April 24Apr 24 Last night was the Dallas team I was used to seeing. They were contesting the puck way better, showed much more hustle, outshot them, and played much better defense in front of the net. They still gave up too many breakaway shots on goal, but Colorado is really fast, so I guess that’s expected to some extent. Great win. More importantly, great watch.
April 24Apr 24 The Avs are trying to use Nathan MacKinnon as a 90's era Michael Jordan. He gets the puck up high, and everyone else boxes out an opponent to let him drive and shoot or dish. This isn't a legal hockey play, but it's so pretty that no one calls it. A top notch penalty kill lets the Stars play like they do. Mason Marchment's game is the epitome of that. He plays to the edge of physical contact even though he's not big enough to be at all intimidating. He hacks at pucks, throws opponents around, and just generally tries to disrupt play. He breaks up the continuity a team like Colorado cherishes. Of course, the refs know he does this, so sometimes eyes are a little stricter on him. Not saying the double-minor was a bad call (I'm saying the goal scoring interference was blatant and inexcusably bad), but it's what you're going to get when a guy like Mush does the dirty work within the bounds of sportsmanship (see: Avery, Sean). I wish we were playing game 4 tonight. The Avs have gotta be mentally drained (playoff hockey is harder on your will than your body - and it's really hard on the body). The extra day of rest betwixt now and Saturday is to their advantage.

Marchment definitely is an abrasive player, one that your opponent just hates for myriad reasons. You mentioned some of the reasons why. He's not above embellishing an opponent's contact to try and draw a call. Razor was on with the Musers this morning and he said he thought the extra day of rest between Games 3 and 4 helped Colorado more than the Stars because it gave them a little more time to reset after two heart-breaking losses. A positive for us is that it gives Miro an extra day to try and get back in the lineup. I'll be at High Water Fest in Charleston watching Lord Huron as the puck is dropped for Game 4. I'll be monitoring our progress on my phone if I can get a signal. I trust this board to pull us through. Sure would be nice to bring a 3-1 lead back to Dallas!!!
April 24Apr 24 I don't disagree the Stars would prefer to keep the momentum, but extra day will also help Harley/Esa that have played a ton of minutes get some rest. I'm pretty sure Harley has had more TOI than any player on either team each of the 3 games. Granted, those 2 took 2 of the last 3 off specifically for this reason, but still, I'm guessing they welcome an extra recovery day after 3 tough games. Reminder Colorado had a ton more rest than we did to start the series (not only finishing Sunday while we had 2 more regular season games to play but also having cap/roster ability to rest more guys in any event down the stretch) so going up 2-1 in first 3 games even more impressive considering.
April 24Apr 24 i can't tell you how many times i've watched the slo-mo of the Benn redirect goal. it's fucking art. https://x.com/victoryplustv/status/1915259936520405401 Edited April 24Apr 24 by Jive Turkey

April 24Apr 24 Author first game of the series where the Deserve to Win O'meter points to the avs. so i guess the stars stole that one https://moneypuck.com/g.htm?id=2024030163

I figured it swung that way slightly so wasn't surprised. Avs played a really solid 2nd and most of the 3rd. Otter made some huge saves. Not to mention the Lindell save that really stole the game. I saw the still shot of that wide open net with Otter on the ground earlier today and can't believe Avs didn't score.

April 24Apr 24 I predict that you guys are going to develop a pretty substantial hatred of Zeev over the next decade.
April 25Apr 25 now for your regularly scheduled dose of the admiral bitches about stars getting fucked by the league: TODAY 250425 TNT @ 1800 caps habs TNT @ 2100 kings oilers TOMORROW 250426 TBS @ 1800 leafs senators TBS @ 2030 stars avalanche it's fucking amazing how the league, disney and warner KNOW IN ADVANCE that the game before the stars game regardless of network ALWAYS requires 17% less time to complete it's almost like they know they will lose viewers if they were truthful about the schedule for the game..... like, if you knew you would be up past midnight to watch the game, even without overtime, you might decide to just say "fuck it" i'll just watch the highlights in in the morning..... what about parents who try to keep their kids on a schedule? good fucking luck if your kid is a stars fan

April 27Apr 27 That drone view was worse than Ottinger giving up that soft fucking goal. Edited April 27Apr 27 by Firemans4Horn
April 27Apr 27 Marchment is playing some loser ass hockey the last two games. You cannot give up these shot ass cheap penalties.
April 27Apr 27 Not great. But Makar would make the Italian soccer team proud with that fucking embellishment.

Just a constant high ceiling low floor playing on the edge doing stupid shit or great shit. We had several great solid looks before that shorty completely shifted momentum. Let's grab one back this period. Fuck playing for game 5. Plenty of time to get back into this.
April 27Apr 27 Johnston and Benn just got absolutely blown by in the neutral zone. It‘s the playoffs guys.

April 27Apr 27 Can't put lipstick on that pig of a period. Playing like we are happy for a split. Not even remotely matching their intensity. It's one thing to lose a game but that was unacceptable.
April 27Apr 27 I think I counted 5 cross ice passes by the Avs in our defensive zone. That's pucks that made it all the way across the width of the rink without us getting in the way. Not giving up, but it'll take something truly stupid to get 3 unanswered in one period. Let's start with 1.
