Once again, this was a situation in where the top 5-10 in the sport just were not going to leave. They have their programs rolling and at a high level already. Those coaches get whatever they want fro

Crazy how tall and coordinated Lamarcus is. If he could have made 1 or 2 more shots against LSU in the elite 8 his legacy at Texas would be a lot different.

i hope that the usa’s golden generation loses their home soil world cup because our cruel and demented president has scared the rest of the world off from trying to travel to our country, as a lesson for what happens when you elect an actual fascist as your president. i hope that trump has to watch canada and mexico take the world cup from him. we’ve created an unsafe environment for the world to come here, and we deserve to be punished.

Texas Basketball has been giving the middle finger to its season ticket holders while raising prices and building a new arena, and they deserve to have an empty arena for consistently giving their dedicated fans one garbage home schedule after another for more than a decade.

Honestly, fuck Soccer in general.

And keep your politics out of this fucking Football forum.

Bumping a 2 month old post is exactly how you achieve your goals of keeping politics off this forum. Masterful gambit there, snowflake. Masterful.

i posted awhile back that this roster sort of reminds me of auburn 2-3 years ago when they didn’t have an alpha player, but their top 4 bench guys were all as good as the starters. it ended up costing them come tourney time, butt they were damn tough to beat for most of the season.

Oh wow fuck yes

...and... I'm in the wrong thread. But oh well it's still cool news.

season starts with us getting our asses whooped, followed by four games against jv teams. i don’t ever ever ever ever want to see us play four teams ranked 300+ ever again, and especially not in a row. it’s totally pointless. fans don’t like it, and it does nothing to prepare the team for league play. i’d rather go 1-3 or 2-2 vs some decent - plain bad teams and actually learn something as opposed to just playing for no-win, pointless games in a row to “prepare” us for this:

you aren’t seeing things- that’s two more teams ranked 340+ before we play in the toughest league in america.

Texas getting some votes, but not enough to be ranked to start the season

https://apnews.com/hub/ap-top-25-college-basketball-poll

2 SEC teams in the top 10 (Florida/Kentucky), 4 more in the top 25 (Arkansas, Bama, Tennessee, Auburn), 6 more receiving votes (Texas, Ole Miss, Missouri, Vandy, Miss St, OU)

Total of 12 SEC teams receiving at least 1 vote in the AP poll

we aren’t going to know anything about this team until conference play has been underway for a few weeks. there’s no point in anyone trying to rank or project us right now when we essentially are starting a brand new team from scratch.

So 8-10 in conference?

I'd take that right now knowing it likely gets us in the tourney. Everything is a crapshoot entering a season with a new HC, but I have serious reservations about the caliber of guard play we'll see from this team.

8-10 in conference + likely 9-2 non conference
That is assuming a loss to Duke (duh) and UConn and wins over ASU and Virginia and the other 7 traffic cone opponents

I'm slightly more optimistic.  Pre-conference play I am right there with you, but our roster is better than last year, the coaching staff is light years better, and our aforementioned pre-con is crap and allows the new teammates time to meld.  I think we can break even in the SEC, maybe a smidge better. I think we reach 20 wins before post season play.

we have questionable guard play, questionable shooting ability, and with the transfer portal and an entirely new coaching staff, culture, way of playing, way of practicing, way of studying, etc, etc, i think that all expectations should be tempered, and reactions to poor play should be minimized until the entire group has had time to get aquatinted and jell. it will not surprise me to see us struggle this year. this is the definition of a transition year.

So kenpom has us winning every home SEC game except for Florida and lose every game on the road?

What’s our kenpalm ranking?

we're 39. 43rd on Ortg, 32nd on Drtg.

Damn so we gonna be ass this year ?

Think we gotta be patient and let the team get used to each other and understand roles. Hopefully by end of year, we look like a cohesive team with legit coaching

Finish top half of the conference, im happy. Looks like a clear tier 1, tier 2 and then tier 3 is a big mess of teams who could all finish 5-10

it’s just going to take some time to figure out our rotations, seeing who plays well with one another, who bogs down the offense when they’re on the floor together, figuring out who we play when our opponent goes big/small, etc. and all of that while an entire new coaching staff brings in new ideas and ways of operating that are foreign to our players, who themselves have never played together. it’s simply a work in progress that will require patience.

i saw a twitter thread today that asked, “who is cbb’s james franklin?”, and sean miller got a lot of nominations (rick barnes got the most, which is funny coming off back to back E8’s, but old beliefs die hard). this is miller’s last chance in major cbb. if he fails here then it’s over for him at this level. here’s to hoping that he bucks that reputation like jay wright, tony bennett, and jim boeheim did.

lol the one year we’re playing here my ass will be in Texas for a wedding during the Maui.

The play of the large guards we will be using to play point will be a big factor in our record.  If they can get the ball up the court under pressure, play competent defense against smaller faster guards, and hit open outside shots at a decent clip, we could be in the mix for the top 1/3 of the SEC.

I think this is why I’m “okay” with the non-con we have in year 1 of Miller.

New Coach, new staff, new system and a bunch of roster turnover. Just excited to watch them try to bring it all together and ready to enjoy the ride!!!

Yep.  New coach, tons of new players, new system.

Though I think the overall knock on Miller is he didn't schedule very tough in the non-conf, even at Xavier and Arizona.

This is good news.  Makes me wonder if any team will be able to keep it within 20 points of us this year?  Show me a loss!
