If I could give you all the reps, I would, that deserves the hookem, the heart, the laugh, the drool, maybe even the fuck around and find out.

What I will give you is the final report of defector for the Tour because yesterday was a damn thing of beauty.

He hasn't made it to Paris in 4 years.

Tour de France: Pogacar triumphs after Montmartre sprint – DW – 07/27/2025

I hated the change but it was amazing. I love course, up the hill and right past the Moulin Rouge and Sacre Couer. I thought it was exciting when I was like "This is where they filmed the John Wick 3 finale". This was next level.

Incidentally, Tadej let Wout have it.

While I think there were at least a couple of stages that Tadej could have won in this year's Tour, I don't believe that this was one of them.  Wout is well-liked and respected, but all is fair in love, war, and cycling.  Tadej very much wanted to win the final stage, and would not have gifted it to anyone.

Wout absolutely dropped him. You can watch the video and clearly see Tadejs shoulder slump and head drop. He was tapped out.

Tadej was blown up by the end. I think Jonas really pushed him this year and made him work for every second of that win. Wout earned this stage and it was great.

I get that. I just think maybe there was some acting. Maybe.

No.

Tadej is the best cyclist in the world currently, and possibly ever.  That doesn't mean that he is capable of winning every stage that he wants.  It's okay to admit that another cyclist was better on given day.

Cracking stage in the women's Tour today

Last two stages were great as well.  Maeva Squiban took stage 6 breaking away solo with 32k to go winning by over a minute.  She followed that up with a Pogi style attack on a stage 7 climb with 23k to go winning again by over a minute.

Jesus, PFP just nuked everyone.

It’s fascinating to watch her continue adding elite entries into an already mind bending palmares. Man or woman, one of the greatest to ever race bicycles across multiple disciplines. What a legend.

Red Bull-Bora should be an interesting team to follow next year.  They just signed Remco Evenepoel.  So last years TDF third place finisher/white jersey winner (Remco) will ride with this years TDF third place finisher/white jersey winner (Florian Lipowitz) and Primoz Roglic.  Could work, could be a ton of drama, fun to watch either way.

I'm pretty sure they will be a pretty big flop.

I concur.  Primoz can no longer win stage races, and doesn't have the attitude to be a good domestique.  Remco has a limited range of stages that suit him.  He could evolve, but I'm doubtful that he has that in him.  Florian is the most likely of the three to challenge for Grand Tours, but Bora would need to go all in on supporting him, and I don't see them doing that.  I'm frequently wrong, so we'll see what happens.

Barring a crash, certainly hard to envision anyone but Jonas winning.  Still interested to see what Juan Ayuso and Joao Almedia can do to make it difficult.  Also, I can't help to root for Tom Pidcock.

Fuck that guy

The whole damn Visma squad just went down on a slick roundabout.

Looks like everyone’s back up and ok but that was pretty crazy

If you have to go down, that's the situation you want, slowing for a roundabout on a slick road.

Gaudu and Jonas contesting the sprint with Mads. What king of parallel fucking universe am I in.

Was not expecting any GC action today, damn

Jonas doing Jonas things, and great ride by Treen to hold on to the rojo through the rest day.

Juan Ayuso leaving UAE at seasons end. Giro drama must have been immense.

He's been riding like he already left them.

Dude how trifling is that guy lol. UAE is the most non team I've ever seen

Yet they are somehow kicking ass...at least in ways that don't really matter.

I know Sepp won the Vuelta a couple of years ago, but how close are we to having an American as a team leader and main grand tour GC candidate?

Are we to the point where an all-American team could be competitive?  I don't see them threatening UAE or Visma, but I think they could certainly hang with the second tier.

Who would lead it?

The Armstrong stench still lingers for me.  I am way past ready for another American Tour de France winner.  Someone give me a reason to hope.

I'm all out of hope. Riccitello is legit, but I don't know if he is that level of talent. Time will tel. I will definitely be pulling for him.

Street art game is strong at the Vuelta.   I appreciate the detail of using the curve for added depth and meaning.

Bonus points for not making it benign. The spewing of seed displays more vitality than Jonas or Joao can muster to attack each other and give us a compelling race.

I was watching that live, cackled.

Great ride by Jonas.  I think Sepp might have been able to win the stage, but his job was to mark João if Jonas was able to get away.  Good to see Riccitello taking the white jersey.

That's a shitty way for one of the best races in cycling to end.  I really wish people could find a way to protest that wouldn't impact my favorite events.  Couldn't they hit some La Liga matches instead?

That's the flip side of the coin for cycling being such an accessible sport, it's way harder to regulate the bystanders. Everyone can just rock up to the open road!

Yep.  I totally get why they targeted La Vuelta.  I just selfishly wish they would find an alternative way to express their opinions.  My concern is that there will be copycat causes, and that this will be become a regular thing.  Let's hope it doesn't.
