One day in season. CFB is still typically two.

But that's not what's meant. NFL teams practice less in pads than what is allowed, and focus more on classroom, walkthroughs, and player-led skill training.

What NFL-style practice means is that you spend your padded practice day in an intense 90-120 minute session where you get fined for not sprinting and not knowing a classroom teaching point. Instead of a 4-hour practice spent teaching and taking breaks as you go. Impetus is on the player to be basically game-ready.

I'm not sure about offseason rules, but the NFL gets 14 in season padded practices. It's now an 18 week season. Do you have backup that current NFL teams now practice even less than that? I would be surprised if that's the case, because the NFL is constantly criticized by former players/coaches about the lack of practice resulting in shit play.

I don't have an opinion on how good this dude is, but visiting Rutgers and South Carolina and "conversations ongoing" with LSU and Texas 100% sounds like the agent using LSU's and Texas's names to drum up interest.

did I miss somewhere that Seaton would want to play RT next season? Dude was the #1 overall LT out of HS, played 2 seasons of LT at Colorado and we have our starting LT (and likely 1st rounder) entrenched at LT. Seems like we are trying to make a square peg fit.

We've discussed this a bit further back in the thread. The most likely answer to your question is that he wants to play LT, and that Goosby is fine with moving to RT, with Baker sliding to RG. Baker knows that guard is his most likely position in the NFL and is fine with the move. The consensus (although we're not certain) is that Goosby doesn't care if he plays RT or LT, and views the positions as interchangeable. The hope is that Seaton will feel the same way and we'll put him and Goosby at the position that best suits each of them. But if Seaton is dead set on playing LT, we can move the pieces around to accommodate.

But this has mostly been informed speculation on our part. I recommend that you go back and read the fucking thread if you want more detail.

Every aggy OL (and QB honestly) was greatly overrated because the threats of Concepcion and Craver made the other offensive players look much better than reality. A&M's weak schedule helped too obviously

Trey Zuhn was voted All-SEC despite being a turnstile in the 2 games aggy played against real teams.

Something to keep in mind, aggy OL was a Joe Moore semifinalist and consistently rated one of the best in the SEC by pundits despite starts 5 JAGs who wont sniff the 3rd round of the draft. Texas next year will have significantly better skill and QB talent than A&M plus at least one future high draft pick at OT

Texas offense will be very good next year.

Specifically to Cam, he fell like a rock due to a medical. A knee issue that was never going to get better.

Cam's archetype gets overdrafted all the time

Brugler is ahead of the curve on the draft stuff, and he's the best sourced in the industry outside of DJ, and DJ doesn't put stuff out until later. If you follow draft stuff, you're an idiot if you don't put stock in what he's saying because he gets a few things wrong in an industry where everyone is frequently wrong

Based on quick PFF look and some brief film. It would my preference to see Goosby at RT and Seaton at LT, assuming Seaton comes. Goosby appears to be the better run blocker and more versatile player. Pretty cool of Goosby to turn down the draft and be willing to move positions.

Tribute band for a Seattle based singer that died. Vedder happened to be around to audition for what would become Pearl Jam.

They were a combo of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden before, I think, Pearl Jam got famous. Vedder picked up some of the vocals on Hunger Strike to help out Cornell, who didn't have the range that some of the song required. Vedder at the time was a relative unknown. That's going off of memory from an old interview I read or saw back around the time that Cornell committed suicide. Don't shoot me if Wiki or some other source says I'm wrong with authority.

The stupid is contagious here. It’s insane.

We have seen, from prior years!, that the final enrollment date, @JesusSweatDuck , for a semester does not matter. There are exceptions. So why create a false premise? Does it move the conversation forward?

As to the NFL roster or practice stuff, most of that was discussed in the offseason and preseason threads on the football board, and many of us here were not in favor of it. It wasn’t discussed in any depth on the $9.95er forum and BO&W is being disingenuous with his bullshit fucking claims otherwise. The idea he’s conveying in his comments right now is that he gets it and we’re otherwise in fantasyland does not deserve any further oxygen. I’m convinced he posts while wearing clown makeup.

The continued panicking over OL depth here is nauseating. Texas is still working on some big answers to their rotation and then will sign, as with other positions, guys who can fill in the roster. Barring catastrophe for any team, no one is reaching regularly into their 3 deep for help at any position, OL and otherwise. This stupid fucking lamentation that Texas should have starter quality experience and depth behind, you know, the starters, is ridiculous and some sort of new portal horror porn kink for a bunch of you guys coming off as rubes.

Right here in this thread a new phenomenon in CFB fandom can be witnessed. People are now panicking when the concept of playing a younger player to replace a starter is floated. New starters developed on the roster after being recruited to the school is how starting talent has been replaced for 150 fucking years. Now? Unacceptable. No talent recruited into the program can become a starter. If Texas loses a starter to the NFL, by gawd, he better be replaced from the portal with proven starter talent from the P4. If that isn’t the case, then Texas doesn’t give a fuck about winning and is happy being mediocre.

Why even have a recruiting board with this level of hivemind idiotic thinking?

Well, although some good points are made in your post, many of them are attributed to “stupidity” rather than to the chaos of a rapidly changing world of talent acquisition. I can’t speak directly for those who have frustrated you with their supposed “stupidity,” but I can speak for myself.

It’s hard to accept that kids we once got attached to, the way we did in the past, will now likely find their success elsewhere. In the old model, they were simply the next man up. Last year, some of us were hopeful that the next man up would be the answer to losses from graduation and the NFL, only for that to go very wrong. This occurred in a landscape where other teams didn’t wait for the next man up and instead filled their deficiencies with proven starters from lower levels. Sometimes that worked, sometimes it didn’t but who really wants to focus on the failures? We tend to notice only that we fell short while others had success.

These two realities are diametrically opposed and create conflicting expectations. Some people try to express that tension out loud, anonymously and without fully thinking it through, while others just want to troll and end up on ignore. The NFL felt like a lost cause when free agency first started, but fans did not have public forums to vent about it. Over time, we adjusted and stopped thinking much about it just like it will happen in college football. Now, for many of us, college football is the deeper passion, and the one thing I do not want it to inherit from the NFL is its fandom model of bandwagon goons. I believe that model developed because there were no longer players kids and their parents could get attached to, so now they only show up for the "car crashes."

Does this texags like repeated 'fact' all come from the recent OTF interview when he didn't say that or did he actually say it somewhere? In that interview he was asked about his 2024 season as the swing tackle backup and what it was like coming in for Banks in the A&M game and later also filling in at RT. The question wasn't about a current or future preference. Not that he couldn't move to RT anyway.

Yeah, I watched that interview and moving to RT this season was most definitely never discussed during it. I am assuming he's good with it or they wouldn't be chasing after Seaton though.
