The Astros put Bennett Sousa on the 15-day IL with "left elbow inflammation." Craig Kimbrel is here and will wear No. 46.

Logan VanWey was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land to clear a spot on the 26-man roster for Lance McCullers Jr. to make tonight's start. Brandon Walter was moved to the 60-day IL to clear a 40-man spot for Craig Kimbrel.

Is that a real injury, or a "rest an overworked reliever" injury?

Probably the latter but I'd sure as hell rather have Sousa give me an inning tonight than Kimbrel

I am just glad that LMJ’s “Traumatic Blister Injury” is all cleared up. Eagerly awaiting his IR for an upcoming stubbed toe.

Weak stuff.

Yordan can bat leadoff and play LF, but it is too hard for Altuve to do it when Pena was out?

So what’s the plan when Yordan comes back? Tuve back to left, or chance him more than we have at 2B? From an offensive standpoint, 2B seems far superior.

This is assuming Yordan is basically relegated to DH to protect him, of course. Maybe that’s not the case.

It’s a hand issue. Shouldn’t stop him from playing in the field if necessary.

Lance had some nice action on his pitches to the last 2 batters.

Yes but he’s reliant on hitters chasing to get outs. I don’t think he can throw 3 strikes to a hitter and at some point, they will stop swinging at those breaking balls.

Yeah most good pitchers just groove them right down the middle.

That’s not what I’m saying. He can’t even throw a strike when Holliday is taking at 3-0.

I wish we had a catcher who could throw someone out. I havent paid attention but hopefully thats Janeks specialty

see him in 2027

Bennett Sousa is en route to Houston to be examined by team doctors, Joe Espada said. Sousa complained of elbow pain after his outing on Tuesday. The Astros hoped it would abate after resting a couple days. It did not.

Cam is obviously talented and I think has a bright future, but he will benefit from the offseason and come back strong next year. He got lucky on his first AB with a seeing eye hit, but he's really struggling.

He needs to be sent down. Has needed to happen for a month. He’s wanted the demotion by being terrible for 2 months now, but when you consider the huge savings of getting an extra year it’s borderline malpractice to not make that move.

I'm actually OK with him staying up. I think struggling against big league pitchers will benefit him, long term.
