It's the same brilliance that made Leslie Nielsen such a great choice: Take a guy who almost always did serious roles, and have him act like he doesn't know he's in a comedy.
April 3Apr 3 Author it looks like police squad is only streaming on daily motion -> if you've never seen the shows, they're well worth the time.

Yeah, I remember catching these first the first time in the 90s on Comedy Central or some other cable channel. This still cracks me up:

April 3Apr 3 Akiva Schaffer of Lonely Island (SNL shorts,Hot Rod, Popstar) directing makes me hopeful it will be solid. Been a fan of their comedic stylings for a long ass time now.
April 3Apr 3 Great shot of all the cops crying in front of pictures of their dead dads. Not that it matters in the least for this, but is Drebin Jr. supposed to be Priscilla Presley's son? They're probably about the same age.

The preview give me confidence it will be more Ted 1/Ted TV series and less Ted 2. I've always appreciated when Seth McFarlane makes fun of himself.

It's similar to him kind of toiling around as a serious actor then doing Taken and changing into an Action Star, while kind of redefining the genre again. Seeing him pop up in this is refreshing.

It's so weird watching an old flic like Prom Night and trying to find the jokes Nielsen wasn't making.

June 16Jun 16 It’s got a different feel to it. Like they’re playing off of Taken instead of something like hill street blues.
June 16Jun 16 It’s got a different feel to it. Like they’re playing off of Taken instead of something like hill street blues. Makes sense. The kinds of cop shows the originals were parodying don’t really exist anymore.
June 16Jun 16 That looks great, perfect mix of the absurdity of the original, with the Liam Niesen badass twist.
June 16Jun 16 When I was a little kid the similarity of the names "Liam Neeson" and "Leslie Neilson" always fucked with me. That reason alone made me happy that Neeson was cast as Drebin Jr.

June 17Jun 17 Kids crying in front of thier dads pictures then showing oj got me. Plus the whole scene with Pam and "taking the seat" Also if Liam would really pay respects to Leslie neilsen he would get a fart gag and take it on all media junkets.

I laughed at Drebin shooting himself into a bathroom. Same. This looks like a mix of classic Naked Gun and like other parodies. The "Take a seat" gag is something you'd see in Airplane or the old Naked Guns.
