strong's 2nd season

OC and Oline coach: joe wickline

combined number of starts on the OL: 39

total offense: 103 yards passing, 60 yards rushing

final score: 38-3

+++

what is the total number of combined starts that we could run out right now if the spring game was tomorrow?

would it be more than 39?

a weaponized arch isn't going to do fuckall if he's not alive

cdc should be waterboarding everyone for this fuckup every morning

the beatings should continue until morale improves

LOL, what's a spring game?

H.S. Scouting Report Evaluated 05/13/2024

Gabe Brooks 247Sports Scouting Analyst

Big-bodied, physical O-line prospect with tackle experience who might be able to provide roster flexibility at the P4 level. Projects to guard in the long run, but does possess requisite arm length to play outside if needed. Thrives as a drive-blocking presence in the run game who locks on and tries to finish reps. Hand placement is generally a plus. Keeps paws inside the frame to aid steering strength. Displays adequate functional athleticism to get to targets on schedule as a puller and climber. Owns multi-sport reps in shot put and discus. More advanced as a run blocker than in pass pro at this point of development. Still working on balance and body control, especially when engaged. Gets upright at times and can flash more punch consistency. Projects to the P4 level as a potential multi-year starter who could develop into a pro prospect down the road.

Rising OL Jackson Christian inks with Texas

Gerald Goodridge

Dec 4, 2024, 8:01 AM CST

The Texas Longhorns added another #BigHuman with the signature of offensive lineman Jackson Christian on Wednesday.

Texas was the first P4 school to offer Christian, with Kyle Flood extending an offer during a summer camp following his sophomore year. He took an unofficial visit for Texas’s big win over Kansas in September of 2023, made a return trip for Junior Day in January, then committed in May over Texas A&M. He came to campus one final time for the big June 21 recruiting weekend as one of several committed players.

A two-sport athlete for PNG, throwing the shot put and discus, in addition to his time as a Unanimous All-District selection in 2023. Ranked the No. 584 player in the class overall and the No. 41 interior offensive lineman in the country, he adds another versatile, high-upside piece to Kyle Flood’s offensive line group.

Coming in at 6’5, 309 pounds, he is actually the lightest player in the offensive line group behind his three classmates. His frame provides positional versatility, projecting inside to guard, but with arm length for potentially playing on the outside if his development trends in that direction.

+++

i know we have PNG people on this board

did this kid play any center at PNG?

did he snap shotgun, field goals and punts?

how is his passpro?

+++

someone ask nahlin: where is he getting the "C" from with this guy?

He repped at center the second half of last season.

Whenever the destination school requires them to be enrolled in classes is what I've read

Brooks needs to go start somewhere at tackle. Its better for his career vs potentially being our 4th tackle/guard depth which he was woefully underprepared for.

Our swing tackle assuming we pull Seaton would be Baker. He would slide back out to replace whichever tackle went down. Still need depth on the interior

That's the deadline to request it i believe. Teams have 48 hours to fullfill the request, so technically we can still see names trickle into the portal until Sunday

No, just have to deal with the school's academic calendar.

But isn't that just to play spring ball. Won't some guys just work all spring and enroll somewhere in the summer?

Only grad transfers could do that and other specific situations. I think… Thats why there will be thousands of kids losing their scholarships and on their parents couch. Not really a pretty sight from that perspective

If you're talking about guys who already entered the portal, yeah I guess they could join a new team during any academic enrollment period.

If you're talking about guys who didn't enter the portal, they're not supposed to be able to, no, but the NCAA gets challenged on these things and loses all the time these days.

They technically have until fall to find spots, but it's iffy to pick up someone and not do spring and have them ready.

Yeah, but it's not as iffy as NOT having an option on your roster. Alot of the guys sitting out do have experience. It's the NBA once teams start waiving guys.

#12328

Not panicking (yet) - this staff has consistently shown the ability to pull a rabbit out of their hat at the last minute in a lot of similar situations. It's actually happened just about every time this board was starting to freak out about something.

But the OL depth chart for the 2027 season is currently looking... rough

Could they not make it?

Or did Flood refuse to give them an opportunity?

We heard promising comments about Kibble right up until mid August when Peppermint Patty “suddenly” burst onto the scene.

And then P.P. played like 💩.

It would have been nice to see what Kibble and Cruz could do against the shitty teams that our other guys struggled against.

They had a plan. Plan A. It flopped. They’ve been scrambling at OL ever since. We might wind up okay, but that will only be through some luck and moneywhipping.

Obviously money talks but Brooks leaving is odd from both sides. Texas needs quality depth this year and someone who can play OT next year. Brooks looked so bad this year that his market can't be that hot. Not sure where he would find a better situation.

One thing for sure though - Texas needs to find more OL targets than just Seaton. That's going to be highly competitive and even if you get him, you probably need another OG or two for depth.

How is it not obvious to the whole lot of you jackasses that Brooks was paid heavy freight during his freshman year, had a terrible offseason, a terrible season and then was surprised by a rather large pay cut offer to resign? Hope is that dipshit’s strategy in the portal. That’s it. Likely his best offer is the one he just walked away from at Texas.

1 hour ago, Skipper said:

Funny you say that but he actually wasn't, at least initially. I get random high quality info at times and the Texas evaluation of Ojo going into junior day was definitely not to the "can't miss 5 star" level he was rated by the recruiting services. Maybe that changed over time as it was a bit dated when I saw the eval. At the time I thought Flood knew what he was doing so we probably dodged a bullet when he committed to Tech (at least at that crazy price point). Then as I watched our OL shit itself, I thought back to that evaluation and then assumed Ojo will be a day 1 All American in Lubbock. Didn't follow Ojo after he committed to Tech so no idea what current expectations are for him or how his SR film looked.

They didn’t trust their eyeballs with Ojo and fell into the starfucking trap that they’re susceptible to each cycle. Gerry and Bobby have been the only $9.95ers locally or nationally who have repeatedly shit on Ojo’s rating and said he’s a project.

Meanwhile, since committing to Tech, he’s underperformed his rating during his senior year and had opposing coaches talk shit about him to anyone that would listen and also gotten his shit wrecked repeatedly at the AA showcases.

How can you be this involved in recruiting and roster building and still not have a fucking clue how the portal works? Texas can land depth, bread and/or Seaton weeks after the portal closes.

And God damn, motherfuckers, they can sign and add guys at any position all the way up to the last add/drop day of the fall 2026 semester as long as they portaled as of 11:59 on Friday night. Portaled means applied their intent, with the school being required to then submit their paperwork within 48 hours. Not a single fucking entrant has to be signed by that time, by anybody.

Negged for cumulative stupidity on this thread and also typing declaratively about something and being completely fucking wrong in multiple ways in just one post.

1) grad transfers are no longer treated differently.

2) no one has to be signed somewhere by the end of Friday night or this weekend in general.

? They can be in the portal and sign with a team and enroll in their next semester that school starts summer and or fall. Why would they be out of school for a year? It’s only dependent on when a school can add or drop classes if they are gonna be here for spring. Just like Caldwell last year I am sure there will be late additions.

Bready McBreaderson could wind up at Texas due to the DC change and fall ass backwards into good money and a chance to change his trajectory and actually show everybody something. The portal and NIL can renew the life of a bust in one roll of the dice. No one should be more grateful for this shifting landscape than former 4 and 5 stars who have flamed out.

I sure as shit would have in my youth.
