One of the contacts for the battery has corroded and broke. Anybody know a place to repair something like this? I have a lot of waypoints saved on it so marketplace isn’t a real option.

They sell a ton of smart watches.  I suppose the market for navigation is pretty dead, but not sure.

And to answer the question, here's a repair guide and the comments have suggestions on finding parts.

Looks easier than changing an O2 sensor.

They are a huge player in the aviation navigation market.

Yeah, I look at planes on the web quite a bit and I get targeted ads for like $10k Garmin front mounted Doppler radars

very popular for rally/desert/adventure/sail boat racing, Garmin isn't going anywhere.

I have one of those hand held units like that I bought years ago, never really used. It was right when GPS started showing up in everybody's phone. I guess I should do something with it, when I find it again. It's here somewhere.

I've had a lot of acid leak things that I was able to clean up if they weren't totally borked internally, with some spray electronic cleaner and a toothbrush, or maybe denatured alcohol. I have a Zoom HM recorder I wish I could fix that still works with an adapter, but not much good out in the field.

Are you wanting to fix the gps to use it or rescue the gps coordinates?

You might could solder an external triple battery holder into the +/- terminals and get the thing to turn in. Use whatever cable to download a waypoint file off the unit. Might not be usable in that condition but you might could save your data. Once you have the data you can upload to a gps app on your phone and use that. You might be able to upload directly into Garmin Explore.

And yeah, Garmin pretty much owns the non-commercial marine and aviation markets.

Both, really.  I would like to still use it for mainly distance tracking.
