Win the Vezina and also get your team bounced in the 1st round.

Just like last year!

One thing I love about the Surl, whether we are Jets, Avs, or Stars fans, we all hate Vegas.

Great series between two absolute heavyweights. Sucks there had to be a loser. Wish the NHL would scrap divisions and just slot 1-8 like the “old” days.

It is possible to come back from 2 down in the third to take a game 7. In regulation even.

Crazy it could happen back to back nights after only happening three times previously in the history of the league.

Those slacking ass jets will need overtime though.

Is the Scheiffele injury expected to be awhile?

Also, how bad did Morrissey’s look?

Was watching with my son and as that cycle went on, I said to him “this could be it.” Three seconds later, the puck was in the back of the net.

Pretty good set of eight teams there.

Wife's gonna get annoyed that I'm not going to leave the house for the next two weeks, but she'll deal with it.

My Debbie downer moment for Dallas (and Winnipeg) is that I believe teams that have tough 6 or 7 game first rounds run out of gas by the conference finals, unless they can win in 5 in round 2.  At least Dallas gets 3 days between series this season.

Makes sense but I wonder if that proves out statistically.

I'm not much of a hockey fan, but I do keep an eye on the Blues.  That goal at 1.6 sec to send it to OT was gut-wrenching.

That covers everybody in the West. Stars and Jets both went 7 and Vegas and the Oilers went 6. Three Eastern teams only needed five to get out of the first round.
Fingers crossed the Finals this year isn't a Vegas vs Carolina or Florida.

I will be surprised if anybody other than Florida wins the East. I thought Vegas would win the West before the playoffs started. We shall see.

Edmonton better put up a fight.  If Vegas clears them in 5 while Stars/Jets slug it out they will have a real advantage against winner.

Is it really on the table that Edmonton might not put up a fight?

Round 2 Predictions. Who you got?

Florida in 6

Washington in 5

Vegas in 6

Dallas in 6

Edited by Longhorn_Fan68

As a Jets fan, I'm playing with house money at this point. Win or lose, I'm going to have fun with the Dallas series, Hellecuck be damned.

The last 2 stars/jets games were both 60 minute ass whippings.  Playoff hockey is different, and injuries may play a factor for both sides, but that does not give me the warm fuzzies.

Hmm. I think I go:

Florida in 5

Carolina in 7 (this is merely a hunch and thinking Washington isn't as good as the record indicates)

Vegas in 6

Dallas in 6

Dallas should get a couple of key contributors back after long layoffs. Sometimes, this isn't the immediate boon you'd like, and a playoff series doesn't allow for "get up to speed" time.

Winnipeg has a couple of key pieces in doubt. Otherwise, they're fairly similar teams.

Of course, who am I kidding? Hellebuyck will either be a cork or a sieve. That's your series.

Winnipeg 3-1 v Stars this season.  Outscored Dallas 13-5.  I want to be optimistic but I won't lie, I was pulling like hell for the Blues.

only one of those was PR (Post Rantanen) and the Stars were in a deep slide/energy saving mode/whatever the hell that was. Stars have the playoff experience and will only get deeper as players come back from injury. Losing Schiefele and Morrissey is a direct correlation to the Stars losing Miro and Robo. I'm betting Miro slots in immediately, Robo may be a few games out still. Remains to be seen if the corresponding Jets core players return or not. Either way, I don't think the season series means shit at this point. First time ever meeting in the playoffs too, so there isn't built in animosity like there would have been against the Blues. I'm feeling better about the Jets as an opponent than I was with he Avs, that's for sure. Game 1 will tell us a lot.

YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!

The coaching carousel just got more interesting:

Indeed. Especially since it was set up by poor decisions and execution. The Blues had chances to kill clock and get cleaner shots on the empty net, but panicked instead.

But honestly, the Jets outplayed us significantly over the last two periods. They deserved the win.

There’s always next year…

watching Leafs/ Panthers just because.  Leafs had an incredible 1stP.  The goal :33 into the game was a shot; the goal IMEDIATELY following the cats PP goal was fucking huge.  Not that juiced about either team, but that was entertaining.

Leafs aren't really going to blow this, are they?
