Mountainhead - From the Succession Folks, May 31, Max, Movie

Featured Replies

Four friends. $371 billion net worth. Zero culpability. Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, Cory Michael Smith, and Ramy Youssef star in a new HBO Original film from the creator of Succession. #Mountainhead premieres May 31 on Max.

There's talk that if it's successful, they may make a series out of it.  Who knows.

  • 1 month later...

not good.

(and I loved, loved, loved Succession)

Reminds me of the location from that retreat episode. Would be funny if this is actually set in the Succession universe.

The wife and I started watching this last night. Made it 35 minutes before we gave up and threw in the towel. Truly awful.

do they all freeze to death in the end??

Would have been better if they froze to death at the beginning.

Billionaires chopping it up. Slightly less interesting than your regular bowel movement

From the trailer, my gut read was, "That's a lot of fart smelling going on..."

I wouldn't say horrible, but certainly not good.

I made it to the end, which was a mistake.

It is hard to believe that people involved with Succession were also involved with this.

Can Hollywood stop casting Carrell in everything? He’s thinner, grayer, and has a cool beard, but he’s basically playing Michael Scott as Willy Wonka in Mountainhead.

No idea how anybody could watch that trailer and think the movie had potential to not entirely suck.

Hmmmm......  I enjoyed it?  I knew going in that they filmed it over 10 days in February, so it was what I expected.  And I am not sure it's that far off of how Thiel, Musk, Reid Hoffman, and David Sacks (clearly the models for each) talk to each other in real life.

It's probably very close to how they talk to each other in real life.

And after having watched this movie, I now know for certain I would never want to be present when those guys are talking to each other in real life.

Once I realized they were being portrayed as a bunch of dumbasses who wouldn’t be able to succeed at anything, it became more enjoyable. Bowl him in the middles!

Phases of mixed feelings. Went from  cringey, to boring, to almost quitting...then started to kinda enjoy it for the periodic chuckle. Schwartzman grew on me. I have a soft spot for Max Fisher.

It was worth it to make it to the line, "dude, did you room cuck yourself?"

This was us.  I don't even think we made it that far.

Turned it off after the writing of net worths on their chests..

Nothing about it looked appealing. There is soooo much crap on the streaming services it reminds me of eating at a buffet and I am not talking a good one like the Mother's Day affairs you try once with your wife when your kids are little.

I am talking Pancho's, CiCi's, Golden Corral level of crap that is poorly written, poorly acted, etc... simply to provide content to the services in the same manner ESPN shows axe throwing and dodge ball on ESPN 2 so they can make people pay for ESPN+ because that is where they put the content people really want to watch.

I remember being excited for my first pancho’s trip in college.  got high as gas and it still fucking sucked.

This could be used to describe much of today's streaming content and network tv is dominated by about 3-4 show runners churning out mass amounts of crap.

Well...it didn't make me like billionaires. Interesting concept that just wasn't well-executed.
