Turner sucks.  There has only been one game per window all season.  The other game is on Univision en espanol.

TBS has to get that American Dad rerun money.

No. They need to win in the EPL, not the CL.

You wouldn’t have brought De Bruyne and Sane on in the 88th minute?

I would have.

But I want Liverpool to win the League, so I appreciate this move.

Good result for liverpool in both matches...puts pressure on city to put A squad out there...hopefully they get some tired legs in this rough stretch and drop some points to spurs/manu

I want city to go as far as reds go in cl to keep pressure on in epl...but i find it hard to root for city

Cheered loudly when spurs keeper saved pk

Not sure what the linesman was looking at but goal rightly given to Suarez.  Barca up 1-0.

Even though they've won a couple nice challenges down the pitch, Man U is trying to run with Barca and it might play out poorly for them.

I think the size of United's pitch is a real disadvantage for this particular United team against slick passing teams like Barcelona.

Expound? How is their pitch different?

It's bigger (that's what she said)

Christ gotta stick with the play there. Can't dive and trust that the ref is going to make a pen call on a toe touch.

I would imagine it’s quite wide. Most big clubs play on a wide pitch. I remember when United shrunk their’s a few yards before playing the Suarez LFC team a few years ago.

Old Trafford's pitch is bigger. Couple that with the fact they don't really ask their strikers to work back that hard and Pogba isn't going to put in a defensive shift, and gaps will open up for Barcelona as the game wears on. They were probably smart not to include Matic in this game. It's a bad opponent for him.

Messi's bleeding. We got blood!

Didn’t see Smalling’s hand hit him until the replay.  I was not expecting all that blood/cut.

Yup.  Call could’ve gone either way.

ManU needs to quit bitching and play the fucking match. Christ. Can't expect to get favorable treatment against Messi and the golden boys.

Really hope they bring on Martial for Young and drop Dalot back to RB

Valverde's loser tactics make Barcelona such a bore to watch despite a stacked roster.

Sorry... what match are you watching? Their passing and hold up play has been phenomenal. ManU was lucky to just let in 1 in that first half.

Are you drunk? Man U dominated from 15+ minutes onwards. Barcelona toiled away dinking it around before carelessly turning it over in their own half just about every time they got the ball. They got lucky on one bad bounce leading to a Coutinho shot, but other than that, Man U have marched through the MF in 3-4 passes almost every time they touch it. Barcelona are way too dependent on Messi magic when they set up this way; they need Dembele to stretch Man U on the counter. Their spacing is poor and they have no speed to break out right now.

Haven't they been playing on that same field size for years? And isn't that field pretty much status quo for the EPL out side of about a half dozen or so stadiums?

IMHO, the problem is the team they are playing, not the field.

You're reading too much into it. Playing this particular opponent on a bigger pitch is a disadvantage. That's all I said.

Yeah, it's always been bigger. Pretty sure it's the largest in the PL at the moment. Anfield is one of the smaller pitches in the league.

Yea Barcelona have struggled when United have pressed them. And started the second half the same with a giveaway at the back

Um yeah. Sure they did. That's why the have 0 shots on target. Barca got careless a few times but recovered well and defended the goal the entire half. ManU were letting Messi and Coutinho operate in way too much space - Barca doubled their pass count in the first half.

Maybe take your panties out of a wad and actually watch the game.

The press by ManU caused them a lot of problems. It wasn’t dominant by United but they were certainly very competitive.

And citing 0 shots on target is slightly disingenuous when United has 5 shots to Barca 3.

Frankly, it doesn't matter. My original claim was essentially that Valverde is annoyingly conservative in his tactics & personnel choices with no shortage of talent on his roster and it leads to a lot of "control-based" play where they don't create the thrills we saw under Pep and Enrique. It looks like Man U have lost some of their juice and aren't pressing here post-60th minute mark, so I imagine Barca is going to be able to slide in between the lines and create another goal here before it's over.

Ajax have been the better team. A 2nd goal would be huge going away next match, but it didn't matter going into Madrid either. Still not a trend I want to have to continue.

not sure that arm was in a natural position

Well at least he clearly saw Shaw handle it at midfield though.

Uefalona love at its finest
