Oddly both espn and fangraphs say the Astros have a lower change of making the playoffs than the Mariners, despite being up one game.  Doesn't make a ton of sense to me becasue even the projected record shows Astros with .2 more wins than Mariners.

Work cut out for us this afternoon, but it’s been this way.  Putting this car together with scrap parts and sweat.

Yeah if their projected final record is essentially the same, then it would seem like their chances at everything would be fairly close. Maybe they have fewer tiebreaker wins vs likely wildcard teams. Texas for sure is one- pending the final series.

Baseball Reference is the same and also has higher PS odds for TEX and lower for HOU & SEA.

Ironically, Milwaukee is who really killed Kennedy.  Oswald was a big drinker, fucked his head up.

Completely insane season. Will they lose all this chemistry when injured starts start coming back?

Just getting into the playoff, this team would be a great baseball story for the ages.

hard to close the gap when everyone else keeps winning.

Didn't lose any ground!  Red Sox play the Yanks starting tomorrow and SEA/HOU still have a 3 game series to go next weekend. I was thinking the number for the Rangers was 86 (9-6), but after the results last night I think it might be 87 (10-5) or 88 (11-4; yikes!).

If you would’ve said a month ago that we would sweep the Brewers I would’ve looked at you like you had your head sewn to the carpet.  This late push is becoming exciting.

Baring the complete collapse of HOU or SEA, I’d go with 10-5 or 87-75 as the minimum to make it (especially since we don’t own the tie breakers w HOU or SEA) which is gonna be tough. We play 3 teams (NYM, HOU, CLE) in playoff contention on the road and 2 (MIA, MIN) teams that are out of it at home.
But hey - we swept the best team in baseball. Who knows?

Yanks have two series against the O's (7 games), and one against the @Red Sox, Twins and White Sox.  Red Sox have Yankees, A's, Rays, Blue Jays and end with a Tigers team that is hopefully still trying for the #1 seed. If the Yankees can get a sweep then 2 WC spots could be up for grabs.
