April 15Apr 15 Perhaps the fact it’s been what, six months since there’s been a post in thread speaks volumes. I wonder if Don Buchwald was the one keeping him on the rails, because now it’s just fucking guitar talk, Chris Wilding impressions and the same insecurities repeated over and over. I’m struggling to get thru last week’s Maroon 5 two-plus hour interview (really?) because it’s a lot of technical guitar shit and more importantly, I couldn’t give less than one fuck about Maroon 5 and Adam Levine. Someone needs to have the balls to say the emperor has no clothes, but no one dare speak the truth. The only one who may seem willing to fight back against the stasis is Memet, as unbelievable as that sounds. I’m sure Fred knows it’s a bad product, but at almost 70, he’s not going to jeopardize his final years. Meanwhile, more Robin being woefully wrong on just about everything, Dr. Now impressions and bad guitar strumming. Oh, he seems to be on vacation again, but complaining about this after bitching about the content is akin to the restaurant patron criticizing the food… and the small portions.

Oh, he seems to be on vacation again, but complaining about this after bitching about the content is akin to the restaurant patron criticizing the food… and the small portions. It was Ralph that kept him relevant. He's just a miserable old fuck with a crazy cat lady wife that is too scared to stop working and enjoy his final years. I would feel more pity if he wasn't obscenely rich and super validated. Sternthology and History get the majority of my listening time now anyway. The current show is two old biddies surrounded by low tier talent (excluding my Fred). He's a 20th century radio guy in a 21st century podcast world and has nothing fresh or interesting to offer. It's over, Johnny.
April 16Apr 16 I stopped listening about 6-8 months ago and don't even need the channels anymore. It was a good ride.
April 16Apr 16 Shit, one of the few recent bright spots, Wink Martindale, has died. Wikipedia claims lymphoma was the cause, but at 91, a lot of things are conspiring against you. He was still sounding great. I guess someone else will have to help clear out the world’s most expensive storage shed moving forward. https://deadline.com/2025/04/wink-martindale-dead-1236369288/comment-page-2/#comments
April 16Apr 16 I've recently logged back into Stern after a year absence. Yeah, it's not quite the same. Enjoyed the Bill Murray interview......but I find myself listening to old clips on Youtube of the Artie years. Peak.
April 23Apr 23 It was painful yesterday to hear him try and recreate a meeting they had where some people were doing their impersonations and he thought it was funny. (Same impressions they did last week and the week before that.). And that was the first segment of the show.
April 26Apr 26 Is Artie completely done with stand-up? I'd go and see him but he hasn't toured in several years. Is his career over?

I saw a video with somebody (don't remember who) that said when Artie was doing side-gigs in his Stern days, random people would hand him drugs nonstop.
May 10May 10 I’m guessing he hires writers and afterwards asks them if they can do any random impressions then beats us over the head with them non stop. Wilding can do Dr Now so we’re subjected to that every week? What bullshit! I’m getting to really dread the door knock. I’ll take a hiatus and then come back for nostalgias sake but it just isn’t the same. I really miss the old days when Howard hated and made fun of most celebrities. These days it’s Entertainment Tonight level pandering. And fuck all the guitar BS.
May 12May 12 The current state of the show shouldn't really be a surprise. It's a 71 year old agoraphobic shut-in talking to his 72 year old ignoramus friend about the good old days. The accompanying circus of sycophants certainly don't bring in any fresh thought. The fire burned low a long time ago. I would be shocked if anyone under 40 knows, or even cares, if he's still on the air. We're all just reminiscing now.
August 6Aug 6 He's on live this morning with Lars Ulrich talking about Ozzy. Says he's got a "big announcement". I had to step away but trying to get back to the car.

I'm not anti Semitic in the least but you understand your argument is now that a Jewish guy from New York doesn't want more money or to be miserable, right?

Yeah I get it. I just think he's tired of working. Just my opinion, it's okay to disagree with it.
August 6Aug 6 If you want to believe Roger Friedman he says it's bogus. He's been fired by just about every publication in the business but being a longtime NYC guy I wouldn't be shocked if he has a direct line to Baba Booey. https://www.showbiz411.com/2025/08/06/howard-stern-leaving-sirius-xm-is-bs-says-insider-but-press-lemmings-were-quick-to-announce-king-of-all-medias-firing#google_vignette
August 6Aug 6 Howard's agent died. I assume Julia Buchwald is repping him these days. I'm sure that's a factor. 1 hour ago, Nole-4-Life said: Yeah I get it. I just think he's tired of working. Just my opinion, it's okay to disagree with it. he doesn't work all that much.

August 6Aug 6 for those that didn't hear; the Metallica channel will be available on radios without a valid subscription for a while.
September 8Sep 8 I don’t think it’s a prank…could be Stern is gone, Andy Cohen has taken over Channel 100.. Andy 100. Ok, it was a prank! Howard with a feint. We’ll see what he has to say… (Variety ran with it). Edited September 8Sep 8 by Vito Andolini
December 9Dec 9 So i didn't listen for a 6-9 month gap or so. Just picked back up about a month ago. Someone tell me what happened with High Pitch since he is no longer high pitched.

I had no appetite,” Erik said of his dramatic weight loss. “I put my underwear and sweatpants on, and they fucking fall down on the street.” While Howard and co-host Robin Quivers were impressed with High Pitch’s new look, they were shocked to hear his new lower-pitched voice. “I can’t help it,” the multi-pitched Wack Packer said. “We gotta change his name,” Howard laughed. “You can’t be High Pitch Erik anymore … You ready for your new nickname? I got it: Erik.”
December 9Dec 9 That clip doesn't even really sound how he does now either. Now he sounds even more "normal"
December 16Dec 16 Announced a new 3 year deal to stay on the air. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/howard-stern-new-deal-siriusxm-1236451812/
