September 30, 20187 yr How many of his passes were actually vertical downfield in this game and not to the sidelines?
September 30, 20187 yr today was easily his worst game of the season. will need to be much better next week.

He made enough completions to keep the chains moving and help us win the game. He didn't turn the ball over either. We didn't have a ton of possessions in this game, he did enough to come away with a win. If he forces the ball down the field and takes unnecessary risks, we might be talking about a loss right now.
September 30, 20187 yr He's average. When the team plays well, he's good enough to win. The team played quite well in the first half, not nearly as well in the second. Good on Sam for making the big 3rd down conversions when it counted on the last drive, though.

Yea that doesn’t work against good defensive teams, that’s why we should care. The chains didn’t enough in the second half. Are we settling now for a qb that doesn’t throw well but doesn’t turn it over now..., ok. Edited September 30, 20187 yr by Hook1997
September 30, 20187 yr Again, and forever, the problem isn't Sam, it's the offensive line. Dude's proven he's pretty accurate, he can run, don't know what else you want. He's probably better than Tebow was, if you judge by the numbers. Maybe he needs to love Jesus more. Edited September 30, 20187 yr by Thetexashammer

They suck because they can't put any points on the board. They're probably better on D at home than OU will be in Dallas.

Does this guy watch the same games as us? Yea he’s accurate in lateral passes.....

September 30, 20187 yr If we had David Ash we'd be ahead by 21 right now. One of my favorite memories from the David Ash era is beating Kansas State by 3 touchdowns.

He's making smart plays even if he isn't capable of hitting all the throws consistently. He's keeping the seat warm which will help us recruit better talent in the long run.
September 30, 20187 yr Good efficiency, mediocre production. The lack of turnovers has been the biggest net positive.
September 30, 20187 yr He's playing good if he hits those other throws, he would be playing amazing. We need him to play amazing in order to beat the likes of OU and West Virginia this year.

Yep, the OL was below average and awful when they put Shackelford in the game. The running game only exists due to the greatness of a hobbled Ingram, and the tenacity of Watson.

We need our OL to stay healthy
September 30, 20187 yr Ehlinger led our offense to one fucking touchdown today. That's not going to get it done against any halfway decent team

Johnson tied his career high for TD in a season 3.. That’s a travesty, I’m just so tired of not having a qb. If we get down against OU hopefully Shane gets a chance and hit those deep throws like he did as a freshman

September 30, 20187 yr Bitches gonna bitch. Who the shit cares. 4-1. 1st time we've won at K-State in what, forever. Enjoy the win against a program that has dominated us at there home for what twenty years. If this is one his worse games and we win, I will take it.

Still rough around the edges and misses some throws. He's completing a good percentage, protecting the ball well. Overall his passing is OK, but add in his ability to run and move the chains makes him a good step above average.
September 30, 20187 yr I will agree that he looked more off this week than he has this year. If this was his bad game I will take it and the win. Not expecting a 25-30 performance, but a win at a difficult place. Lets hope he saved his big game for next week and crush the midget bugler.

September 30, 20187 yr Not his best game, but we won. We tend to win with him playing QB. Hes SCRAPPY as the coaches say. Dude caught a batted ball and took off with it full speed trying to get the first down. Against OU, I think he can have his coming out party. We got A TON of talent at receiver. He just needs to connect on some deep balls like he did against USC and TCU. Once their shit-tier defense is on their heels, we run it strait down their fucking ass. Then we run it some more. Then some more.

He does stupid shit and is kind of inconsistent but he makes plays. He's the best athlete we've had at QB since Vince.
September 30, 20187 yr He's dumb as a fucking brick, but he's got good natural talent and a nice arm when his feet are set. Hopefully the dumbness goes away as he continues to mature - he's been less backbreaking this year post-Maryland.

I don't remember him ever having been a good passer, but that's a damn good number. Sam doesn't have that. Tebow had a national championship team surrounding him from cradle to grave, so I suspect that's the difference. Visually he's about like Tebow, but a better passer. Best since Colt, no doubt. When he was hitting TTU and OSU players between the numbers late in the 4th quarter I would have agreed that he's dumb. Not perfect but he's not made many "dumb" plays this year.
September 30, 20187 yr They'll have to find a way to get Sam more time against OU, but they'll have him practicing long balls all week long. Orland will have to get his D to kick it up another notch. That OU qb is deadly accurate.

They're always pure "wtf dude?" moments where the ball is 5 yards away from wide open guys. Statistically he looks pretty great this year.
