April 2Apr 2 Oh man, when I saw this in my feed, I was thinking April fools. That’s too bad, so many great roles to remember him by.
April 2Apr 2 He’s been almost dead for years it seems like. He really was great in almost everything. I should go rewatch The Saint.
April 2Apr 2 Popular Post Tom Cruise made sure Val had the opportunity to have Iceman be a lasting memory for us. So I do appreciate that: “In 2021 the film's producer Jerry Bruckheimer told People that it was a necessity for Cruise, sharing: "He said, 'We have to have Val, we have to have him back. We have to have him in the film.' And he was the driving force. We all wanted him, but Tom was really adamant that if he's going to make another Top Gun, Val had to be in it."

Same-probably my first exposure to the idea that you could be smart and fun and that not everything social had to revolve around small town sports, drinking beer at the bank parking lot and making out in the bed of a pick-up trucks in some pasture.

April 2Apr 2 Popular Post https://x.com/JenniferTilly/status/1907307175413993867?t=L9zRI-zlteJZ20Du__7wyw&s=19 A long time ago, I was auditioning for the movie “The Doors” It was kind of a cattle call. They paired together potential Jims with potential Pamela‘s. And they were running behind so we were spilling out of the casting office, sitting on the porch, the lawn, and the driveway. All of a sudden, a sixties convertible came screeching up, blaring Doors Music at top volume. And a guy jumped out and strode inside: He had wild hair and he was barefoot, shirtless, and wearing nothing but a pair of tight leather pants. We all looked at each other like… Who is this guy? We were more than a little shook by the sheer audacity of his entrance. Well of course it was Val Kilmer and from that minute on, nobody else stood a chance. Rip King.

I sure as hell didn't expect to get hit in my feels during the fucking Top Gun sequel. The guy delivered in everything he was in. RIP Iceman.
April 2Apr 2 i just started rewatching Entourage with my wife, who has never seen it. just last week, we watched the episode where Val Kilmer was a sherpa who was the only dude in LA that had weed. helped Vince land the lead in Queens Boulevard. good to see Kevin Dillon and Val reunited from The Doors. I discovered Top Secret before Airplane and thought it was the most hilarious movie ever written. I'll probably watch that with my boys this weekend. As others have said, tons of great roles including many deserving of industry awards. The Saint. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Fucking Tombstone...suddenly need to re-watch a bunch of films. And just really fucking cool -- and a little eerie -- that he was in Top Gun 2 and given a funeral and memorial in that - I assume his final on screen performance.

April 2Apr 2 I loved him in The Saint. I know it’s not one of his highest rated movies but I enjoyed it. And he was perfect as Jim Morrison.
April 2Apr 2 In addition to all these silly little movies, he was, of course, in one of the greatest movies ever made.

April 2Apr 2 Hope you are straightening some rug where ever you are Nick Rivers. Like many others, I loved this guy in everything. One of my generations 'G.O.A.Ts'. 65 is way too young in my book. RIP Val Kilmer. You will be missed.
April 2Apr 2 Also, Touché Val. This is pretty great. https://x.com/thecinesthetic/status/1907299890322887014?s=46&t=wR1WsslZNubrCBLx8_7YLQ

Thought his performance in Wonderland was stellar and went unappreciated by the Academy Award system.
April 2Apr 2 Lots of great movies. The scene between Ice and Mav in Top Gun Maverick, although short, was fucking nails. This is a nice moment. Let's not ruin it. RIP Val.

April 2Apr 2 Just another +1 for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Downey Jr, naked Michelle Monaghan, written by Shane Black and of course a great character turn from Val. RIP Gay Perry

Just pointing out that Rami won Best Actor while Val was ignored. I wonder why? Thought the band sold out just so they could make more money which is kinda pathetic considering they were already multimillionaires.

April 3Apr 3 The Saint is on Paramount+. Just fired it up. Will work my way through his catalogue this month.

I know Tom Cruise get's shit on for his fake religion and craziness...but he always gets my money cause his films are amazing and you can tell he really loves to make movies and most the actors he's working with. He'll he still keeps employing Ving Rhames in every single MI movie when they could have obviously moved on by now. I LOVE that he basically rail roaded Val into this movie. Another very underrated performance. But My fave is Willow...that's the one that made him amazing to me. Heat was a killer one as well... But Doc Holliday was transcendent. We still talk about it today. 30+ years later.
