IT's that damned thread on Daily Texan making fun of Bing's Sydney AI bot.  That crazy bitch fought back.

automatic failovers back as well.

So a server blew up, not sure what happened, but it seems to have hosed the network between one of the more important servers (BIG) and the rest of the systems, I had to take BIG out of rotation and put it back in and configure everything back to the way it was. Very strange and none of it made sense, had to do a hard reboot of the system because nothing would bring the networking back to normal including restarting the networking service on the machine.

No this was very strange, there was a bunch of link down messages but only on the internal side of the network and on multiple machines. It's like someone was in my rack unplugging shit, but it's in a secured area so I'm trying to figure out what happened without something physically happening.

The one server that blew up (or that i think blew up) is also not powered down, so it's even less obvious what happened. I'll keep everyone posted not that you care, just to document it out in the open.

Was it a host-level failure or an OS-level failure? Maybe a local rack power issue? I always love a good post-outage RCA, its where all the interesting shit is

Good thing you're not ex-Navy or that could have a completely different meaning. Ask BL.

Like others, still getting the search feedback bar and clicking the x redirects to a spam page and also results in a 504 error until I refresh the page.

edit: tried it a couple more times, no more 504 error but still getting redirected when trying to click anything in the bar and it's never the same page that loads up on the redirect.

Think someone hax0red your shit?

I was afraid I was going to have to talk about my so-called "feelings."  Ain't got time for that kind of stuff!

Prolly need to go ahead and buy some more internets and insert those internets into the servers to establish more internet reliability. But I don’t want to tell you how to do your job.

Wait, you got some Best Buy coupons to contribute to this, or are you just an "idea" guy?

Excuse me but I’m an IT “consultant”, so it should be obvious I provide only platitudes and minimally helpful solutions.

But not actively malicious, eh? Must be TCS, not Accenture

i am also getting the "search feedback" sticky banner that redirects to weird fuckin... ebaumsworld.porn or this shit that is clearly targeted for @CHAD BRISCOE

Damn, now I want a steak and cheese with extra peppers from Blimpie. Shit hit hard back in the day

I have a popup at the top of my screen asking if my search worked: "yes" or "no."

I didn't search anything.

I clicked "yes" once to make it go away and went to a map of a small Swedish town.

I clicked "no" once and it sent me to Burnt Ends.

Yeah, get rid of this annoying shit. If you click the close X, it does a redir, fucking malware. Ublock can't even seem to block it. Can zap it but it is right back on next page load, as you scroll down, so it is embedded in the forum software.

it isn't - a fix should be going out in the next few minutes.

My screen.

(Edit, now that I'm finished eating dinner: It's the redirect I didn't ask for when I clicked out of the "search" banner).

Well, this is a fun new feature. It pops up on every single page. Yes, I question my own sanity at times, but I do know that I'm a real boy... just like Pinocchio

Ditto.

Take the hint and start questioning your reality

On mobile, I’m unable to close the ad on the bottom of the screen because the close button is obscured by the back to top arrow. Surely this is a violation of the Surly Horn’s terms of service, under which you can be internationally persecuted under Federal and State Statutes.
