May 30May 30 Who will we be signing or bringing up that will be better than them? I’m all for improving the team.
May 30May 30 Oh to have a guy like McKinnon, McDavid, or someone like Brayden Point who can just blast through a defense and control the puck.
May 30May 30 30 minutes ago, Hate said: Marchment is worthless or at least has been this series. Temu Jamie Benn
May 30May 30 Why can’t we cause those deflections in the offensive zone instead of just beating our own goalies?
May 30May 30 terrible lindell game sadlyThat’s just atrocious luck whatever... FLA gonna beat these guys in 5I don’t think so. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Edmonton win the Cup.

I bet FLA puts some wood to McDavid also.

I just have a feeling it’s their turn. I expect a good series.
May 30May 30 Wyatt Johnston finishes at -16 in the playoffs, which I think is the worst in the history of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
May 30May 30 fuck these fucking losers. clean house and get some people that have a ballsack during the playoffs

May 30May 30 need to find some younger guys with speed.... benn, seguin, duchene, robo probably too many slow forwards... maybe a ceci replacement? not even sure where to go

May 30May 30 fire Jim Nill when the clock strikes 0:00Terrible take. Just awful. You should be ashamed.
May 30May 30 Good season. But having good seasons isn’t the issue. Still waiting on a great season to happen again. and I do think Florida fucks them up again. stars somehow are built to be big and slow but not physical. Need speed or heaviness- Dallas has enough of neither. also Jake has stolen games here and there but he hasn’t stolen a series. He may not have that top gear that the very best have. May 30May 30 Yeah, don't feed the trolls. Was just telling the wife that Florida won't respect McDavid. They make their money by assaulting every team they play, and Edmonton will be no different. Of the 5 best teams in the NHL, 4 of them are in the West. One of them is Florida. If you want the Cup, you have to beat them.
May 30May 30 Thar means a lot coming from you One of the best front offices in the nhl voted on by peers. But yea, fire Jim and clean house.
May 30May 30 Nill is fine. DeBoer is fine, though, I don’t understand why you scratch Dadonov. Benn and Seguin need to go. Tyler showed something in the playoffs. Jamie did not. Robo was our only player this series and the posts calling him out are laughable. Robo was hot garbage most of the playoffs. He needs space to score. The trouble is that space disappears in the playoffs unless you create it yourself. He doesn’t have that type of game.He played well tonight but the first goal was a terrible turnover and he wound up in the slot with no one around him. I’d trade him in a heartbeat if we could get a good return. Duchene produces in the regular season. Benn hasn’t really done anything since ‘22 and has never been a top flight player. Duchene doesn’t belong in that category. Benn was a great player at one time. He won the scoring title one season. He’s got nothing left at this point, though. He was simply invisible against the Oilers because he can’t keep up with their best athletes.
May 30May 30 Edmonton is better and without some new blood, it doesn’t matter who’s in goal. But I don’t mind the in-game move and don’t mind the comments. Jake wasn’t good enough, and if he can’t take that criticism, fuck him. He’s not that good. Agree with this. I keep waiting for Otter to become that shut-down goalie and he just can’t get there. Another year where he gets outplayed by somebody he should be better than — Jordan Binnington/Blues, Adin Hill/Knights, Skinner/Oilers x 2 and so on.The best playoff series I think he ever played was against the Flames in the bubble. He hasn’t gotten back to that level since.
May 30May 30 5 minutes ago, Rex Kramer said: Agree with this. This team needs to be built around the Fins and Harley. Everyone else is expendable even if it means we get worse. But, Robo is a part of that. Wonder why Mikko disappeared? Because like Robo he can be taken out of a game. This team needs Roope to be better. A more prolific scorer and creator for Mikko and Robo. Or, we need to get worse and go find guys like him. Right now, he’s a poor man’s McDavid/McKinnon, and our best player doesn’t approach Draisatyl/Nugent-Hopkins/Makar. I'm a firm believer that the skating 11/7 did a number on Rantanen. Performances before and after are distinct and looked markedly slower. about 18 minutes a game up to 25-26 in his frame and intensity of playoff hockey
May 30May 30 Agree with this. This team needs to be built around the Fins and Harley. Everyone else is expendable even if it means we get worse. But, Robo is a part of that. Those guys don’t exactly grow on trees.Jury is out on Rantanen for me. I want to see him get a full year with this team. Roope is a nice player. He’s fast as hell but he’s hurt a lot. He should probably be the #2 center on a Cup winner. Again, I’m really, really disappointed in the egg laid by Wyatt this postseason. I hope we hear that he was battling something because that needs to be our guy.Our trouble is that we don’t get top five picks often. We got Miro at #3 and I can’t think of another top 10 pick in all the years we’ve had the team in Dallas. We aren’t going to get a shot at McDavid, Matthews, Bedard, etc.
May 30May 30 Robo was only reason we were in any of games 2-5. He was coming back from injury, and slow, but scored 4 of our last 5 goals. Benn has never had a season beyond 89 points and has only had 2 80-point seasons. And this is a guy that is rarely injured. He’s never been that good, and certainly has never been “great”. He’s been a 4th-line talent for much of the last 5 seasons. I disagree on Robo. But I haven’t looked at any of the advanced stats. It’s just my gut.At one time, Benn was a premiere power forward in the NHL. Those days are long gone.
May 30May 30 5 minutes ago, Rex Kramer said: Yeah, I know and agree with all of this. I’m just not sure coaching can overcome McDavid when he’s paired with Draisaitl and an RNH that played to his 1-1 paper this series. CMc and LD are the best 1-2 punch in hockey and it isn’t close. Edmonton was BAD for years and got those three guys with the 1, 3 and 1 overall picks. Hintz is a good, talented player but it doesn’t translate to enough points because he’s hurt a lot as you said, which affects his playoff performances. Mikko and Robo need him to be more consistent. Those are the 3 guys I wouldn’t want to lose offensively, and Miro and Harley defensively. I’d put everyone else on the block if speed is the return. Man, I forget that Nugent-Hopkins was a 1-1. I looked it up. We've had four top 10 picks since the Stars moved to Dallas in 1993: 1993: Todd Harvey (1-9) 1996: Ric Jackman (1-5) 2009: Scott Glennie (1-9) 2013: Val Nichushkin (1-10) 2017: Miro Heiskanen (1-3) I liked the mix of this year's team better than last year's. I think we're getting closer. This is why I want Edmonton to win the Cup. Get it out of the way. If the Oilers are still hunting for the elusive Cup next year, I fear more of the same is in store for us -- and the rest of the West. Just rip the band-aid off and let them get it. The hangover will be so bad for them, they might not even make the playoffs next season. (They will but humor me. Maybe they're a wild card that gets in -- and then nobody wants them in Round 1.) I know we can't bring everybody back but I didn't feel like there was a black hole on the blue-line this season like last year when Hakanpaa went down. I like Duchene quite a bit. I don't like him being our leading regular-season scorer and then scoring ZERO points in 18 playoff games during 5-on-5 play. That's practically impossible.
May 30May 30 14 minutes ago, Rex Kramer said: If you’re relying on any of our guys individually you’ll be disappointed. But Robo has 394 points in 374 regular season games played. Benn has never sniffed those numbers and was never a premier anything in the league. Robo, for all the bitching about his playoff disappearances, has 40 playoff points in 48 games. The reason he doesn’t have that 1 point average is largely because he was working himself back after injury and had 1 point in 6 Winnipeg games. Benn was an elite power forward up until about his age-28 or age-29 season, which IIRC is about when power forwards historically start their decline in the NHL. He was a top-10 overall point shares player in the NHL for three or four seasons there. He was an elite player. Was. Hasn't been for a number of years. After tonight, Robertson has 44 career points (18G, 26A) in 55 playoff games. Seven of his 18 goals and 11 of his 26 assists have come on the power play. That's 40% of his production coming on the power play. Compare that to 29.4% of his career regular season points coming on the power play. Your top scorer(s) need to be able to get it done on 5-on-5, with a man advantage -- whatever. I said it back during his first swim through the playoffs in 2021-22 when he had 41 regular season goals and got one in a first-round loss to the Flames (the aforementioned Otter series). I wondered if he could ever become a consistent postseason scorer. Three seasons later, we still don't really know.
May 30May 30 7 minutes ago, Rex Kramer said: About Duchene, he’s absolutely an embodiment of the team: a lot of good players. Depth is great. But only (multiple) great players can overcome a team like this and Florida. We need Wyatt to develop, and fast, and Roope to be more consistent. And I wouldn’t pay Duchene big money to stay, and would absolutely not pay Benn anything more than chicken feed at his next opportunity. Benn's contract is over soon enough. At that point, nobody will pay him very much. Same with Seguin. They'll either sign team-friendly deals to chase a Cup, go somewhere else or retire. Nill isn't stupid. He will not overpay for those guys. Duchene should be a #2 or #3 center. Great guy to have on the team but he cannot be your leading scorer, at least not the guy you depend on to get goals. I like what we did to get Rantanen. Elite players like that don't come available very often. And it just cost us Stankoven and a draft pick. Make that trade every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Wasn’t the Dallas front office called the best in the league by peers? That is high praise. It seems the problem the Stars have, besides the occasional flaky Otter game, is that the team fell into three problematic categories this year: 1 over the hill guys - Benn, Seguin, Duchene 2 not yet to prime guys - Harley, Johnston, Back, Etc 3. injured prime guys - Robertson, Miro, Roope, etc So did injuries do them in? Not enough time together with Mikko? Do they just need to let the young guys mature a bit and push out a few of the olds? Is DeBoer over performing with less talent, or underperforming with a lot of talent? Doesn’t seem like they need to tear it down, but need to figure out the right tweak, not the wrong one. I thought Mikko was it, because of the problems they had on offense before his arrival, but so far that hasn’t worked out that great. The Dallas offense at times seems plodding, and on defense they are often fighting off 2:1 and 3:2.
May 30May 30 I'm excited to see what will become of Lian Bischel as he gains the confidence to realize he belongs in the NHL. When he reduces or eliminates the timid part of his game, opponents will need to scheme around him. He adds a more forceful but still skilled piece to our defensive game. Having Miro miss so many games really allowed some D to develop!
May 30May 30 I think the Stars need to resist the urge to throw everything away in response to last night and this series. (I don't think they will. Nill is the best executive this team has had since Bob Gainey. DeBoer is the best coach we've had since Hitchcock.) Edmonton is a fantastic team -- and the Oilers played a great series. I was worried about them coming into the series and it played out just as I feared. This is a Stars team that's been in the final four three consecutive years. They are close. Extremely close. Benn is a UFA as his $9M annual contract ended last night. Seguin's $9.85M annual contract runs through the 26/27 season. Here's a look at current contract situation: https://www.spotrac.com/nhl/dallas-stars/overview Those Dumba/Lyubushkin contracts aren't great, buddy, and they run through next season.
May 30May 30 When they let EDM player slash Hintz foot and then let them slash it again when He returned. There was no retaliation I knew they were toast just no fight they were bullied and just took it.
