Per @EliasSports, tonight marked the first time in #Astros history for the club to use 5 lefty pitchers in the same game.

Also, the Astros are the third team in MLB history to use 5+ lefty pitchers and no righties in a game. Also done by the 2023 Marlins and 2008 Blue Jays.

Who wants to be the poor bastard whose job it is to fact check the MLB history stat.

I have no idea how many gays that is and can only imagine the eyestrain after reviewing box scores  on microfische from old Sporting News.

I will be like 10 seats in front of you then and I have been tasked by my lady friend to hold up Hunter Brown head cause she rocks the signs.  I have been trying to avoid it and let her do her own thing, but now I have an assignment.

The Phillies hitters are so bad that they couldn't hit a sign-stealing trashcan, if it was sitting on home plate.

Got the deep dive up on if pitchers have been getting lucky.  As with the hitters article from last week I came away happy after writing it and don't see anything unsustainable in there. If anything, the pitching has been better than you probably think it has been and will likely be even better going forward (if guys keep pitching like this).

So are we going to score 3 runs today (arithmetic) or 4 (geometric)?

Alright Hunter there was your 1

If Gordon, Okert, Sousa, King, and Hader can make it stand up I don't think we are being unreasonable in thinking Hunter is up to this task.

Definitely rooting for the 1-0 now.  Have we ever swept a 3 game series by 4-0?  3-0?  Has it ever happened?  Surely it has right?

I researched back to 1980 when you asked at the beginning of the month if we ever won 1-0 in back to back games and I don’t think it has.

some stretches where we win 1-0 and then 2-0 or 3-0 a day or two later, but never low scores like that 3 days in a row.

Yeah I remember that now.  I was more thinking had a 3-0 sweep ever happened in mlb history?  We definitely have the team where thes questions keep coming up.

OMG 100 pitches, get him out!!1!  I hate that modern baseball hates letting guys try to be great.  Reminds me of pulling Altuve when he's 4 for 4.

I’m pretty sure it’s happened in mlb history, and pretty recently well… I feel like I just heard about someone doing this.

For the Astros, I think this week in 1983 is as close as you are going to get:

I was thinking of the reds. They lost three straight 1-0 apr 1-3, but two against the rangers and 1 against the brewers

I seem to recall some week in 1979 or early '80 when we played a home series against somebody and blanked them. Not positive it was three shutouts, but had to be close. We hit them with Richard, then Niekro, then Ryan, I think. Struck me as an unfair fight.

Gotta get out of this clean. We've been able to ask series, but sooner or later we're gonna get bit
