Yup, but 8/8 is the date when the average high starts to drop which is always something to look forward to, but right now I'm not bothered by summer. We'll see if I feel that way on 8/30.

August 1Aug 1 The hot, dry days touching 100 only stuck around SETX through Wednesday. Back to mid-90's and high humidity for the foreseeable future. Still a good 40 days away from when I start scouring the GFS models for any hint of the Fall's first cool front. Only noticeable difference over the next few weeks will likely be the days getting a little bit shorter. Currently losing a little about 90 seconds of sunlight each day. 2 Fridays from now will be the last sunset of the year later than 8 p.m. in the eastern portion of TX.
August 1Aug 1 I had a guy working the HEB Deli bitching about the heat yesterday. Exactly how long have you lived here would you say?

August 3Aug 3 Man, I'm getting to the point of the Summer where I'll be happy just to see a day on the forecast where the low is even 2 degrees less than the day before. Every single day in the current 14-day outlook for Houston is a high between 92-96, high humidity, and a low of 78 or 79. Groundhog Day weather, where it's just the same day over and over and over. Really looking forward to my upcoming trip to Colorado the week after next. That first evening in town at sunset and it's in the 50's after flying out from a heat index over 100 is one of life's great pleasures. Edited August 3Aug 3 by Storm the Field
August 4Aug 4 After my workouts I like to take a 15 minute walk around the neighborhood to kind of stretch out and decompress. This itme of year I'm usually sweating as much or more after my walk as when I was working out but not yesterday. Temp in the low 80's, cloudy and I actually cooled off instead of staying hot as hell.
August 4Aug 4 We're at 5+ years now since returning to Austin from Houston. If there's one thing I've noticed is that the shade matters so much here and at times can be relatively tolerable even when it feels like the depths of hades in the sun. The humidity difference matters. Plus this morning it was down to 71 in the morning - felt reasonable. I am not complaining about this summer. Reminder of Mabry in 2023...

Yeah, I tend to keep my lawn longish in the summer so that the blades shade the roots. I don't think I can do that anymore. On a side note, just checking... it is 11:25 AM on August 4th and this is the closest weather station? Amazing.

August 4Aug 4 Got all my doors open, it is quite nice outside. Of course it means we all melt on Halloween, but I can take it.
August 4Aug 4 Rain and clouds keeping it well below 90 in H-town today, but we're in for a long stretch of the suck. High pressure heat dome looking likely to settle in over the state for the next 10-15 days.

August 5Aug 5 Went for a walk it was 78 degrees. Almost passed out. Any outdoor cardio needs to be 70 and below

When I moved to Austin in June before starting college I had no idea it could be nice in the evening. And no mosquitoes. It was glorious. I always wanted to slap people bitching about the summer in Austin. Of course I’ve been living in Houston almost 20 years now.

Wife and mine are friends along with a bunch of others, she obviously freaked out, called an ambulance. My wife called me, I rushed over there. He's fine. They cooled him down, stuck an IV in his arm. I'm sure he loved the subsequent bill, but he's ok. If you're not used to this time of the year, it can be a kick in the dick. August 6Aug 6 It is officially sunrise walking/hiking time. Nothing but high 90s, high humidity, 100+ heat indexes for the foreseeable future.
August 6Aug 6 We staved off the full force of the blast furnace until August. That's a win compared to most years. I think I'll be able to handle 2.5 months of this shit compared to the usual five months.
August 6Aug 6 Yeah we've hit blastfurnace mode - now the question is how long into September does it go?
