May 3May 3 Nice piece of hitting by the guy, just protecting the plate, which so many of our guys have struggled to do this weekend.

Hopefully this weekend was an anomaly and we don’t have to find out. I think we could possibly see him spot start. That's the beauty of the flexibility he brings. I know it would suck for the pen, but where do we need help most right now?

The plate umps in this series has blown up that opinion. I saw on X though there was some of the same non sense going on in the Tennessee/Auburn game today.

It blows my mind that some of these dudes ever even made it to this level. I've seen better Pony league umps. Much better. Makes me wanna start umping in my retirement. Edited May 3May 3 by wood

They are calling strikes on glove placement vs where the ball actually crossed the plate…. You see these catchers catch a ball that is out of the zone and the split second they catch it, they move their glove as close to the middle of the zone . It needs to be addressed.

I'm sure some of these HPUs aren't aware that they're doing it, but the crazy part is that there are actually umps out there who consciously and intentionally call it that way. Fucking insane. Coach: "Hey Blue, that was two ball-widths off the plate". HPU: "He hit the target the catcher gave him. It's a strike". Truly head-scratching stuff. I've literally seen catchers set up for a ball 8-10" wide of the plate - where the ball has to cross over the stripe of the other batter's box to hit the target - and get the call when the pitcher hits the spot. It's amazing. Edited May 3May 3 by wood
May 3May 3 Needed a weekend like this, hope we pull this one out but we have gotten the shit kicked out of us in every facet of the game
May 3May 3 No matter how shaky the ball/strike calls, I'm not blaming our inability to avoid walks or HBPs on anyone but ourselves. Solo HRs will rarely beat us. Make them put the ball in play.
May 3May 3 Even Dylan having trouble locating now. Just a big fail from our pitching staff top to bottom. Hope it’s a one off.

May 3May 3 Well, these guys have hit everything we’ve thrown at them. Tip your cap and stop giving free passes in the next series.

May 3May 3 4 minutes ago, perfectchaos007 said: How is Arkansas not 49-0 this year? Well maybe because they had lost their last three SEC series in a row, including to the teams tied for 12th place in the SEC, Aggy and Florida. They were ready for this series, was a kind of last stand if they wanted to stay in the title race.

May 3May 3 Is this only the second time we've given up double digits? Only other one I remember is Tx State. And these assholes scored 9 on Thursday. Fucking ass kicking

May 3May 3 Unbelievable how many of ours have been just short with theirs going over. Thought this park was small!
May 3May 3 LSU losing to Aggy. Road games in the sec are hard. Coming in 19-2 really spoiled us to think we’re sweeping everyone so hopefully this helps our focus for what really matters in a few weeks.
May 3May 3 Several 100mph+ warning track outs the last couple innings. All or most with nobody on though so not like they’d have the same impact, but just not our weekend in all phases.
May 3May 3 They certainly didn't play like this the past three weeks, all the teams have been up and down except Texas. Now Texas has joined the crowd. Edited May 3May 3 by NBHorn7
