They had Manor closed over I35 last night for pedestrians and rickshaws. Would've been nice to know that before sitting on the access road for an extra half an hour to get across 35 on MLK. I expect it will be the same today.
May 10May 10 I guess we have no choice but to give him a pass because of the lack of options we have but my fear is we have run Ruger into the ground asking him to do so many different things this year. If you start jerking around Volantis in different roles and asking him to be Superman you risk the same thing with him. Tricky situation but also shouldn’t overshadow the fact we have scored 3 or fewer runs in 5 of our last 7 SEC games.
May 10May 10 I'll say it again, this team after the loss of Spencer seems to be eerily reminiscent of the 2022 team after Witt went down.

The leadoff walk that started with a great pitch at the knees being called a ball and had a couple WTF sort of misses really set the tone. Ruger better get it figured out. I’d give him another quick outing Sunday to try to get his mojo back. He can’t be our Friday starter as is

Plus he was apparently pitching through the Flu.

May 10May 10 UF just won a Friday game with their starter going what was it 2 or 3 innings. There are alternatives. I’d put Ruger back as a game 3 starter next weekend. He’s likely worn down some so maybe a little extra rest would help. Thursday games have everyone off schedule anyway so it’s not like the traditional starter has typical rest anyway. Burns, Saunier, Bing, Flores all have starting experience. All have gotten outs. You can throw Grubbs anytime. Duplantier and Howard certainly can provide innings. We are a staff that can survive when a starter only goes 2-3 innings. The key is only giving 1-2 runs rather than 6 or 9. Id be hesitant to start Volantis because he’s not going 9 and not sure how long he’d go anyway. For a frosh, he’s pitched quite a few games so not sure he’d extend you beyond 5, maybe 6. Then you get to the 8th or 9th and have to determine do you go Burns or Grubbs. Until runs are scored, it won’t mean much anyway.

He can’t throw worse than Ruger has, he has legit stuff, and he hasn’t allowed a run in 12 innings.

The best alternative is having your offense be able to win some games for you so you aren’t reliant on dominant pitching every game. Look at the winning totals for yesterday in the league. 2-3 runs doesn’t win many games.

Mr. Strawberry, Chip is saying that there were eight or nine guys dealing with the flu and Ruger was one of them. Looks like you were correct with him dealing with some fatigue. At least it’s not something injury related.

Auburn when not run ruling USC they won 11-10. And we are short on blowout wins and coasting too. 10 minutes ago, salonghorn said: Why don't teams give their players flu shots? I had a flu shot. It is not woke to encourage young men and women to get a shot that will most likely keep them from getting the flu. I don't think that teams should require it but they can educate and make it available on a voluntary basis. I get the shot every year and I can't even remember the last time that I had the flu

So if you are all those things, who needs a flu shot?

May 10May 10 No clue what Tulo has been doing past couple of weeks but jeez the team is having poor ABs. Top of lineup sucks, Borba ugh, Gaspo who knwos WTF he sees, it’s just shitastic and doesn’t seem to be improving at all.

Galvan's jumping around in the box while the pitch is still in the air has been happening since opening day. It ain't just the past couple of weeks that I question with him this year.
May 10May 10 Wind blowing straight in again from CF. Not ideal conditions to try to snap out of an offensive funk.

May 10May 10 Players have to listen and put into practice what Tulo tells them. I'm not sure that is happening, it's not like suddenly some of these players suddenly developed hitting flaws. Farmer tries to pull everything and he either does or strikes out, this is just one example.
