October 27Oct 27 We might get our first freeze Wednesday. low of 32 on TUE and 29 WED. From Halloween to Easter...that's when the freezin generally happens round here...give or take.

October 27Oct 27 Blastfurnace gonna make a final push at lunchtime tomorrow before retreating back to Hell to begin plotting next year's reign of terror. Definitely some "warm" days ahead next week after this front passes, but looks like we're all but done with evenings that don't get below 70. I can tolerate a November day that hits the low 80's a lot easier when it drops to the low 60's after sunset and the AC can finally catch a breather. Edited October 27Oct 27 by Storm the Field
October 27Oct 27 Sigh. The storms Friday-Saturday did a number on our A/C. Temps were tolerable through last night, so we made do until we could get a tech out today. Turns out, all kinds of wiring is shot, and it will take a couple of days. And today has gotten pretty warm, so we'll probably sleep downstairs where we have working A/C. And who knows how much the fucking repair will be. So, summer with one last "fuck you" before it packs things up, I guess.

My high school senior was sad when I told her I was spending her entire first year of college money on A/C.

Thankfully, the units are fine. But our 40 year old wiring is not. Because it's always something.
October 28Oct 28 About 2pm this afternoon is the warmest it will be, by at least 7 degrees, at any point in the next 7 days. Edited October 28Oct 28 by Storm the Field
October 29Oct 29 We will probably hit 40 tomorrow morning - daytime temps are finally helping my (I can't believe I kept them alive through the summer) tomatoes set fruit.

We're at 39F right now but are under a Freeze Watch for tomorrow morning with a forecast low of 32F, according to the NWS. I think we're done here and can move on to the Winter Weather thread.
October 29Oct 29 Feels incredible temp-wise, but damn is it windy today. Got literally pushed forward several steps by a ~40 mph gust walking outside of my office to go grab lunch earlier. Really looking forward to tomorrow and Friday, when it's both cool AND calm. Planning to light up the fire pit and enjoy a couple heavier beers after work tomorrow evening. October 29Oct 29 Sigh. Glad the temps will be nice, because our AC won't be getting fixed till next Wednesday. Had our electrician come out for a full system check. Yep, we got hit by lightning on Friday night. A glancing blow, all things considered -- it took out our low-voltage stuff (one AC unit, our alarm, and tripped but didn't fry our internet). Fortunately, we replaced our main fuse box a coupla years ago, and that had a surge protector that saved everything else. Our heat still works, so we'll be okay on the chilliest nights. And otherwise, we're gonna live like pioneers with no AC.

Wednesday!
November 5Nov 5 2 unseasonably warm days ahead this weekend before a fairly robust cold front blows through Sunday. High 80's, possibly even hitting 90 on Friday and Saturday.
November 6Nov 6 Fucking hell. They came out today and finally replaced the fried wiring from our AC unit (fried by a lightning strike when the storms came through almost two weeks ago). Didn’t fix things. It’s either the thermostat or the main board in the unit…they think. Gonna try a new thermostat tomorrow. If that doesn’t work, we’ll either have to order a new board…or just replace the whole fucking unit. And meanwhile, it’s supposed to hit the 90s. We’ve been fine for the past 10 days with comfortable temps, but seems that time’s up. Fuck off, blast furnace.

November 13Nov 13 Reviving this thread for another week or so as we're likely to tie or set record highs the next 6 days. A solid 12-15 degrees above average for the third week of November. Edited November 13Nov 13 by Storm the Field
