We’re 69 games, 42.5%, of the way through the season, having faced the 9th hardest strength of schedule of the majors.

Let’s assess where we stand.

Of our opening day 2-4 hitters:

One has played in 29 games (none since May 2, and likely after the All Star break before he plays in another) and has a WAR of -0.5

Another will be lucky to avoid an IL stint

And the third has an OPS of .643

On the pitching side, 3 of our opening day rotation are on the IL (and have only given you 17 starts)

16 starts (23%) have come from Ryan Gusto, Colton Gordon and Brandon Walter

Forrest Whitley has been DFA’d

We’re 9 games over .500 with the 3rd best record in the AL and currently sitting with a 5 game lead in the West with a chance to be 5.5 up at the end of the night if the Guardians can break a 2-2 tie in the 6th and hold on to beat the M’s in Seattle.

Whether lucky or good, Dana is living right.

Go team!

2 aces and a great bullpen make up for a lot of ills.

Sprained ankle. Almost certainly an IL stint.

Every time any player wobbles or otherwise falters from normal stride or throwing motion, my brain just goes, "Welp, they're gone for 6 months at least."

Meanwhile hockey and football players beat the living shit out of each other.  It's just fucking weird.

When's the last time we had someone at .333 this far into the season? Yuli 21?

Pena is like top 3 in WAR right now, he's having the best season of his career. Would be awesome if he could steal an MVP from Judge this year, but I don't think it's gonna last another 100 games. In any case, I'm glad they didn't trade him for Arozarena.

I'm going to the game today, fortunate to get a Hunter Brown start instead of an AAA guy. Game time is 3:10, how early does batting practice start? We will be by the right field ball boy, so we should have a good shot at getting a ball or 2.

BP should be ongoing when gates open at 1:10

You're asking the wrong training staff.

He wasn't playing. He never should have been brought up, because Espada refuses to play young guys unless he's forced to due to injury. Why isn't Guillorme and Hummel in the lineup today? Caratini has been ass in June, 3 fucking hits so far 28 ABs. Rodgers has been ass all season. Ryan is a RHP, so adding Guillorme and Hummel both guys that can take walks seems like a fucking easy thing to do.

This is why Altuve is a DH now, and we should really try to trade Alvarez in the offseason and bring in some left handed bats that can acutally play defense.

Today, I would have gone

Pena, Hummel, Altuve, Diaz, Walker, Smith, Meyers, Guillorme, Dubon.

Well, yes there's that.  Whitcombe and Guillorme are equally qualified to sit on the bench and watch Dubon and Rodgers waste ABs.
