May 1May 1 This is one of those things where the solution is really simple but the overload of information on the internets makes it complicated. We move into our new home soon. It’s has a standard natural gas outlet on the patio. I want to hook up to different cooking units to said outlet (pizza oven and Weber grill). What, exactly do I need to purchase to do this? Both cooking “things” come with the usual connector hardware, of course.
May 2May 2 You should look into how to check for leaks. People are stupid, so I will say it, do not use an open flame to check for leaks, very dangerous. Look for a closed flamed checker, usually at a plumbing specialty place. Lowes sometimes, HD never has them.

So most of those devices come ready for propane not natural gas (and the reverse is true for indoor appliances like a gas dryers and stoves). The cooking device itself needs a conversion kit from propane to natural gas, you will need to research the model you have to get the right kit.
May 2May 2 Uh, soapy water is your plumbers leak detector of choice. If it’s just installing a T and there is already a shut off on the tap this is super fucking simple.

Id' suggest a couple of ball valves at each termination point. I am not a plumber, but I've had one run an exterior line and know what he did. Also, the yellow thread tape is for gas. Just remember not to use dissimilar metals. If the fittings are iron, stay with iron, if brass, stay with brass, etc. Check for leaks with soapy water. Check again tomorrow.
May 3May 3 Author After too much time in the plumbing aisle at Hoke Depot, I have my plan/supplies.1/2” coupler (female)1/2” to 3/8” bushing3/8” T adapter (male x 3)It took way too long to figure this out for what the solution ended up being.I also get a roll of yellow thread tape since apparently you’re supposed to use it.
