December 8Dec 8 Popular Post We need to get some actual playmakers at WR, and Tony Diaz an easy get. 3 years of eligibility left, one of the top receivers in FCS last year, freshman all-conference, and is local from San Marcos. "Lacey" would be KJ Lacey, tiny backup QB powerhouse at Texas. There's a shot everyone needs to bone up on the proper spelling for these two.

I'm hoping one more offseason gets Baxter back to near 100% and he can improve his draft stock, even if that means it happens in a jersey color other than burnt orange. Yeah, the only player that comes to mind just happens to be a beyond generational freak, Adrian Peterson. I mean, let's forget just playing normal again. This mf'er tore both his ACL AND MCL in December of 2011, only to come back in 2012 and rush for not only 2k (2,097) but damn near broke Eric Dickerson's record (2,105). Dude was 8 yards short of tying and 9 from taking it. Everyone knows he's a legend. We don't need his stats. Lock for the HOF. 15 seasons in the NFL. The other player I just thought of is Frank Gore, who coming out of HS was actually considered AP before AP. He was another generational freak. He was an absolute force to be reckoned with. Dude tore his ACL TWICE before coming to the NFL and being a beast. He still made All-Pro once and the Pro Bowl five times. Is almost certainly a lock for the HOF. 16 seasons in the NFL. Willis McGahee in the NC game against fOSU. Tore his MCL/PCL. Still made two pro bowls. Though he won't be making the HOF, he still had a very productive career. One of only a few players to ever rush for 1k yards for three different teams. 10 seasons in the NFL. That's it. Looking up the percentage of how many players, running back in particular can come back the same, and it's staggeringly low (18.5%-30%), but to come back better?  Its so low they don't even have a percentage, so my guess is around 1%-5%, and that's just the NFL. Not even college, but the highest level athlete you can be. I just read that Thurman Thomas tore his ACL in college and never had it repaired, only to go on to the NFL HOF. That's fucking wild. That's some Bo Jackson-tyoe legendary shit. So yeah, it's probably not going to happen for Baxter. Those three guys that I named above are freaks; AP and Gore in particular. Good luck to the young man, and thank you for coming to Texas.Â
December 8Dec 8 All right ... don't worry about Baxter. We've got a 2 carries for -2 yards option hitting the portal.

Outside of the truly special guys, most HS recruits aren't ready for significant rotational snaps until they are in year 2, and arguably year 3. Investing in HS recruits, like OL, winds up being a long term, low reward play. Unlike OL, DTs can be prima donnas and they expect to be playing from day 1, see Mitchell, Sydir, without putting in the work. They're more likely to transfer just as the investment from the program starts to pay off, see Kanu, Hero. Focusing the majority of the positional NIL spend on seasoned DTs in the portal, especially if they have multiple years left of eligibility, looks like a moneyball play. I don't have a problem if Texas banks on landing 1-2 DTs from the portal every cycle, one expected to play immediately and one who probably can, but who also has multiple years left.Â
December 8Dec 8 1 hour ago, closetojumping said: The thing about Lacey that's concerning is how diminutive he is. It's not like they didn't know that in recruiting, but now it's suddenly the "but" part of anything said about the guy. Great arm, knows the game, mobile, good leadership skills, can allegedly read a defense pretty well, but he's Herve Villechaize in stature. Can he sit on a tall TE or OT's shoulders and take snaps? yeah part of me thinks Sark saw Bryce Young at 5' 10", 204 lbs and thought he could do something with that.Â

Now that may be attributed to the overall shittiness of LSU, but I think we aim higher. Either way I could absolutely see Lane telling one of them to hit the road for Lacy.

Like, how tf do you just not get surgery and still punish defenders? To this day, only AP, Gore, and McGahee are the ones that absolutely floor me. I honest to God thought McGahee was losing that leg. It wss so brutal. I have never torn any knee ligaments, so that's completely foreign to me. My sister tore her ACL/MCL in the early aughts playing college soccer and all she said was the "pain" was extremely annoying, and almost impossible to sleep with. She said it's not so much you're in constant pain, but more your brain can't turn the pain off once it hits. After surgery she said it was just sore, nothing more. I assume everybody is different since she was back to practicing at around 6 months. Full practice, not in rehab. Whomever her doctor was he was great, especially considering she tore it her freshman year and still finished her career, and that wss almost 20 years ago, so imagine what they have now. I did tear my rotator cuff, and I shit you not, the pain was so immense that I couldn't have sex or wipe my own ass without getting tension headaches. That shit fucking sucked, and not because I couldn't have sex, but simply I couldn't even  shower properly without getting literal blinding headaches and passing out in the shower. I wanted to cry, but can't do that because girls are around. Can't see me in agonizing pain because manly man. Fuck that. I finally after a week set up surgery. I could not live like that.Â

OTF wouldn't shut the fuck up about him and were convinced he was going to be a breakout start in 2026 and a solid justification for why we didn't do anything at RB in the Spring portal (despite many seeing an obvious need).
