Damn right, Cammi didn't miss games.

I am going to go angry "old' man on this but when your 27 year old shortstop who is one of your best remaining offensive players needs to take a scheduled day off for load management purposes or whatever bull shit excuse, especially after he was out 6+ weeks during a fucking pennant race something is very, very wrong.

Next rant will be about why flannel uni's are much better than these space age fabrics.

Pena better be in a FUCKING hospital bed in some ICU unit in the medical center to miss a second game and fuck this summer cold bullshit.  Seriously he needs to be suffering from something you would only hear about on an episode of House.

I am going to completely ignore the fact fucking Melton is in centerfield and go with the theory that Espada had a small stroke prior to writing out that lineup because there is no other explanation.

Josh Hader just spoke and it is way too much to summarize here, but the gist is that a return this regular season is not likely, but there is some hope he could come back for the postseason in a one-inning only role.

What does that even mean

So he can have a 3 pitch inning but he’s done, the same as if it takes him 26 pitches like it usually does to get through one inning?

i can testify, the cold bug that's going around houston will knock you on your ass

also, did peña get the cold from my gf too ???

Cal Ripken Jr. didn't get sick.

he was smart enough to stay away from my gf !

Obviously you aren't Kevin Costner if you aren't eskimo brothers with RIpken.

Sorry, but this is complete bull shit with 39 games to go and Alvarez is hitting off a tee in fucking Florida and Pena is out with a cold.  Pretty sure Zach died from that hand bruise he suffered two months ago and there is no logical explanation for Melton being in the line up.

Dude, the reality is the game has changed.

Ripken at 40/50/60% was better than any pitcher he was facing as well as his backup.

Guys that aren’t 100% (or close to it) going against guys that are is a failure waiting to happen

Also, Meyers is close to a rehab assignment and Paredes is here in Houston and has been riding a bike. https://t.co/Ud8NoxEj9b

Peña is still under the weather but is at the ballpark today."He's going to do some baseball activity and try to sweat some of that stuff off," Espada said. "He's a lot better today." https://t.co/GEdhLCQmAc

Fuck that,  if he can do "baseball activity" he can fucking play.

If there ever was a reminder just how much a game they play and not real life it is that thread.

Serious,  can you imagine some guy on a loading dock or part of a roofing crew somewhere who tells there boss I can do some roofing activities today or try to move some pallets with the electric jack today, but I just am not ready for a full day of work.

No,  the Astros medical staff has fucked up enough, but I don't believe that is what has happened and is happening with Alvarez nor why Pens can do baseball activity and isn't playing .

Funny how when you aren't willing to pay the bills and feed your kids these decisions get complicated.

Our big left handed bat acquisition is already sitting on the bench against a right handed pitcher. He’s like 0 for 18 or some shit but damn not a good look. And I’m not mad if Melton plays instead of Trammell. Trammell is not good and he has proven it for multiple years and multiple teams. They’ve got to give Melton a chance at some point so can decide if he’s worth a playoff roster spot or not. Assuming we even make playoffs. They both suck right now but one has a track record of suck and one still has a chance to prove he doesn’t. If Sanchez isn’t going to play against right handers the outfield is back to where we were a month ago.

Melton is on the playoff roster imo as our base stealer.

The Astros what?  Don't you have to get on base to do that?

The pitcher last night had 6 era and was 0-6.

Hope we make the playoffs because having a one-armed Hader, one-handed Alvarez, one legged Meyers, and one-legged Paredes back in time is going to make us scary as hell.

Yes, that is is it, Cal was just so different that he naturally played all those games and it had nothing to do with mindset.

Your last line basically pisses all over everything that makes sport great.  The movies are make believe, but sport, that is something we can relate to or could which is why I would rather watch play off hockey instead of play off NBA.

Melton was highly touted in the minors, but has yet to show why in the majors. Looks overmatched in pretty much every AB

He was highly touted in the majors bc of skill set not production imo. He’s got a broken hit tool and I have very little faith in him ever becoming a really good player.
if he fixed the hit tool he will be a well above average player but most guys don’t. Bet against.

Correa leading off has potential. Altuve has said many times he doesn’t want to bat lead off. Might as well flip them.

Peña has really been good in that spot. I’d not mess with that once he gets back. Yordan needs to hit 2 if he’s coming back here like it has been alleged he might.

Damn shame Jeremy got hit with those seasonal allergies.  Poor guy might never be the same.

#13198

Altuve could really learn a lot from Correa’s approach in these situations.

thats the 2nd time this week that Correa has gone the opposite way just poking the ball through the infield to drive in a run
