I snuck on to the field and did the same thing, spreading my Dads ashes out in RF in 2019. We used to watch 50+ games a year together in section 134. Made me a Stros fan since birth. He had the best s

They need to do it this year before he spends the rest of the season striking out at a 40% clip.

Honestly, Correa is something you do to sell tickets and jerseys.  You can't honestly say it's about making a playoff run when there is no guarantee he'll be available (or hitting) in several more weeks.

A friend just texted me that if a Correa deal happens, Willi Castro could be included.

Oh good,  trade for an overpriced, broken down infielder AND a career sub .250 hitting outfielder with little power and a career OPS just over .700.

Especially considering all the depth the Astros have right now, though I am sure the Twins would make that trade for Trammell and Hummel.

Tell your friend to stop texting you the hypotheticals he created with the trade calculator on some website.

Nah, this is from another website where someone who is friends with a front office person posts.  They have been right about deals several times in the past.  The twins want to get rid of salary before the team is sold.

Does Dana Brown not have the Baltimore Orioles’ GM’s cell number? They are in sell mode.

I'm old and love me some nostalgia.  I like a good story and a Correa reunion/resurgence would be awesome.  We need a 3B, and I hate Suarez' hair.

So based on this data-driven, unbiased, non-emotional analysis, I'm 100% in on Correa.

I know that Angelos is no longer the owner, but fuck ever doing business with Baltimore on principal alone.

He’s hitting better post All Star break in a small sample size.

His rather inexplicable loss of power is concerning, though.  He’s also having his worst year defensively by WAR.

I would still add him at a low cost because the Astros need talent and can shuffle guys around (or out) after the season.

Astros getting Correa and Cease plus a rental LH bat and a rental RH RP.  Informed speculation.

Losing Paredes really, really fucked this lineup of AAA scrubs and underperforming shitbirds like Diaz and Walker. His plate discipline and ability to drive up pitch counts in his ABs, let alone his Crawford Box power, is something we are sorely missing and I don't see any improvement thereof on the horizon. It's hard not to be pessimistic with all the injuries and no real hope of any lineup salvation on the trade front. Correa would help some of course, and maybe the change of scenery would see his performance at the plate improve.

The main thing Correa would add (which others could too, but definitely him) is a boost to the fucking clubhouse.  Our guys seem very just....blah.  We need some of that shit back in our clubhouse.  Altuve and Pena would nut themselves if Correa was sent to us.

Well and defense

Clubhouse DJ is sucking ass this year.

i could go for the following, I would be sad to see the big guy go, but we aren’t going to sign him to a long term deal… he eventually gone

Yordan, Chas, Brice Matthews, Okert, & Ort

for Henderson, O’Hearn, Holliday, Morton, thrown in for all you nostalgic types, and that other Effin pitcher.

You would trade for Gunnar Henderson? You don't say!

Correa not in lineup today. Complained of lightheadedness yesterday. Always something. I’m sure we will trade for him and his eardrum will probably burst on the flight down here and then break his leg leaving the plane.

“Lightheadedness” from dreaming of being in a bunch of all new HEB Commercials and receiving all those good good H-Town happy endings

if the twins are picking a nice chunk of that contract, you pull the trigger

First, Pena would have to be in the clubhouse and not fucking Sugarland.

Second, Carlos isn't adding defense.

Third, this team needs pitching and not a bad case of deja vu' and this smells like a Crane move similar to getting Verlander a second time when he really didn't do shit, took up pay roll, and when it mattered didn't win games.

This team with or without Carlos isn't winning games 8-6 in the play offs.  They aren't getting past Detroit with their pitching or outscoring Toronto.

I was good with a number of the late trades in the past because the team was put in a position to compete in the play offs, but this is a desperation move and that is when you make big mistakes.

Dana needs to take the phone away from Crane, tell Jim to fire him if he wants, and protect the club from another sentimental mistake because they don't need to tie up money when they already have too much tied up in Montero and Abreu,  have a player in Altuve who really needs to be a full time DH, and if they want to make a bold move, move Alvarez.  Yes, that might sound stupid, but something doesn't feel right about the hand, this is his third extended period on the injured list, second with the hand, and if this thing is chronic and he won't do surgery if isn't going to magically go away.

Fuck this, his contract runs at least until 2028 and possibly as long as 2032.

If Crane greenlights this he better start signing every fucking Astros to long term deals beyond the age of 30 because not only are you doing what you say you won't do, but throwing money at older versions of the players you could have had when they were healthier and better players.

Exactly.  You're breaking your own cardinal rule about long-term deals with a guy that you know, for a fact, has injury issues.  The only way this makes any sense is if the other guys are eating at least half of his remaining deal.  Otherwise, it begs questions like why didn't we keep Tucker or Bregs?

And yes, I am open to Correa coming back and hitting .425 with 6 bombs in a World Series run to shut me the fuck up.

But I think we all know it's more likely that he's on the IL next to LMJ by that point.

Depends on how much of the contract Minnesota pays.

This is the same guy that added Abreu and Walker and cost his team millions and mulitple draft choices. He also could have resigned Verlander, and instead let him sign with the Mets and then traded two really good prospects to reaquire him. Since Crane fired Luhnow and started putting his thumb more on the scale, the Astros have returned to the ways of Drayton McLane.

Which is going to be sizable bc they want and need out of it.

Bingo, plus the one small issue that he is on the fucking roster/payroll for at least 3 more years which already has Altuve who basically is a DH until he retires and Alvarez who may never play the piano or hit for power ever again.

I don't want to here about how the Astros can move Carlos in the off-season, BULLSHIT!!! Who in the league doesn't know about his injury history as he failed 1 or was it 2 physicals, they can see the declining skills, and the length of his time on the il each year.

If these particulars were for any other player than Carlos most of the board would be up in arms.  You don't make these type of decisions based upon sentiment.

Those two prospects suck in the Mets organization currently

Man i was really noncaring if we got Correa or not, but now i want him just so PG loses his shit more

You don't remarry the gold digger whore who left you just because she was a really good fuck and you are currently alone because things change over time and if she does stay around this time you are going to have to pay her to go away which is worse than her simply leaving you the first time.

Already lost it when I read Pena was playing in Sugarland and the Astros were rolling out a guy hitting .200 at short.

What it will do is make me not care and just turn my attention to football and the F1 drivers' championship.

I can support a team with injuries because I am, I have and will a support a team that is bad, but someone who makes fucking panic dumbarses decisions that contradict what is supposedly your cardinal rule of operation just so you don't give up the spotlight to the Texans?

Pull this trade off and I hope the rumors I have been told about Crane wanting to sell are true.

Wait, selling at the deadline?

The issue isn't the dollar amount,

If they were trading Matthews and bag of ball to take Carlos for a couple of years period so be it.

Taking Carlos on your roster for AT LEAST 3 years and possibly 6-7 is nothing short of fucking stupid because of how much it ties your hands with the roster.

1 minute ago, David Dennison said:

No, Crane considering if he should sell the franchise period.

Well chafin and garcia traded from Nats so we don't have to deal with those badasses anymore today

5 minutes ago, David Dennison said:

If Dylan Cease means parting ways with Yainer, do you do the deal?

No,  you really don't have an everyday catcher on the roster or in your system.

The guy they drafted last year could be the guy at catcher.  That said, Cease is a rental so no way would I give up Yainer for him.

Today I learned.

Also, if the Twins are in the financial hole they supposedly are in and don't want to the be the Barcelona of the MLB then exactly how much of Carlos' contract are they willing to keep on their books and for how many years?

So you trade for Cease to help you this year and the plan is to replace your starting catcher with a guy who is hitting .260 at high A ball?

Where the hell is Mike from Dairy Ashford when we need him?

Edited by PGFrog

I don't think they would eat a lot of it.  They want money off their books before the sale.  The Astros taking it on are why I'm not against it because you wouldn't have to send much.  Also the chances of Correa getting the last 3 years of his deal aren't very high.

Read what I said.  I wouldn't do Cease for Yainer.

So you are merely tying up $33M a year for 3 years for an average at best player on a roster that needs serious reworking and you are looking at having to pay some people pretty damn soon.
