= 13-5 record this month

Pena is on pace for 207 hits this year

28 (out of 77) multi-hit games.

10 with 3 or more.

have a first half, sir

Hader is up to 5 wins already.

Doug Jones has the franchise record for relief wins with 11 in '92.  He was 11-8 with 36 saves and a 1.85 ERA.  That's a ton of decisions out of the pen along with a lot of saves.  8 losses with a 1.85 ERA is impressive.

Juan Agosto was 10-2 out of the pen in '88 and 9-8 in '90 on 82 appearances.  That's also a shit ton of decisions and appearances.

Thats a name I haven’t head in long, long time.gif

Those late 80s/early 90s Astros’ teams were the definition of mediocrity (‘88 82-80 and ‘92 81-81 in particular).

Also a different time on bullpen usage back then

Agosto 75 appearances in ‘88

’92 had three guys with 75+ appearances (X-man 77, Jones 80, Joe Boever (who?!) 81).

Hader had like 5 losses by now last season, dude kept getting sent out for 2 innings at a time in tied/extra inning games, and would inevitably give up a home run. He looks significantly better this season, as does the rest of the pen.  If we can get some more pitchers back off the IL, this team will have more good arms than Vishnu.

Odd year Hader.

he’s money in odd years.

of course we’re only paying for 2 odd years and 3 even years…

I remember as a kid the talk that Saberhagen was an odd year guy and thinking that didn't make sense and not really getting it.  Looks like it was true for his time in KC at least.

Hunter Brown on the hit-by-pitch and exchange with Zach Neto: "Honestly, he almost swung. So I don’t know what he’s talking about. Guy stands right on top of the plate, doesn’t like when he gets hit, that’s his problem."

Absolutely perfect. Wants to act tough by being on the plate then is a little bitch when a pitch maybe 3 inches up and maybe 3 inches inside hits him.

Fuck outta here with that shit.

When do we call up Brice Matthews? Before the ASB or will they keep him playing regularly in AAA? This organization does love Dubon and if you call up Matthews, he either pushes Dubon back into a utility role of the bench or he rides the bench and doesn't play regularly.

Would not be shocked if Matthews is traded for a lefty bat. I think he should already be the everyday 2B for the Astros. Just like when Melton gets back home needs to be in the OF everyday. Relying on Meyers and Dubon is stupid.

I mean- when he stops striking out all the time?

Brice Matthews at home:
.178/.315/.211, .526 OPS

On the road:
.336/.441/.656, 1.097 OPS

Yeah Dana more or less said the same on his Sunday GM segment last week

Questions for season ticket holders …@Wulaw Horn ?

I got tickets for Friday and bringing my 10 yo and couple of his cousins and looking to get there early and catch BP

my tickets say “Renewal EE”

does that stand for “early entry” and does that give me early access? (30 minutes before regular gates open, I think)?

I believe that’s right. I’m allowed to enter early with mine- if you hit them from someone, probably?

Sir, he is not striking out almost 65% of the time.

Holy shit, that's bad.

he's playing for every day in AAA, learning and hopefully growing. let him make a push next spring training

Thats early entry. Get to park by 4pm. You'll get to go in at 430pm. Either home plate or center field entrance only. Either go to Crawford boxes and or right field. Less people in right field. If you have kids have them go to first row in right field. Higher chances for a toss up

Awesome. Yeah i was thinking hit LF for the Astros and move to right for the Cubs/PCA/Tucker but it’ll be a shit show with the cubs in town so may just camp in right from the start. Who knows, maybe Yordan will be swinging a bat on Friday! (In which case pigs will also be flying)

My mid-40s self is just excited about:

Lance McCullers Jr. played catch today and is scheduled to throw again tomorrow; if that goes well he could throw from a mound Monday, Joe Espada said.
