July 22Jul 22 It’s injecting Nazi and fascist discourse into the popular consciousness as something to debate as opposed to something that isn’t worth considering. It shouldn’t be watched and people like Hasan shouldn’t take part.
July 23Jul 23 Average jubilee debater: Yeah. That’s why you’re demonized. It’s totally not because of you wearing the gear of totalitarian genocidal death camp-running jackboots we had to fight a whole fucking war against.

I think he was told he was going to be debating more mainstream MAGA types rather than just a straight up bunch of outright, terminally online Nazis. July 23Jul 23 A couple interesting points in this discussion. Mehdi implies he was duped, indicated he was expecting more normal MAGA rather than crazies and acknowledged a tension between giving these people a platform vs. showing how dumb they are. He also indicates that they cut out some extremely racist stuff and he wasn't able to talk about it.

I gotta say here that agreeing to debate 20 MAGA types and then being surprised to find a Nazi among them might be the dumbest statement to come out of this. Especially if you ever watched any of these dogshit videos.
July 23Jul 23 A Nazi, sure, but it was all of them. They specifically picked 20 outright Nazi influencers and lied about it.

July 24Jul 24 Expecting young people to recognize a guy who was a great pitcher, but only flashed for a relatively small window in a sport that is dying off faster than the Silent Generation, is a bit much. It's not like he's a legend of the game. Maybe if they only asked young baseball players in the Bay Area they'd get some more recognition, but I doubt it.

July 30Jul 30 Hard to imagine how much evil there is in this world. Jfc. If I can criticize Mehdi, he does interrupt a lot
August 2Aug 2 Author and the tim lincecum thing is one example. try talking to a millennial about anything that happened in the 20th century. they know nothing about it. and they’re proud of it. they take “ok boomer” energy to steroid levels when it comes to placing any import on anything that came before them. they believe that they are the most enlightened people to ever exist, and therefore they have no reason to pay any attention to anyone or anything that came before them.
August 2Aug 2 Author need more media like this, calling out jubilee for what it is: making money off of giving fascists and nazis a platform: the second half of the. ideo in particular talks about this jubilee craze and how harmful it is. Edited August 2Aug 2 by Derka
