He got fat.  The nose and eyes are the same.  Mugshot pictures often make skin tone lighter that it actually is.

Having attended nearly every home game during that era, I think Dez was more physcally gifted and talented, although Blackmon was more productive. Dez is still the best athlete I've seen play in real life. Very sad to see Blackmon still struggling. What a damn waste.
