All of the previous “walk ons” throughout CFB history are like WTF? They actually had a purpose. Not all were “Rudy,” but most were scout team players Mon-Thur against the Varsity, whether in t-shirts or full pads.

My Dad’s only existence as a UT football player was basically in practice over his four years playing there. Someone will have to take their place on the 105.

Tell a “scholarship player,” yes we want you to come to UT, but we really only see you as a “practice” player. Go Team!

Hook’em!!!

Who's pushing this cap? What is its actual intended purpose?

The more we see shit like this, the more obvious it becomes that the real endgame here is to have the Big Minor League, NFL Feeder League, thirty or sixty-some schools step out on their own.

I mean, fuck it, let's have an expense cap for every phase - coaches, players, facilities, bands, cheerleaders, pom squads. And what about the actual "student" part? Shouldn't we have limits as well? We say we do, but we need testing and enforcement to verify the rates and depths of academic achievement.

We know where to go with this matter.

Bring on the Prime League. Let the Good Times roll.

IF the NIL theory believes schools are profiting from the games, then what about the Girl Scouts?  ` Individual girls don't take home the money from cookie sales, but the organization does.  I can see it now; top seller becomes highly prized salespersons negotiating deals for Ferrari's and Benz's.

Careful... this may not be the right comparison... Just sayin'

Texas is going to stick with 85 and walk ons so they have more NIL to distribute to the 85 according to Bobby

This is what makes it obvious to you? You must be fucking blind to not have seen what has been happening the last 5 years for this to make it obvious.

The roster cap should be at 85 players, period. No other level of football has teams even remotely close to that size.

Once again your cluelessness shows no limits.  Texas, along with many other big time programs, run 4 huddles in practice.  Account for injuries, specialists, rotations at certain spots, etc etc and 105 really isn't even enough to do that. That's why Sark, Kirby and many other were against any reduction, with Smart going so far as to say he'd pay for walkons out of his salary.

Bobby has said Texas will stay at 85 scholarship players and continue walk on program once roster limits expand so that Texas is able to distribute more revenue to their scholarship players.

Article says current walkons and class of 2025 high school guys are exempt from counting against the 105 so Bobby may or may not  be correct. I'll wait to hear from guys named Chris and Steve

And where do you think Bobby got that information from? He wouldn't say it multiple times and put it out there multiple times if it didn't come from them.  Why would CDC or Sark want to further split the revenue with 20 extra players when you can better use that money to properly stack a 85 man roster.

I don't listen to or read or whatever Bobby so I don't really care. And I understand how math works. I'm referring to guys that were already there not getting paid and wanted to stay but looked like might not be able to
