September 9Sep 9 A big ridge of high pressure will soon settle in over Texas. Every day from tomorrow through next Sunday will basically be a repeat of the day before. Low to mid 90's, near-zero chance of rain. Edited September 9Sep 9 by Storm the Field
September 15Sep 15 Had to step outside for a second before going to bed last night. 81 degrees with a feels like of 87 at 11 pm. This shit getting tedious. Hope everyone enjoyed that nice 60-hour stretch from last Sunday morning until Tuesday night. Looks like it'll be a while 'til we get another dose.

How'd you make it through that 40 day stretch we had not long ago?

September 15Sep 15 Even though the highs are back up to 95 or so and will continue the next few days, humidity is lower than normal in dallas and it only gets to 94-95 for about 3 hours each day. Not a blistering day at all. I've started to think about what kind of summer this would have been without global warming. Even with it, this summer has been absolutely incredible by any standard

Yeah it’s pretty great in the shade in the morning or evening even with the humidity in Houston. I miss the low humidity I got for the 5 years I was in Austin. I remember my first night there in early August hanging out on my balcony thinking holy shit this is nice and there are no mosquitos

Like, August is terrible and I expect it to be terrible. September is where other parts of the country start yapping about fall and pumpkin spiced crap and we melt.

I've developed major envy for parts of the country that have distinct, defined seasons. I'm not even just talking about up north or in the mountain states. It starts getting pretty nice this time of year in places like Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville.....etc. Pretty much anywhere north of Dallas.

September 16Sep 16 I moved to Texas to get away from 4 distinct seasons. I despise cold weather. I'll take the blast furnace for a few months because the rest of the year is relatively awesome.
September 16Sep 16 4 seasons is one of the best parts of the weather for Amarillo. I missed it when we lived in Houston, and I have loved it since we returned. and the elevation eradicates that fucking humidity too. The Spring and Fall are generally awesome. Summer this year in particular was borderline spectacular with 3 days( IIRC) over 100. Winters have been mild the past few years, save for the Arcticamageddon a few years ago, but that hit everyone. September 16Sep 16 Damn, just looked at Amarillo forecast and I'm jealous. Highs in mid 80's, lows in high 50's coming up Sat-Tue
September 16Sep 16 Definitely a "mild" summer, but I'm ready to be able to walk around after 10 AM without sweating my ass off. A few days in Marfa/Fort Davis in a couple weeks looks like it will be pretty comfortable, at least.
September 16Sep 16 Going to Vancouver BC, Jackson, and Pittsburgh the next three weekends. Looking forward to places where Fall means something.
September 16Sep 16 Not minding the recent couple of weeks but I’m still looking forward to this week’s trip to West Point. High 70’s / lows in the mid 50’s.

September 19Sep 19 Looks like ~6 more days of Extended Summer ahead before hopefully transitioning to somewhat closer to seasonal temps. Gonna be warm and muggy until then, especially to start next week. Outside chance that Monday (ironically the first day of "Autumn") we'll see our highest high and highest low of the rest of the year. Forecast of 98/76 in Austin, 93/78 in Houston. Edited September 19Sep 19 by Storm the Field
September 21Sep 21 2 more unseasonably hot, muggy days ahead, but decent rain chances Wednesday as a weak front moves southward. Should actually start to feel like late September once some drier air settles in late Wednesday. The stretch from Thursday-Sunday is looking good.

September 22Sep 22 Happy first day of Autumn. To mark the occasion, we'll be a featuring a high of 98 in Austin and 70% humidity in Houston!

September 22Sep 22 Autumnal equinox just occurred about 10 minutes ago. It's officially Fall. Meanwhile, in TX:

September 22Sep 22 It's only an "indoor day" for highs under 20 F? And 95 F can be OK, depending on humidity. Map is biased against Southern states. Like to see a version where highs under, say, 32 F are indoor days, which is a more realistic threshold IMHO. An "average" and correct-thinking person would consider 20 F considerably more unpleasant and extreme than 95 F.

If it's below freezing, I ain't going outside unless I have to.
September 22Sep 22 That needs to be an interactive map where the user inputs their own criteria. 20 F sure ain't an "outdoor day" for me.
September 23Sep 23 40-60 indoor days in Chicago. Lulz. All of January and February will get you to that total.

After ten years in South Bend, my brother cannot tolerate heat, but a sub freezing days can still be outdoor weather.
September 23Sep 23 When we first moved to Lake Chuck from West Texas, I was helping a couple of co-workers load a truck one morning in July. We went inside to grab a cold water and I was drenched. I was asking them how long they had been with the company and one said, "37 years." My follow up was, "How long will it take me to get used to this shit?" "More than 37 years..." It was funny as hell, but he was absolutely right! Edited September 23Sep 23 by Iceman

September 23Sep 23 Today looks to feature the highest low temperature by a good 8-9 degrees for the next 2 weeks. It's barely going to get below 80 in Houston, even with storms forecast for later this afternoon. We're getting close to the finish line folks! More "this ain't so bad" days ahead, fewer "this shit sucks" ones.

They also think the high cutoff temp should be 85F.
September 23Sep 23 It doesn't take long to get unacclimated to the humidity. I spent 4 days in West Point last week where the humidity was very low and temps were pleasant. Before landing at IAH, the pilot comes over the PA and says the temperature at 2:30pm was around 90 degrees. That sounded fine. Got out of the airport and holy hell that may have been the worst feeling of this entire Blast Furnace cycle. I'm just now starting to get back into the swing of swamp ass.

My wife is from NY and we were visiting the falls around Ithaca a couple years ago. Went to hike a trail and there was a heat advisory. It was under 85. I finally got to make fun of her after all the years of “Texans can’t handle the cold” comments.
