I snuck on to the field and did the same thing, spreading my Dads ashes out in RF in 2019. We used to watch 50+ games a year together in section 134. Made me a Stros fan since birth. He had the best s

It must be nice to know that you can’t be fired no matter how shitty you are at your job.

Fuck Arizona for tanking for us into believing this was sustainable. We need to be sellers, this team is going to fall apart over the last 2 months. Too many injuries, and you can always count on Espada to mismanage the bullpen moving forward.

Neris never would have been signed this season if it weren't for all our injuries.

There are probably better options available sitting at home. Like David Robertson, who just signed with the Phillies.

This is what this dogshit lineup really is.  The Astros are lucky not to be about 10 games worse.

100%, and now we are seeing the regression for all these relievers that have likely pitched over their heads all season.

We are 29-18 over the last 2 months including tonight.

When the pitching staff gives up 5+ runs the Astros are 2-13. When the pitching staff gives up 4-, they are 27-5.

Well, at least my Sunday is free now. I’m not watching this trash tomorrow.

Losing 3 out 4 (at best) to the Homeless A’s should make you a seller. Throwing away assets on rentals to not make playoffs or lose first round is dumb. Save your powder. Good gritty run but 162 game schedule and injuries will expose all.

First place was fun and all but this team makes being a front runner extremely uncomfortable

Every team has rough patches.   Even teams leading their division.   It’s never fun to lose, but y’all need a bit of perspective.

We knew who the Athletics were, we knew who they were, and we left them off the hook!

sooner or later, hopefully sooner, we need to get some players back

what astros have gone on the DL this season and actually returned to the active roster?

chas and ort? both of whom suck and won’t be on a playoff roster. i’m sure there are a few others but seems like not one actual contributor has returned.

The AZ series was fun, but it was fools gold. We've got a rotation with just 2 legit MLB-caliber starters and a lineup that routinely has more spots occupied by AAA dreck than MLB regulars.  A spare tire should ideally only be on you car long enough to get to a tire shop. You shouldn't be driving around with 2 regular tires and 2 donuts for several months.

Hummel starts several games a week and is arguably the worst-hitting OF to ever don an Astros jersey. He and Chas have made a combined 170 plate appearances and produced 7 RBI, accounting for -1.5 WAR. Neither should be anywhere close to an MLB roster in the Year of Our Lord 2025, much less taking 7-8 ABs a night on a team with its sights on the playoffs.

There's not really any feasible scenario where this team is fixable via trade in the next few days. In some alternate fantasy world where Jake and Paredes never get hurt, Yordan comes back mid-Summer and is starting to heat up, and Pena's return is imminent, sure, go out and grab an OF and an SP and try to make a run. That ain't reality. We have probably 5 or 6 spots on the 25-man roster spots that need to be replaced, not 1 or 2.

I was writing something almost exactly like this but you said it well. This is the reality.

Well we finally have a full lineup alternating left and right handed hitters. Dana for GM of the year!

that doesn’t seem so bad considering everyone was losing their shit over nick kurtz friday and he only had 8 rbi.

Another thing that sucks with our roster at the moment is how many guys are having to be used significantly above what they're ready/suitable for:

Cam is obviously MLB-ready but should be batting 7th or 8th on a healthy team.

Brice clearly has athletic talent but should be be in Sugar Land until mid-'26.

A guy like Walter should be on call in the minors as late season pitching depth, not getting worn out as a main piece of the MLB rotation.

Hummel/Gusto/Alexander are names none of us should recognize. Neris and Singleton are names we should only recognize as former Astros.

Hell, some of these guys aren't every day players in AAA.

Where the fuck is Pena?  Dezenzo? Melton?

About to give up on Alvarez, how the fucking surgery or fucking grab a bat and play because at the rate he heals it is questionable he will be ready for next year.

Seriously, when does he make the jump to coach pitch, and then a league that allows base runners to take leads?

I don't know what is wrong with him,  don't know how he is feeling, but this sure feels like this isn't the Astros medical staff.

Does anyone recall if there was this much issue about the knee before the microfracture surgery?

I've been an Astros fan since Joe Morgan was on the team, and this is the worst assemblage of batters (don't call them "hitters") I can recall. Several of these guys wouldn't have merited ABs in the darkest days of the franchise. But sure, they're going to turn it around any day now.

Injury Updates from @Astros GM Dana Brown, talking with @raford3 during pregame:

- Spencer Arrighetti will make another rehab start, and if all goes well, is expected to re-join the big league club after that.

- Cristian Javier will be "shortly after him"

- Brown thinks Jeremy Peña "will be back here soon". Could be as early as August 1st. Wants to get him in a few rehab games and then get him back with the club.

- On Yordan Alvarez: "Ramping up his workload" and once he gets through that hurdle, "get him on some lives"; Wants a short stint wherever he goes next, "I'll take a 75% Yordan Alvarez over some of the guys we have now." Sounds like live pitching then a few rehab games.

- On Lance McCullers, had been dealing with the blister. Want to get him throwing again, get him stretched out. "Hopefully get him back in a few weeks."

- On Brandon Walter: Thinks he'll be out maybe 3 weeks or so, hopefully get him tossing a ball soon.

- On Isaac Paredes: "A little bit more severe than we had projected." Getting a second opinion, will know more in the next week. "Tough to be optimistic when it's a little more than severe."'

- On Trade Deadline: We were already looking for a left-handed bat, and potential an infielder. Says there's a good chance they will have to trade from the major league roster to get a deal done. #BuiltForThis
