The Nebraska offense had 106 total yards in that game. And zero touchdowns.

If Watson was shit-talking after that game, he deserves the Johnny Jolly "Know When To Celebrate" award.

I was in the box next to the Nebraska coaches for that game. At one point in the second half, I was looking at the Texas sidelines with binoculars and an assistant coach walked over with a clip board to coach Hall up but realized he was sobbing uncontrollably and instead but his hand on his shoulder to comfort him. It’s still the wildest shit I have ever seen on a football sideline.

Alex Okafor made the Oregon State right tackle sob on the sideline of the (2012?) Alamo Bowl. Okafor had 4.5 sacks and a forced fumble that night. Oregon State refused to give the tackle any help even though he was getting his ass beat all game, left him crying like a baby with a coach trying to console him as the clock hit all zeros . No idea why I still remember that with so much detail.

Didn't Alex Okafor do that to an OT in one of the bowl games? Like Oregon State or somebody. I'll admit it's funnier when it's not happening to your guy.

It definitely couldn’t have been Connor Stroh.

I was told the playing favorites shit with Stroh went so far as to them lying about him being hurt rather than admitting they just benched his ass. I don’t know if I believe that because it just sounds too unbelievable,

I know of at least one very heated conversation where he doubled down on having made the right choice, claimed Stroh would still be starting if not injured and then basically said in not so many words that the OL would get even worse with him out. Probably already saying more than I should but fuck that guy. Was the moment I became certain we need to yeet his ass into the sun or in the very least hire another coach that actually handles the OL even if Flood keeps the title as Sark's favorite ass licker.

There is a good chance this was about Stroh actually. Say what you want about his level of play but he and his family fully embraced becoming part of the Longhorn community in a way that is increasingly rare now. I've talked as much vicious shit about the kid's playing ability as anyone and feel zero guilt (these are now paid professional athletes so it goes with the territory) but I can only imagine how difficult that must be to see as a parent. Or as a kid just honestly trying your best and failing. In theory it could also fit Roberson who was actually pretty good at corner but was just permanently branded a brain dead fuckup for his penalty issues.

Man Mack had some fucking badass teams around that time . That man could recruit his ass off, but was lazy in every other area

There is actually a photo out there somewhere of him condescending McCoy visibly. Maybe a video as well. It's pretty infuriating.

Right. When Mack got lazy in recruiting, he sewed the seeds to his downfall. He was elite on the recruiting end, that and kicker whispering were his elite traits, and when he betrayed his recruiting skills, he created his own doomsday machine.

I think so. Plenty of guys have improved under him and his guys have almost uniformly credited him for helping them get better.

If Flood recognized what his best players / alignment were at the beginning of the season and then did not play them until late in the season, he should be fired YESTERDAY. Even I thought we should we should be using that group after the Stroh failure and one game of watching Nick Brooks.

Update from the Michigan On3 site on the Cal LB

• Cal linebacker Cade Uluave appears to be trending away. We felt good about this one at one point, but this morning we heard “Michigan or BYU …” and this afternoon that this one could be an admissions casualty for U-M.

As of 4:45, this one appears to be trending to the Cougars as a result. Michigan, of course, has had issues with juniors, requiring a certain amount of credits for a U-M degree.

Yes. He's had multiple 3-stars go to the NFL at a position group that is highly reliant on skill over raw athleticism.

Some programs have begun splitting up tackles and IOL into two different position groups with their own coaches the same way edge and IDL are split now. I believe Cal just did this. I doubt we will explore that avenue but I do think it will become increasingly popular in the future with coaching caps removed. Flood is hardly alone in being specifically good at only one aspect of his position.

This is what I'd like to see for this year. Hire an "Assistant OL Coach" like a lot of schools are doing and have that person focus on the interior.

Flood has consistently done well with OTs at Texas but pretty consistently struggled with the interior, at least in run blocking.

Should have happened the day the limit on coaches was removed. Same for edge/DE vs DT which has happened. Honestly same for any of the sub positions - act like you are Texas and not a bunch of broke boys.

FWIW - Tope Imade said that his one season with Flood was like starting over and being taught/coached for the first time. He was learning technique and skills that were never shown by Mattox, Warehime, or Hand Tope raved about Flood from Day 1.

Ricky Williams did something similar. There was one game where he just straight up ran over a DB who tried to stop him on the goal line. Ricky ran over his ass ugly. It was a comical mismatch. The dude went to his bench and cried. I don't remember which team or game, I just remember seeing the dude crying on the bench.

I can’t find what Sark recently said about not being done with the coaching staff maneuvering. It sounded like an on-field coach or two would be moved to an off-field role. I understand that’s not as important because the coach limits do not exist anymore. Just sounded like that

Kirkendoll. What a deflating drop that was.

I'm still convinced that drop cost Colt the Heisman. A TD there, and we go up 17-6 early in the 4th with Nebraska having to come back with a shit-ass QB. Would have completely changed the complexion of the game with field position and a struggling NU offense in desperation mode.

I think we'd have won by 15+, with Colt over 275 tds, and the last image of him to voters not being a near-disaster after being rag-dolled all Q4.

Oklahoma State defensive end Wendell Gregory was thought to be narrowing in on a decision late Sunday.

However, a new week means a new vision for his future, according to an agent source.

Gregory was thought to be deciding between Texas, Wisconsin, Texas Tech and Kansas State. The Longhorns and Wildcats (somewhat surprisingly) were thought to be the primary competitors.

Now, after not reaching a deal with Texas to K-State, it appears Gregory’s going back on the open market.

Texas will continue to monitor, and things could change at a moment’s notice.

Cal linebacker Cade Uluave is thought to be deciding between Michigan and BYU with Texas now on the outside looking in.

**

Yale OL Mike Bennett committed to Oregon earlier today.

**

Texas defensive back Warren Roberson announced his intention to enter the transfer portal.

**

We’ll see who else enters the portal this week, both going and coming. It’s a waiting game for colleges nationwide.

It only becomes a big deal when you want to get in from the 1 yard line. (See: Oklahoma once and Ohio State twice)

I would hope if we can't just power it in we can see something like Arch in the gun with run options, option to swing to a RB in the flat or options to throw it up to Cam, if we still suck at lining up and running it in QB sneak style.

I think yall underestimate how shitty our skill guys were the last couple years which did nothing to help the line (and the line was shitty which did nothing to help the skill guys, and Arch was point shaving or something in September and against Kentucky).

With the way I've seen Gerry alter his writing regarding Gregory, the Edge from Okie State, I'm starting to believe he may very well wind up Texas. That would mean the guy had a few more visits and thought "huh, not really the level of offer from anyone that I was expecting, but good offers nonetheless. Now, where would I really like to play?

If that's the case and they land him, I am assuming that Vasek hits the road, as has been rumored since November.

There is a chance that a Safety enters the portal with a no contact tag. No certainty, but a shot. Otherwise, you're not including Black or Roberson in your thinking at S and you probably should for at least one of them.

JJR is smart and willing to mix it up. Is he just not athletic enough to get it done- if it came down to that?

I'd like another safety before I'd like another edge, but it's not a super pressing need I guess.
