or may not have semi-illegaly parked in a lot that we weren't supposed to. Ran in to Miller and I will say that he is taller and in better shape in person.

Don't worry man. I'm planning to spend the next decade hanging on RTs nuts complaining about how we shouldn't have fired him and insisting that THIS YEAR is the year he finally stops underachieving and proves everyone wrong.

Hoops Report: Workouts begin today; one more roster addition

Sean Miller and staff have the current roster of players on campus save freshman center Lewis Obiorah (more on that below). After a week of individual workouts, the team will begin weight training, conditioning and skill-related instruction today.

The Longhorns already have the tallest roster in the programs history, and there could be another addition. The six players added are 7-foot-1, 7-foot, 6-foot-10, 6-foot-8, 6-foot-7 and a 6-foot-4 combo guard. The additions, along with keeping 6-foot-8.5 forward signee John Clark in the fold and retaining 6-foot-9 Nic Codie, 6-foot-6 guard Tramon Mark and 6-foot-3 guard Chendall Weaver has created the tallest/longest roster I have seen in my years covering and following Texas. That means the lone player on the current roster not 6-foot-3 or taller is shooter Jordan Pope.

Lewis Obiorah update ...
The 7-foot-1, 19 year old will not join the team until August. He is developmental player in year one.

Completing the 2025-26 roster ...
Texas has two scholarship spots remaining. One spot is a lock to be used. As of today, it's expected to be an international player. And that player could be another impact big man, or a role playing guard.

Texas current 2025-26 roster...
Tramon Mark, CG, 6-6, Gr. (10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists)

Simeon Wilcher, CG, 6-4, junior (8.0 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists)

Jordan Pope, CG, 6-0, senior (11.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists)

Chendall Weaver, G, 6-3, senior (6.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists)

Dailyn Swain, F/G, 6-8, junior (11.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.6 steals at Xavier)

Camden Heide, F, 6-7, junior (4.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 39.2% from three at Purdue)

Matas Vokietaitas, C, 7-0, sophomore (10.2 points, 5.4 rebounds at FAU)

Lassina Traore, C, 6-10, senior (11.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists in 2023-24 at LBSU)

Nic Codie, PF,  6-9, sophomore

John Clark, PF, 6-8.5, freshman

Lewis Obiorah, C, 7-1, freshman

listing the 3p% of a guy who averages 0.7 3pm on 1.6 3pa for his career is a choice. for reference, gabe muoneke’s junior year he went 0.8 for 1.6 from deep. i don’t think anyone would be quoting his 3p% when describing him as a player.
