Meh. It was 13-6 with 10 minutes to play and then we got Nibblet’d. Texas scored one offensive touchdown. The game up for grabs. Texas grabbed it just in time.

lol

Please settle down guys, the players read this forum.

Dear Parker,

You are a traitor and I hope you have violent diarrhea every gameday.

I’m an old, been on these boards since they were invented. Was around for “I’m stunned, I’m pissed” and long before. Obviously I don’t post much but this sooner has repeatedly acknowledged their recent futility and been humble on this thread. I’ve learned over the years that CFB can be nothing but upside for your life, even when we are losing. It can always be fun. I appreciate riding rivals hard even when they try to be nice but this isn’t even clever. Take a minute and put your degree to work so it is at least entertaining.

Focusness.

OTF says the Wisconsin IOL is Indiana bound.

Assumed that was the case once satya alerted us to the fact his old O-Line coach was now at Indiana.

I don't think we were ever really in play. Just wishcasting from 995 and our overoptimistic staff.

Not one of these OL had any connection to Texas, either the school or the state. No connection to any of our coaches, and as far as I can tell had never even been recruited by Texas as high school recruits. I understand that the money aspect of this now make relationships significantly less important - but it seemed like some really random choices to go after.

Yikes.

Agreed - pretty cringe for a player who got paid a shit ton of money for not doing a god damn thing to criticize the people signing off on the checks.

Well, we didn't really know we had OL issues until very recently so we had to scramble.

Was thinking about this same thing. Are there really no decent Big 12 or SEC lineman closer to home with eligibility we can tamper with?

Unfortunately we have a few more players that fit that description lately

Bo wasn't a pipeline player. It's why he didn't get reps this year. It's why we offered him a paycut.

Auburn lost Cam Coleman. UGA just lost two 5 star level OL into the portal. Bama has lost a ton of high level players. Ohio State just lost a 5 star WR to the portal. Michigan may lose their starting tackle to Texas. Florida has their best edge player in the portal. Tenn just lost their starting LT to the portal. Should I keep going?

Hmm. Seems our DC may not agree with your vitriolic take on Bo Barnes.

There’s gonna be a lot of folks locked up by Friday if this shit doesn’t do a 180 by then.

Hey man, we are on point with our rumor milling, innuendo and song posting. Our murder rates aren't terrible either.

I wonder how this portal season will affect highschool recruiting this coming year. With all of these young guys transferring without contributing much but also taking a decent amount of NIL to recruit and retain while they were on campus, could we see highschool NIL values come down a lot? Maybe not for the top tier guys, but I could see a scenario where schools (and donors) aren't going to pay much this year for players who likely won't see the field the first year or two.

We could be in for a wild highschool recruiting period as there could be a pretty sizeable market adjustment.

If the "blue bloods" treat their rosters like NFL teams, the best high school players - except those that can contribute immediately - may end up playing their first few seasons on lesser teams to get paid and then hope to move up in the portal.

What’s the best solution to this?Seems like certifying agents, standardized contracts and multi-year contracts with buyouts for both sides would be a good start. Would those need to be collectively bargained with the players, who would have to form some kind of union, or could that be implemented by the conferences and withstand a legal challenge?

If there is a potential bright side to this madness, there will likely be a ton more players entering the portal as they see the first wave of players getting paid. So, they’ll be able to get more money from their current schools after visiting Texas.

Also, if y’all haven’t read it, there was a good article, I think in the Athletic, talking about how TCU(?) was preparing for the portal.

Well Goosby / Cojoe / Robertson / Baker / Brooks it is

I can live with a combo of this but we still need 3 players inside. At a minimum.

All that and we went 10-3 and, if we're being honest, should have been included in the playoff.

Sark is a wizard.

Put it on the wall, I guess.

Oh wait, this isn't TexAgs and there's no "should have made the playoff" trophy.

According to On3…..There are 2,543 IOL in the portal. 27% have committed elsewhere. We can’t find 3 to help us?

That's a lot of flights into Austin for height and weight checks.

That sucks. Well at least we benefited from something similar considering our running backs coach helped us get Baugh

Props to Texas for offering enough NIL to make 5 different players think about leaving their current teams, but not enough to actually convince them to do it. That’s a tight rope I’m not sure Charles Blondin could walk.

Ha I think that number is total in the portal but point remains. Scouting department needs to earn their checks

#7999

I wonder if our GM/coaches considered Michigan hired a credible coach and that team appeared to really come together leading up to the Citrus bowl game. A couple of data points that to me what have made me consider poaching players from that program might be a bit more difficult than we thought and we may need to scout/direct attention elsewhere just in case.

Brooks can be a credibly good tackle with more development. Cojoe we never got to see any real playing time because of injury but Brooks can absolutely be a tackle for us at some point. Do not get confused by Flood’s total mismanagement of playing him at guard, as a freshman without any training at the position.
