June 18Jun 18 Florida was just on a different level than everyone. When I saw them play Stars live in '24 I thought they were the best team i saw that year. This year they are even better. Damn.
June 18Jun 18 Fans are letting Evander Kane have it for not making the handshake line: He was probably already at the casino. The NHL wants Connor to have the cup, but the hockey gods will make sure Kane never touches it. And nothing of value was lost. Will always and forever be a clown. The Spirit flight from Lauderdale to Vegas was leaving in an hour. Nobody is surprised or disappointed..he’s a gambling drunk degenerate..he deserves to be in edm So Florida wins the cup and doesn't have to shake hands with Evander Kane? Seems like a good day all round. Edited June 18Jun 18 by Iceman
June 18Jun 18 I can't remember the last time I saw someone ejected from the final game to say whether or not he was being a punkass bitch by not coming out for the handshake line afterword, but he's also not exactly a guy I'd give the benefit of the doubt to in that regard.
June 20Jun 20 Quote U.S. television ratings for the Stanley Cup Final rematch between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers declined from their first matchup a year ago. An average of 2.5 million viewers watched on TNT, with 2.8 million tuning in for the Panthers' series-clinching Game 6 victory. The overall number on cable is down from 4.17 million last year when the final was on over-the-air TV on ABC and was the lowest since Tampa Bay versus Montreal in 2021. The share of viewers increased 15% from TNT's first Cup Final in 2023, when Vegas defeated Florida. Social media engagements on NHL content were up 32% over the course of the playoffs. An average of 3.8 million viewers watched the final in Canada on Sportsnet, with Connor McDavid looking for his first championship. The 1.8 million on average for the playoffs, which included five out of the 16 teams involved being based in Canada, is a 6% increase from a year ago. Ratings for the Cup final were significantly lower than the 4 Nations Face-Off in February, the return of international competition featuring the NHL's best players. The final between the U.S. and Canada was watched by 9.3 million people in the U.S. and 10.7 million in Canada, after the six round-robin games averaged 4.6 million in North America.
June 24Jun 24 I went to most of the playoff games in 2014 (?) when the Texas Stars won it, and this does not feel like a minor league championship because these guys take it so seriously. Also, congrats to Canada on finally winning something. Edited June 24Jun 24 by Beau Vine
June 24Jun 24 yep, went to a few Checkers games back when they were the Canes affiliate (stupid that they're not still affiliated but that's a long story) and even comparing it to the MiLB level wouldn't be a good comparison. Even with Durham Bulls games you often got a sense with some of the guys that they were simply waiting for their callup, AHL games can be almost as big a war in the playoffs as in the show.

June 25Jun 25 6 hours ago, Beau Vine said: Wait, what? Massive clash of egos between Tom Dundon when he bought the Canes, and the Checkers owner who had a small stake with the Canes under the Karmanos ownership group. Not sure if there was a falling out between the two before the affiliation agreement expired and Khan was doing it as a "fuck you" or if Khan was simply trying to take Dundon for whatever he thought he could since the Checkers won the Calder Cup the prior season, but the terms he was apparently asking for were richer than any other independent team in the A. Dundon ended up calling his bluff and the Canes ended up affiliating with the Chicago Wolves as a result, whose owner comes with his own level of shit show.
