I think late September makes me more ragey about the heat than the higher temperatures in July and August. At this point, I am just over it and watching other parts of the country drink their pumpkin spice lattes makes it worse.

I've checked the 10 day about 3 times today and it's just gotten worse each time. We're fucked. It's never gonna cool down.

It's 55 today

Best weather in the country imo.  True four seasons but relatively comfortable

Blastfurnace has about 16 hours of gas left in it. Heat index pushing 100 at 11 am tomorrow right before the front starts rolling through and dragging Summer out kicking and screaming. It should really start feeling much improved over the course of Thursday as drier air settles in.

not getting too excited, seen many years in the past where the furnace comes back with a vengeance near Halloween and it’s 90 degrees and sweating balls while trick or treating

With the crazy humidity and a dewpoint only a few degrees below the actual temperature, we set a new record for the highest low ever recorded at the IAH weather station. Only got down to 80 early this morning, breaking the old record by 2 degrees.

The front blew through here last night, bringing storms and about an inch of rain. It's an absolutely lovely 67°F at the moment with sunny skies and a cool breeze.

52 degrees on the Golden Spread this morning.

LOVE these days!!!  It ain't the " The Frost...sometimes it makes the blade stick" kind of morning we get in November/ December, but we'll take it!

Dammit, why can’t I place that quote?  Gladiator?

You got it, but the time for honoring yourself will soon be at an end.

I had to put on a jacket whilst driving the convertible top-down this morning.  Might be time to fire up the 2025/2026 Winter Icepocalypse Deep Freeze Thread.

^^^ Just wait til tomorrow. No jacket necessary for the next 10 days.

Huh? Overnight lows in the 60s for the entire 14-day outlook?  That's definitely convertible morning jacket weather.

Not gonna lie, the high of 87 today was just gloriously nice and lacking typical New Orleans humidity.

Morning walks with the mutt in the low 70s is gloriouser-er.    But I’ve had to water the lawn to keep it from dying too early, as we’ve had about a half inch of rain in almost a month.   I’ll take it!

Gonna be stuck in this "warmer than it should be but not awful" pattern for a while. Nary a hint of the next cooling front until late next week at the earliest. Highs will continue to run about 6-7 degrees above average until then.

I'm to the point I don't even think about it possibly cooling off until second week of October at the absolute earliest.  But if the mornings stay nice like the last three days, I don't really give a shit.  I'm over it by now.

High of 90-93, low of 71-74 every single day for the next 10 days. Next Saturday might, just barely, be the next day where the high drops to 89 or less.

Looks like the trade-off for a pretty mild Summer was that it's just gonna stretch into November.

Yep, would much prefer this high parked over us right now instead of June/jul/august

I’ll take that trade every summer from here on out. Fuck that shit we had in 2022 and 2023.

shhhhhhh... You are never getting rain.

And yes, my front yard looks like mars with the cracks in it. Heat? No prob. Lack of rain. Fuck that.

My front yard is so completely shaded that I haven't gotten any grass to grow in it in 3 years. This winter I'm getting the trees super trimmed and am gonna put some real effort in getting some shade grass to grow. If it doesn't happen again, we're going xeriscape and not looking back.

Luckily my backyard has stayed lush throughout. I only water it once a week but you can tell the previous owner put some serious work into it because it's stayed nice in the 4 years we've lived here. I will continue to work to keep it nice since my kids still play in it and our backyard is a pretty good size compared to the rest of the yards in the suburban hell of this side of NB.

No man, that is for good weed. Hemp is for chicken feed. You grow the heavy shit in closets. Amateur move Sir. Let me guess. You lived in Jester.

Nope I lived in Dobie. Grew the weed in my little 2 bedroom house in Hyde Park.

I’ve been ouside all day.  Finished mowing and about to start a chicken run.  No it’s not NY fall but it feels great with the breeze.
