March 27Mar 27 A thread for all things brown. I discovered the lads circa 1994, a bit after Chocolate and Cheese. But I utterly wore out The Mollusk CD. I decided this was the band I'd be in or start, if I had any musical ability. I saw them live just once, but it delivered. Including some ladies coming on stage during LMLYP and making out. Also hoping by flowing some positive into the Ween-o-verse that they tour again and come around Texas. Deaner was taking a break. No idea current status. Favorite albums: Mollusk C&C 12 Golden Country Greats - Best country album that year, probably many other years as well Pure Guava GodWeenSatan Songs Too many. So we'll pick the one that should have been
March 27Mar 27 One of my top 5 bands. I’ve seen them 20 times since my first time at Liberty Lunch in 1997. I hope they are able to tour again in the next few years. The first reunion weekend in CO was pretty amazing. My Ween highlight was HalloWEEN weekend in Denver a few years ago when they did 100 different songs over 3 nights.
March 27Mar 27 first exposure to them was bonaroo 2002. have seen them many times since...several shows at stubb's, new orleans, dallas, flagstaff, red rocks. last time was at moody amphitheater a few years ago. have also seen both of them with their respective solo projects. haven't kept up with all the drama over the years but i know the vibe hasn't really been the same since gener got sober. hopefully they can tour again once deaner figures his shit out. bartender at falling rock tap house (RIP) comped my tab once after we talked about ween for 30 minutes.
March 27Mar 27 I first saw them at ACLFest back in 2003. When they played "Zoloft" I was hooked. https://archive.org/details/ween2003-09-21.mbho.flac16/ween2003-09-21_mbho_d1t01.flac Then another time they played ACL Fest. Only saw them live on their own outside a festival once after Cucaracha. Hell of a show. Probably my all time favorite tune of theirs. I just belly laugh every time I hear it.
March 27Mar 27 So many people with similar taste to me are super into Ween, but I've never quite gotten it at the same level. Although "Piss Up a Rope" just cracks me up to no end.

I was always "I need to check those guys out, even though they seem like a novelty act because of "Push the Little Daisies" on Beavis and Butthead, because so many people with similar taste to me dig them." But I just didn't. Literally was like "well, no one else I care about is playing this time slot, lets go check out Ween." After seeing them once, it was like a lightbulb went off. Dug them ever since.
March 27Mar 27 it's a different thing live for sure. i don't even really like the albums prior to chocolate & cheese but i love most of that material in concert.
March 27Mar 27 saw this yesterday...their kids are playing a show together. https://consequence.net/2025/03/ween-children-playing-gig-together/
March 27Mar 27 wish the sound was better but i really like this acoustic show from 1994. there's someone sitting in on violin for a lot of the songs and the whole thing is really mellow and unlike any other ween show i've ever heard. https://archive.org/details/Ween1994-09-01/Ween1994-09-01t03.flac
March 27Mar 27 Author Saw that too. I'll have to check their various bands/music out. From a couple of weeks ago. At least Deaner is in a studio. Maybe his kid can help get them back going again.

March 30Mar 30 They lived in New Hope PA, which is quite close to where I live. Anyway, this is my favorite Ween song:
April 1Apr 1 Missed this thread until now. Such a great band. Got into them in the mid 90s. Saw them in Dallas in 2003. Saw them again in Dallas in 2024 with my older son, and they still were as good as the first time I saw them. I finally got most of the vinyl I wanted (C&C through Quebec). I hope they're able to pull it together and get back on stage at least occasionally, but hopefully Deaner can really get healthy first. A good friend of mine was at the Stubb's show and remarked that the encore really was something. 😺 I just wish the uncropped video still was floating around. Edited April 1Apr 1 by dcbc
April 1Apr 1 Can't get enough of this . . . ever. Love the story about recording this song for the album. Things weren't working out on the solo. With some help of one of the guys on their crew, they took a mobile recording unit out, broke into Carlos Santana's gear locker, and used his gear to record the guitar solo that went on the album. That. Is. Brown. Edited April 1Apr 1 by dcbc
April 4Apr 4 Author Found it. First, and sadly only, Ween concert I attended: 8/14/1999 (Saturday) Deep Ellum Live, Dallas, Texas What Deaner Was Talkin' About, The Golden Eel, Now I'm Freaking Out, Piss Up a Rope, Freedom of '76, Don't Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy), Tick, Waving My Dick in the Wind, Pandy Fackler, Mister Richard Smoker, Voodoo Lady, Back to Basom, Roses Are Free, Buckingham Green, Even If You Don't, Take Me Away, Puerto Rican Power, Doctor Rock, I Can't Put My Finger on It, The Mollusk, The HIV Song, Spinal Meningitis (Got Me Down), A Tear For Eddie, The Stallion pt 3, The Blarney Stone, She Wanted to Leave, Ocean Man, Poopship Destroyer Encore: You Fucked Up, Fat Lenny, LMLYP - Queens of the Stone Age opened Ha. Holy shit on the opener. I had no idea back then and I think we missed it. D'oh. https://brownbase.org/setlist.php?band=Ween&show_id=428
