Guilbeau opting out of the bowl game, unless he is hurt, reminds me of when Brennan Eagles opted out of the 2020 Alamo Bowl to "declare for the NFL draft".

What type of advice are these kids getting?

Too many fucking yes men around these guys. It’s unfortunate because they often need a hard dose of reality.

Maybe Guilbeau is opting out because he knows he won't play. We'll want to get our young corners as many reps as possible. Also they're better anyway.

Comments suggest this On3 article is about Justus Terry.

Burke's draft slot depends on how he tests at the combine/pro day IMHO.

Yeah, the notion that he could go in round 2 doesn't shock me. The guy is 6'6" with length and appears to dominate high-level competition at times. If he tests well, what's the knock on him?

his arm length / wingspan is off the charts isn't it?  that's a measurable that can't be coached.

beat me to it, I think his height, weight, basic measurables are drool worthy for GMs.

So a guy from Georgia, who at one time was committed to Georgia, and who had Georgia as his #2 choice when he signed with Texas - if he enters the portal, he would probably go to Georgia.

Got it.

I thought he was happy with UT per reports.  Saw him play against aggy too.  I'm guessing this is bullshit from Georgia $9.95'ers wishcasting like we did for years with Evan Stewart.

production, athleticism, positional fit (SDEs don't typically go rounds 1/2)

OTF mods quite vocally shot this idiocy down by saying that yes Terry is happy in Austin, at UT, and the defensive staff is expecting more from/for him.  Pretty much confirmed wishcasting from UGA fans/mods and whichever Texas fans need something to publicly clutch their pearls about today.

Wouldn't surprise me to see him go in the 3rd or 4th.

A few UGA pages and fans on social keep foaming at the mouth about Texas. Of course, so does Kirby in his own ways. This is the latest example, but anything negative about us is prioritized. I take that as a sign we worry them much more than most other conference schools do, despite the fact they clearly have scoreboard. Whatever.

He's not very fast twitch*, albeit the way that Kwiatkowski uses his ends usually includes someone who is a bit of a tweener opposite more of a rush end (i.e., he was a good fit for the role).

I think the NFL tends to want more versatility and athleticism, which you can see any time you're looking at Colin Simmons, for example, to use as a comparison.

*you mentioned "test well"--I'm presuming this is fairly well revealed at the Combine, pro days, etc.

I haven't heard anything about it in a while, but Terry's family was supposedly moving into a house in Austin and the dude is getting paid extremely well and will keep getting paid that way based on how the program feels about the guy.

Is it a publicly traded company? If so, can you provide the symbol? Asking for arbitrage purposes.

This is an interesting way to look at the run game. No surprise but Texas sucks at blocking and YAC. Caleb Hawkins and both Mizzou RBs are ballers. I don't think this is adjusted for strength of schedule at all.

Kewan Lacy of Ole Miss is reported to be our top target.  If we hire Baugh's RBs coach, that could change. I'm sure we've contacted Baugh's camp already since he'd be #2 if Lacy is #1.

Depends on the defense.  He is decent pass rusher and better against the run than most.

So Tech is the '85 Bears?

So Tech is the '85 Bears?

I’m going to be so happy when they get beat tf up by Oregon. I’m sick of all the media Texas Tech nob slobbering when they played the softest schedule of anyone that was put in the playoffs outside of the two slapdicks (JMU & Tulane).

Sorry, rant over. Continue with the ‘10 year olds getting scholarships’ and ‘shitty UT lineman’ discussion.

Hill was the 2nd best LB this year by a wide margin and he missed 2 whole games.  Nobody affected the game more than him aside from Rodriguez who rightfully deserved the Butkus and should have been a Heisman finalist over Sayin.

Texas will be able to get better. Not sure hes an upgrade over anybody at campus. This was likely his best run of the year

Trying to remember, We were out bid for Bailey and Thieneman and did not pursue Hardy?

Edited by pacman

Pretty sure Hardy was done before he even entered, but we were semi set with our backfield already. 6 backs to start the season.

Went after Bailey, Hunter, and Thieneman

That is illuminating.  Texas is in Washington State territory.

For portal reasons (recognizing that RB may already be spoken for), I would be interested in knowing what's more about players to helped their teams over that elite tier 3.5 YAC line.  ULM, for example, looks like they were RB by committee with a pretty big committee.  I wonder how that UNT RB would translate against better defenses (freshman Hawkins, 200 carries 6.2/carry, from Shawnee, OK).

This has to be for cause. The timing doesn't make sense otherwise.

Man, I would take a few of their interior OL including Lee.

Lets take their G, C, G combo right now.

I personally would enjoy beating the fuck out of a disinterested and disorganized helmet school that I dislike, but that's just me.

So tired of Texas fans being massive ND-level bitches about the bowl game

No shit.

1890 - 2015: Texas plays in tons of Bowl games - maybe 5-6 of which have a bearing on the NC. Bowls are great!

2015 - Present: Texas plays in those exact same bowls. Bowls are boring and a waste of time....

ok

I guess we'll find out how badly Mrs. Larry Ellison wants to keep the roster together.
