August 21Aug 21 Where were all of these Clemson players last year when gimpy Tre Wisner was popping off 15 yard runs at will? I get that teams improve in the offseason, but it’s difficult to wrap your head around the Clemson hype based on last year’s performance against the only teams with a pulse.

August 21Aug 21 I think a reasonable recent comp for Hill might be Jihaad Campbell, who just went at pick #31
August 21Aug 21 Brugler has said that Peter Woods is a near Jalen Carter type for him (I think he called him a 90% Jalen Carter), which is a top three pick but probably shouldn't be ranked ahead of an elite QB prospect on a big board, but I'm assuming he just wants more live bullet against real defenses data for Arch

Objectively defend taking CJ Allen over Hill. Go for it. Campbell would be a comp if Hill didn't put up the havoc numbers that he puts up. There's not a great recent comparison for an off the ball LB with the size and speed and also production that Hill has. The draft dorks will overthink it and ding him for stupid shit because they cannot help themselves and then some dipshits in front offices will do the same. He'll fall into the teens or twenties and then put up HOF numbers for a decade. He's as sure a thing as there will be in this draft outside of Caleb Downs. Having him in the 30's is fucking dumb and indefensible. Also, yeah, people can whisper all they want about him winding up on the edge. Fucking great. Those guys go top 10 too. It's just idiotic.

Woods was playing DE because of roster mismanagement. The DC sucked and got fired. Woods and Parker are legit top 10 picks, barring injuries. Terrell is very good, but still the second best CB on the roster behind Ash Hampton. No comment on Klubnik, never has a college player confused me more. Wisner did pop off, but it was Blue and Helm who made me realize this was the end of the season.
August 21Aug 21 Here's the blurb from the article on Hill: Quote Hill arrived in Austin as a five-star recruit with a ton of fanfare, which he lived up to as a Freshman All-American in 2023 and second team All-American in 2024. Because of his resume and production, NFL hype has followed. NFL scouts don’t currently view Hill as a slam-dunk first-round pick — as one put it to me: “His traits are good, but I can’t call any of those traits ‘outstanding.’” But Hill is an easy player to like because of his size, speed and hunting skills.
August 21Aug 21 I guess it's not very fair because he was a true freshman at the time, but I can't read Kadyn Proctor's name without thinking about future 5th round pick Ethan Burke absolutely abusing him in Tuscaloosa.

I guess there's a reason some teams always draft early...
August 21Aug 21 Definitely getting drafted (Seniors who will definitely go and Juniors who are almost certain to declare): Give me 7 from this group of 8 Hill, Muhammad, Trey Moore, Taaffe, Shaw, Campbell, Goosby, Burke Maybe getting drafted (seniors who might get drafted or juniors who would probably get drafted but not definitely coming out): give me 5 of this 12. DeAndre Moore, Guilbeau, Baxter, McDonald, Wisner, Spence, Arch, Hutson, Endries, Vasek, Kanu, Brevard Keep an eye out but I'd bet against (either because coming back or not all that good): Give me 1 from this group of 4 and anyone I might have forgotten. Derek Williams, Lefau, Bouwmeester, Neto, 13. So much just depends on if the team wins it all and accomplishes its goals and we see Jr.'s flock to the draft. That second column could be like 2 or 3 or it could be like 9 if we have a huge season and everyone stays healthy and plays well (everyone won't stay healthy and play well of course).

I always get accused of being too optimisitc when I do these- but I'm really not. People pay attention to the big number but the caveat on that is always, if we have a huge season and everyone stays healthy and plays well which they won't. I initially had both of them a level up, but chickened out. Williams being in the bottom group is why I said 1 instead of 0.5. Guilbeau not being in the top group is why I said 7 and not 7.5. I missed on exactly one guy last year in my "guaranteed drafted" column and that was Isaiah Bond. I thought Jake was 75/25 to get drafted and Connor was 25/75- so that played out with 1 pick like I expected it to be. Sort of surprised Trey Moore and Michael Taaffe came back or we would have gotten to that 15/16 I had as definitely possible. Edited August 21Aug 21 by Wulaw Horn

October 2Oct 2 Brugler has been down on the top of the draft recently, talking about how the QBs and some of the other previously graded/mocked top three types have mostly disappointed. A few weeks ago he talked about how it might be OTs towards the top, and now he's saying while it's a deep OT class, those guys are mostly good rather than great Here's a new mock by Tice and his buddy https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/article/2026-nfl-mock-draft-10-an-edge-defender-goes-no-1-and-4-qbs-follow-him-in-the-top-10-220558890.html

It feels like Dante Moore is about the only guy who still has a chance to go #1 over Bain. Mendoza's interesting, but I can't see him going #1 overall and none of the other QBs look to have much of a chance. Jordyn Tyson has looked awesome this year and definitely looks like the top WR in the draft, although him going #3 overall like Tice's mock has him seems awfully rich for him. I also think the draft being weak at the top benefits Caleb Downs a ton. Even elite safeties, like Kyle Hamilton and Derwin James, tend to fall in drafts, but when the other options are weak, Downs might just go top 5 due to him being a almost a guaranteed hit even if he has low position value.

Thinks can obviously change only one month into the season, but.. #1 feels pretty wide open to me right now. Mendoza, Sellers, and Moore seem possible, although Moore's lack of starts has to be concerning, also curious to see what he actually measures at. This could be a year where a combine measurables monster at DL or OT jumps everyone. An elite CB, WR, or DT from past classes could have potentially gone #1 in this class, but I don't think there's that guy at any of those positions this year Downs is awesome, but if you're going to take a safety in the top five, you probably want someone who gets interceptions, although this isn't your normal top five A LB won't go #1, but Arvell Reese looks like a monster, and he's seemingly already passed up his teammate, the Georgia guy, and Hill as the top LB, and I wonder if he'll sneak up into the top five. He's sneakily one of the best players in the country, and he's also projectable Kenyon Sadiq should probably go in the top ten in this class. People love the high end receiving TEs, but the ones who can block at every level while being very good WRs rather than elite are becoming more valuable now that the name of the game is punishing light boxes and creative defensive looks in the run game

Lowside I have 7 going, high side, like winning a national title, Arch saying bye and everyone deciding to go out on a high note? Could see as many as 16. Imma say 10 Drafted as of right now: Ant hill, Taaffe, Burke, Moore, Goosby, McDonald, Manny M, could happen: Wisner, Brevard, Shaw, Kanu, Guilbeau. I have no idea how many Jag type DT’s will get drafted. All 3 of the Texas guys have played somewhere between really solidly and fine and are big enough and seemingly could serve a function, but none are obviously impact guys. If you told me no chance or absolutely will on any of them I’d shrug my shoulders and say ok. Guilbeau didn’t have the leap forward I’d hoped for. If he tests well is someone going to take a shot? Maybe. Wisner would get drafted for 3rd down back/special teams. He’d be a good RB3 for a team with 2 good backs imo. That seems like 6th rounder waiting to happen. Would be rather come back for NIL? Dunno. Edited November 7Nov 7 by Wulaw Horn

I think some scouts are going to recognize the OL run issues he has dealt with the last 2 year while still being a very productive back. Goosby as others have already noted isn't ready, imo. Taaffe is a proven team leader. I could see him going higher into a team that lacks that on D. (For Taaffe don't be Dallas) Hill is a beast someone absolutely sees his value.

I had Wisner as in the maybe not b/c I don't think he'd get drafted but b/c I think he might come back for NIL over being like 4th or 6th round draft pick. Goosby would absolutely get taken, and he's graded out as a top 5 tackle (I think) amongst draft eligible tackles). He will get better with another year of reps and strength training- but you can say the same about everyone. I will assume he's gone until he's not, and if he's not that will make me very happy.
November 7Nov 7 For Texas, Goosby and Jelani are the big TBD NFL decisions this offseason. Maybe Kanu. Would be huge if they stay. I don't think DeAndre Moore gets a good enough grade. Hill and MM gone.

December 3Dec 3 Listening to the podcast on this, a couple of notes - weak top 12 or so, but the draft starts getting stronger relative to pick slot after those picks, especially if you're able to get Downs and Love outside the top ten - the strength at the top is edge rushing, but some teams like NYG probably can't draft that, and others will be looking at QB, so there might be value there - nobody is going to be looking to trade up except for 1-2 teams trading up for a QB (Cleveland) - The QBs are more good than great.
