The upside is that streaming pitchers against the Rangers is now a cheat code in fantasy baseball.

The age-old misery hedge. You sick bastard.

Probable starting pitcher matchups for this week's series at Boston:

Tues. - RHP Nathan Eovaldi vs. RHP Lucas Giolito
Wed. - RHP Tyler Mahle vs. RHP Tanner Houck
Thurs. - RHP Jack Leiter vs. RHP Brayan Bello

I know everyone wants to see Osuna but you'd think it has to be Evan.

It's been noted elsewhere, but a team claiming Leodys contract $4.75 million prorated would be high beneficial to our tax situation. Shadow, you got any thoughts on the chances of that?

Highly doubtful anyone will claim all that is left, somewhere around $3.7M. Could be a situation where there’s a handshake deal, they get Leody & half the cash for some scrub single-A P in return. We save $1.5-2M & get a warm body.

My two candidates are Royals & Padres. KC obviously knows him from Surprise, & their OFs are fucking awful.

SD has a big yard, they’re fucking starting decrepit Jason Heyward & the immortal Tyler Wade currently.

Leody gone too.

The land rush to claim Leody off waivers has officially begun.

I seem to recall he was one of our top prospects at one point?

I know the dumb question amnesty thread is over there >>>

but... What exactly does a baseball offensive coordinator do? Explain it to me like I'm 5, please.

Wondering the same thing. Is it the new name for Hitting\Batting Coach?

Theoretically, they're supposed to developed the overall strategy. Including, when to steal, bunt, ect. Where as the hitting coach is just supposed to focus on the hitters approach to the pitchers.

I would imagine, like football, the how much leeway an OC varies greatly in each organization.

Not exactly thrilled about Bret Boone. Not much out there on him other than he's been hosting a podcast and does some private lessons.

But hey why not. Quite literally can't be worse than whatever Ecker was supposedly doing.

Maybe 2 1/2 hitting coaches is going to revolutionize the game.

Berger and Leody were automatic power downs for me whenever they came to the plate. I’m glad they are gone. Hopefully they won’t regret losing patience on those guys.

Do we care if Leody gets picked up or not? I'm thinking he doesn't, either way. He does start to look like something potentially good once in a while, until he stops doing it. Hate to give up on things...which is why I have so much junk taking up space unnecessarily.

It seems odd to me that MLB teams actually have a “hitting coach”.   These guys with 50-60 million dollar contracts have been hitting with other guys for years….. hell tons of high school kids have a “hitting coach”.    Now they report to their team and have someone else as a “hitting coach” ….. just seems counter productive.

Who has 50-60 million dollar contracts other than the obvious 2?

And I believe it’s called being part of a team.  If you want to finagle around at D-Bat in your free time that’s up to you, but we’ve got a whole organization here from Rookie ball to the Instructional league up the chain to the bigs to get you ready.  You can use whatever outside to stay in shape or sharp if that helps, nothing replaces the team.
The team is not going to employ 13 different hitting coaches, and they’re not going to go without a coach. That part is simple.

Say what you want about the on-field product this season so far - it's refreshing to have an org that gives a shit. It was obvious some shake ups were needed and they pushed some big ones through. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but it would be a shame to waste what we've been getting from the mound.

Need Carter to find his shit again.

Um. Professional golfers have swing coaches.

They have Robles, Raley, Moore on the IL, Arozarena hurt too. They started Miles Mastrobuoni & Rhylan Thomas in the corners last night.

Nothing spells desperate like claiming Leody off waivers..,
