"If you're worried about food tariffs".....how about you show up at your Congressman's fucking house and fucking yell at and berate him non-stop until he does his fucking job?

Fuck this "here's how to cope with an authoritarian takeover" shit.  How about "fuck that shit" as a response?

We’d been putting it off and probably would have waited longer, but we bought a new car a few weeks ago before any stupid shit had happened yet. At 1.99% APR, it felt like a great bet. Who knows what inflation will do over the next 4 years but prices are about to explode on commodities and we’ll know the full effect in about a year. Fucking 🤡

The only way to save money fishing is by going to your local pond and perch jerkin'.  Any other form of fishing isn't saving money.

Damn, I should’ve done this.

Yeah, but my Wi-Fi still works, soooo...I'm good, I'm just gonna chill.

It may not be too late. It could take a few weeks for tariffs to impact auto prices.

Streaming services is where I'd like to tighten the belt. My first target was Netflix but I received a lot of push back from my kid who apparently only likes Netflix and Disney+ and suggested I drop Hulu/ESPN+ which I use for live sports.

I rarely watch Netflix and figured it was a good service to drop but apparently it's one of the most popular streaming services with Gen-Z.

Bought a new Japanese vehicle at end of Feb and then replaced my six-year-old MacBook late last week. I feel pretty good about both of those decisions.

I kept telling my wife we need to buy the new car before the tariffs and she didn't believe me. I bought it anyways in January and look like a genius. She doesn't acknowledge it though, but I know.

Next up, go acquire your nubile young Swedish au pair, before tariffs drive her price up as well!

Any thoughts/experiences moving from traditional wireless plans to one of the prepaid plans?

I’m not a heavy data user, 10-15gb/month.   Rarely do hotspot, but may need it when I take my travel trailer out.   Looking at Mint, Total Wireless and US mobile.

Curious if anyone here has done this?  I can lop off $60-70/month on a single line.

Why wouldn't you?

My wife is on T-Mobile and pays $50/mo.  I just got my daughter and phone and will probably put her on the Mint 15GB plan for $20/mo.

FYI, Mint is on the T-Mobile network, so coverage is good, and actually more reliable than Verizon, which is what my company uses.

This is another place I could cut, I am currently paying $300+ for AT&T.

I would need unlimited data. I am curious about how good is their internet speed.

Unlimited data is $30/mo.

You need to get a phone compatible with T-mobile network first.

I'm on Mint unlimited for $40 a month all in. Works fine everywhere and their international add-on plan is easy to use when I travel abroad. I like the absence of a contract and using my unlocked phone with it.

Is the belt tightening cancelled now?

Haven't looked at the market since yesterday's close, eh?

Good time to be in precious metals. Right @RDCanecutter ?

I should have exchanged my silver to gold. The trajectory of gold is skyrocketing compared to silver.

"Make hoarding commodities because everything else has gone to shit great again."

My potato cellar is looking to be a pretty solid store of value, amigos.

I think of shiny metal like a spare tire on a car. It doesn't make the car go faster or farther, but once in a blue moon it's nice to have a spare.

Don't weep too much over having silver instead of gold. Who knows what could happen.

If you are happy with ATT service, Cricket is owned by ATT and uses their towers. My kids and I are on a plan that has unlimited everything plus 15 gigs of hotspot per month.

They don’t throttle your data on this particular plan. It costs $110, taxes included, per month for 3 lines. Of course, you have to bring your phones with you. We’ve been happy with it.

I looked at Mint (uses T-Mobile towers), Visible (uses Verizon towers) and Cricket (uses AT&T). We found a good promo rate for new customers on Mint and did a 3 month contract to try it out. So far, so good and wish we’d locked in the 12 months of unlimited data at $15+tax. It’s about to jump to $30 unless we get another promo to renew. I might give Visible a try and come back to Mint later as a “new” customer.

Man, cutting back on eating out really can make a big impact.  When we do eat out, right now it's along the lines of Dirty's and Tacodeli
